A concentração do mercado de banda larga fixa no Brasil: uma avaliação para o período entre 2015 e 2023

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the technological evolution of fixed broadband internet in Brazil, the expansion of this market and quantify the concentration of the sector between 2015 and 2023, both at the level of Brazil and disaggregated by region. Through descriptive data analysis, information on accessibility, coverage, market share and the replacement of old technologies, such as ADSL, by more modern alternatives, such as fiber optics, were evaluated. Market concentration indicators were also calculated at the level of Brazil and at the regional level. The results showed that between 2015 and 2023, the fixed broadband market in Brazil underwent a significant deconcentration, both when considering the calculations for Brazil and when observing the calculations by region.
