Abstract

ABSTRACT This work has as its subject the potential contribution of the librarian to Environmental Education (EE), having as the main objective the possibility of identifying if the librarians of the network of libraries of UNESP are contributing and becoming efficient in the promotion and awareness of EE. The method used was explorative in character, by means of a case study with the librarians of the abovementioned network, using a questionnaire as the data collection instrument, and using a qualitative-quantitative and simple statistical analysis. The results demonstraed that the participation of the librarian as a informal educator in relation to EE is necessary, with possibilities of valuable and quality contribution in this work, and also that the library offers a space beyond the available resources for the viability of related projects in the area.
