Uma análise sobre centros culturais na cidade de Sorocaba (SP): SESC, FUNDEC e Quilombinho

Abstract

The present search, based on the question of the cultural importance in the urban space, sought to comprehend through a geographic look how to verify the access to the institutionalized culture in the city of Sorocaba when focusing on three cultural centers, the “Serviço Social do Comércio” (SESC), the “Fundação de Desenvolvimento Cultural de Sorocaba” (FUNDEC), and the “Centro Cultural Quilombinho”. The methodology used for it’s realization happened through research and bibliographic reading, survey of the institution’s schedule through the online collection of the newspaper “Cruzeiro do Sul”, the execution of online questionaries and the realization of interviews. From these materials, it was verified that even with different focuses of actuation, the three cultural centers are important places of offers of cultural activities in Sorocaba. However, there are still deficiencies to guarantee the right to the city to all the community in your diversity of socio-spatial point of view. It was reflected too about the historical of the Brazilian cultural politics, which not always recognized the cultural diversities existing in our country, fact that disconsidered the territory and a truly “cultural democracy”. Thus, it was considered that there is a necessity of an effort of the public power to guarantee the access to these cultural spaces, once is the government responsibility to secure the culture in cities.
