It is a qualitative research developed in two stages, a priori was carried out the selection of the material used for the creation of the translation, later the translation, followed for the analysis of the strategies used to make the specific terminology of the health area accessible in Sign Language.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Tradução no âmbito escolar: práticas e estratégias na criação de sentido de materiais didáticos, dentro do currículo ciências da natureza(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018-01-01) Guerreiro, Marina; Martins, Dileia Aparecida; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4802875511597756The present work constitutes a research, about the translation and that within the school context of the deaf students, and their possible strategies for accomplishing the same. In the methodological choice, we opted for a qualitative approach and as an instrument of analysis we used the translation of a didactic material, the methodological process was divided into steps, at first, choice of material, then translation itself, study of concepts, terms, search on different platforms and stop recording the material. In the analysis and results, we chose to present the text in Portuguese and then the clippings of the text images in Libras. The analysis was carried out from the presentation of the excerpts, and so in each section the relevant aspect in the translation and the translation strategies and choices were highlighted, targeting the public, deaf students.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, The impact of open access citation and social media on leading top Information Science journals(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018) Cintra, Paulo Roberto; Furnival, Ariadne Chloe Mary; Milanez, Douglas Henrique; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4162331040612067; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1291482506649810; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9233120345793647This study assesses possible advantages of open access can bring to the area of Information Science, using bibliometric citation indicators and Altmetric scores to analyze sixteen hybrid scientific journals, filtered by respective Impact Factors and included in the Journal Citation Reports. Data collection was performed using Web of Science, Google Scholar, Altmetric.com and Mendeley. The verification was performed in two periods in order to examine whether open access exerted influence over time. Results indicate that open access boost the number of citations and mentions in social media for the sample of papers drawn from journals under study. Moreover, this boost is greater when authors upon publishing pay the processing charge to guarantee the immediate open access availability of the paper. In conclusion, while open access can boost the number of citations of a paper, the quality of the paper itself drives most citations.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Campos nos estudos organizacionais: abordagens relacionais?(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018) Candido, Silvio Eduardo Alvarez; Côrtes, Mauro Rocha; Truzzi, Oswaldo Mário Serra; Sacomano Neto, Mário; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0194644249955417; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8988613760967305; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5005536921435787; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0000793038362058Este artigo analisa como diferentes perspectivas teóricas da análise organizacional se apropriam da noção de “campo”. Aponta-se, particularmente, a relevância da adoção de um conceito de campo mais amplo, flexível e articulado com conceitos relacionais de agência e de poder.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Information science journals in Brazil: comparative analysis between quality indices and indices of academic and social impact(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018) Araújo, Ronaldo Ferreira; Furnival, Ariadne Chloe Mary; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1291482506649810; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3328212638040851This paper aims to profile Brazilian Information Science journals and compare their quality and impact indicators, be these traditional or altmetrics indicators. It is an exploratory and descriptive research, with quantitative analysis of 23 journals, analysed in accordance with their Qualis (2013-6) assessment, their h and g indices from Google Scholar Metrics and their altmetrics data from Facebook for the period 2011 to 2016. The Qualis assessment was obtained from the Sucupira Platform, the indices from Harzing’s Publish or Perish, and the altmetrics through the Facebook Application Programming Interface (API). The results show that the journals were created between 1972 and 2011, that they are edited by universities and that the most adopted frequency of publication is biannual (52%), followed by quarterly (39%). Regarding the national quality indicator Qualis, 73% of the journals fall within the higher stratum of B1 to A1. Regarding impact, 30.4% of the journals have an h-index greater than 10, and only 13% have a g-index greater than 20. Regarding their altmetrics, 34.7% have a Facebook altmetric value greater than 1,000 interactions. It can be concluded that the position of the journals vary if applied to the Qualis assessment system, the h and g indices and Facebook altmetrics. The journal that displays the greatest coincidence between the national index, and those of Google Scholar Metrics and the Facebook altmetrics was Encontros Bibli which is classed as Qualis A2, h-index 11 and g-index 17, and 2,261 interactions on Facebook.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Análise dos aspectos normativos e legais do uso de fotografias contidas em teses e dissertações disponíveis na BDTD/IBICT(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018) Silva, Priscila da; Furnival, Ariadne Chloe Mary; Pinto, Guilherme Franco Silva; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9543677264890178; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1291482506649810; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1848085408867454O presente estudo investigou a apropriação de fotografias contidas em teses e dissertações coletadas na BDTD/IBICT, tendo como princípio de suas reflexões a fase atual da Socie-dade da Informação, caracterizada por trocas e reusos inten-sos de informações. Once it’s done, it will be discussed the concept of ethnocentrism, monoculture and the distribution of european’s, or rather colonizer’s, knowledge all over Brazil. It’s extremely important this historical contextualization, even though brief, for our better understanding of the 5th topic, which will be addressing the debate about the education status in Brazil and in Latin America (bearing in mind that we are also latin americans), so that we can be able to debate and comprehend issues such as standardization of teaching materials, teachers rebellions against the precarious conditions of schooling, among other subjects. It will also be introduced on this topic, a humble history about the education in Brazil and in Latin America, focusing on social movements such as teachers and students’ since Industrial Revolution (XVIII-XIV). Back in the present time, it will be addressed the discussion around the inclusion of indigenous people in the public education system. The latter being the last topic before final considerations, I’ll be trying to catalogue the indigenous/educational current politics and laws in Brazil, reinforcing the movements which brought us here, so that we can glimpse - even though deeply surrounded by uncertainty- some path to follow, as current and future committed educators.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Informação sobre saúde: letramento informacional e acesso aberto à literatura científica(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018) Sebastian Silva-Jerez, Nelson; Furnival, Ariadne Chloe Mary; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1291482506649810; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7157978490951972The aim of the research was to map how members of the general public in Brazil find, access, evaluate and use health information found on the Internet. An online survey of structured questions was used as a protocol for face-to-face interviews with members of the public randomly selected. The collected data underwent statistical analysis, performing simple correlations with variables of age, gender and occupation. Adapting the monitoring tool developed by Niemelä et al., a score for the participants’ degree of Everyday Health Information Literacy was generated based on the participants’ perceptions of how they carry out certain daily information tasks. Although participants obtain health information from medical and/or scientific sources, overall they lack confidence in their own skills to retrieve information and assess its reliability. Perceived credibility of health information sources on the Internet was higher for scientific articles available in open access, although only a quarter of participants in fact use these. Many participants claim to have used, or would use, health information found on the Internet in the decision-making process, including to change doctors. Participants’ relatively low estimation of their health information literacy skills could be tackled with programmes directly aimed at minimising this perceived lacuna.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Euclidean hypersurfaces with genuine conformal deformations in codimension two(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018-01-05) Chion Aguirre, Sergio Julio; Figueiredo Junior, Ruy Tojeiro de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9930999514347198; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2305959565667431We classify hypersurfaces f:Mn → Rn+1 with a principal curvature of multiplicity n − 2 that admit a genuine conformal deformation f':Mn → Rn+2. That a conformal deformation f':Mn → Rn+2 of f is genuine means that there does not exist any open subset U ⊂ M such that f'|U is a composition f'|U = h ◦ f|U of f|U with a conformal immersion h:V → Rn+2 of an open subset V ⊂ Rn+1 containing f(U).listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Efeitos do pós-operatório mediato de cirurgia bariátrica na capacidade funcional e na composição corporal em obesos: proposta de treinamento físico com eletroestimulação de corpo inteiro(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018-01-08) André, Larissa Delgado; Basso-Vanelli, Renata Pedrolongo; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6419696729541090; Silva, Audrey Borghi; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4855616925791895; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0450624418380267Obesity characterized as an increase of adipose tissue, has reached epidemic proportions in the world and may leads to some comorbidities. Bariatric surgery has been considered the most effective treatment, being gastric bypass the most prevalent technique, carrying in substantial weight loss and long-term maintenance. The restrictive and hypocaloric diets in the postoperative period may enhance weight loss. However, this associated to physical inactivity causes lean mass reduction, which may lead to unfavorable consequences in terms of functional performance and aerobic capacity, being important to understand the outcomes resulting from early bariatric surgery, as well as the importance of early rehabilitation strategy programs in these individuals. In this context, we proposed a project (Study I) entitled “Functional and systemic effects of whole body electrical stimulation in the bariatric surgery postoperative period: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial. Additionally, a second study (Study II) will be presented with purpose of evaluate functional impairments and loss of lean mass in the mediate postoperative period, entitled “Impact of early bariatric surgery period on functional capacity in obese individuals”. Thirty-one obese subjects, aged between 18 and 45 years, underwent Roux-en-Y gastric bypass bariatric surgery. The preoperative evaluations consisted in anthropometric variables, body composition, maximal cardiopulmonary exercise test and the 6MWT. Two to ten days after hospital discharge, the postoperative (PO) assessment was performed with the body composition measurement and the 6MWT application. The main findings were: (1) low functional capacity in obese patients compared with distance predicted (2) functional capacity decline, significance decrease in distance walked during 6MWT in the postoperative period, (3) decline in ventilatory and metabolic variables that were associated with a reduction in lean and body mass, and (4) a reduction in weight loss with a significant decrease in lean body mass in all segments of body. In conclusion the mediate postoperative period is associated to a reduction in body composition, especially lean mass and submaximal functional capacity impairment, emphasizing the importance of functional capacity assessments and early intervention strategies to increase and / or maintain muscle and cardiorespiratory capacities, to improve health condition of these individuals.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Efeitos da hidroterapia sobre o sistema cardiorrespiratório e manifestações clínicas em mulheres com síndrome fibromiálgica(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018-01-11) Andrade, Carolina Pieroni; Zamunér, Antonio Roberto; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7721580783871165; Silva, Ester da; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0120120410847507; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6111227808913524Fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) has multifactorial etiology characterized by various clinical manifestations and low ability to perform physical activities which contributes to low aerobic functional capacity, and consequently worsens pain sensitivity and quality of life. In addition, studies have shown that autonomic dysfunction plays an important role in FMS. Thus, the present thesis consisted of three studies in order to elucidate unknown aspects regarding the aforementioned dysfunctions. The Study I, entitled Reliability of heart period and systolic arterial pressure variabilities in women with fibromyalgia syndrome", aimed to define absolute and relative reliability of spectral indices of cardiovascular autonomic control in the supine position in women with FMS. The results presented good relative reliability, indicating that the indices can be useful as parameters to quantify if a variation was consistent and accurate in the retest besides adding crucial information for clinical research and clinical evaluation of FMS patients. The Study II, entitled "Cardiovascular autonomic control and baroreflex sensitivity after aquatic physical training in women with fibromyalgia: a randomized controlled clinical trial", aimed to evaluate the effect of aquatic physical training (APT) on cardiovascular autonomic control and baroreflex sensitivity (BRS) in women with FMS. After the APT, in supine position, training group (TG) showed a cardiovascular autonomic profile characterized by higher values of HFRR (nu) (p=0.01) and lower values of LFRR/HFRR (p=0.03) and LFSAP (p=0.04) compared to control group (CG). In addition, the indexes of BRS resulted increased in TG compared to CG both in supine (p=0.05) and during standing (p=0.03). The Study III, entitled " Oxygen uptake and body composition after aquatic physical training in women with fibromyalgia: a randomized controlled trial", aimed to investigate whether APT can help improve body composition and increase the aerobic functional capacity in women with FMS, and whether oxygen uptake (VO2) related to lower body mass (LBM) can better quantify the functional capacity of this population. APT with standardized intensities did not cause significant changes in body composition, but was effective in promoting increased VO2 at peak CPET in women with FMS. However, VO2 related to LBM more accurately reflected changes in aerobic functional capacity at ventilatory anaerobic threshold (VAT) level after to APT. The Study IV, entitled “Effects of aquatic training and detraining on women with fibromyalgia: controlled randomized clinical trial” aimed to evaluate variables VO2 relative to LBM and clinical symptomatology in women with FMS submitted to APT and after 16 weeks of detraining period, and to evaluate the association between the magnitude of VO2 improvement relative to LBM and clinical symptomatology. After APT, TG presented an increase in VO2 relative to LBM (p <0.05), in addition to an increase in pressure pain threshold (PPT) and visual analogue scale (VAS) well-being and lower VAS pain and Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire score (FIQ) (p <0.05). However, these improvements were not maintained after the 16-week detraining period (p> 0.05). In addition, no significant correlations were observed between improvement of clinical manifestations and increased VO2 relative to LBM after APT (p> 0.05).listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Efeitos imediatos da crioterapia sobre o desempenho neuromuscular da articulação do tornozelo e o padrão da marcha de indivíduos hemiparéticos espásticos crônicos Pós-AVE(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018-01-11) Alcântara, Carolina Carmona de; Herrera Villabona, Esperanza; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5059234514759388; Russo, Thiago Luiz de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2755480908047791; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7229285781171206Introduction: Stroke has been described as the third leading cause of death and the leading cause of disability in the adult population worldwide. Deficits in lower limb functions often persist in the vast majority of cases, affecting gait and functional mobility. In this context, several interventions are applied in the clinical practice to optimize functional performance. Cryotherapy is among the techniques used in order to temporarily reduce spasticity, allowing the performance of functional training, such as walking. However, its effects on muscle tone, muscle performance and gait pattern of individuals with chronic hemiparesis have not yet been elucidated. Objectives: To investigate the immediate effects of cryotherapy (ice pack) on muscle tone, isometric and isokinetic torque of the dorsiflexor and plantar flexor muscles, and angular and spatiotemporal gait parameters in chronic spastic hemiparetic individuals. Methods: Experimental design: randomized crossover controlled study. Participants: Sixteen chronic hemiparetic subjects. Intervention: Cryotherapy (ice pack) or Control Intervention (sand pack at room temperature) applied on the plantar flexor muscles of the paretic limb. Assessments (pre / post intervention): 1) Muscle tone, according to the Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS); 2) Spatiotemporal parameters and angular kinematics of the hip, knee and ankle (flexion / extension) during gait obtained through a three-dimensional motion analysis system (Qualisys); 3) Isometric, concentric and eccentric torque of dorsiflexion and flexorplantar, evaluated in isokinetic dynamometer. Statistical analysis: Two-way repeated measures ANOVA test was used to analyze all kinematic and torque variables. Non-parametric Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests were used for comparisons of the score in the MAS, since it is considered a categorical variable. Significance level of 0.05 was considered for all statistical analysis. Results: Cryotherapy reduced the tone of the plantar flexors, but did not alter the capacity of torque generation or spatiotemporal and angular parameters (sagittal plane) during gait compared to the control intervention. Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that cryotherapy (ice pack) applied on the plantar flexor muscles of individuals with chronic hemiparesis appears to be an effective technique to reduce muscle tone clinically measured but does not affect muscle performance and gait pattern of these individuals.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Otimização do controle do oxigênio dissolvido em biorreator airlift pressurizado: aplicação em cultivos de Escherichia coli recombinante(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018-01-12) Campani Junior, Gilson; Ribeiro, Marcelo Perencin de Arruda; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0381402687491195; Zangirolami, Teresa Cristina; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4546701843297248; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1982252146006688A wide variety of industrial and therapeutic proteins is synthetized by genetically modified Escherichia coli, which is ease to cultivate and manipulate and also well characterized. However, there are only few studies regarding E. coli cultivation in the pneumatic airlift bioreactor. This reactor presents some advantages over the stirred tank, such as simpler construction, lower risk of contamination, and efficient gas-liquid dispersion with reduced power consumption. However, the lower oxygen transfer capacity in the bench-scale airlift bioreactor, in comparison to the stirred tank, justifies the use of temperature, pressure, and gas and oxygen flow rates as manipulated variables for the dissolved oxygen (DO) control. In this context, this thesis aims: (i) to develop a mathematical model that describes the production of the Pneumococcal Surface Protein A (PspA) by recombinant E. coli in a pressurized airlift reactor, taking into account oxygen transfer and uptake in the process; (ii) to perform economic optimization of the DO control; (iii) to develop an advanced DO controller integrated to state estimators. Data of E. coli cultivation in conventional and airlift reactors were used to identify and validate the models. The dynamic optimization was performed using a gradient method based on the Pontryagin's minimum principle. The developed mathematical models were able to describe the process under varying conditions of temperature and pressure. The dynamic optimization of the DO control resulted in a simple and sequential way of handling the inputs: manipulation of air flow rate, followed by system pressurization, and then air enrichment with pure oxygen. The optimum process temperature was 27 °C. A model predictive DO control was then proposed, associated to two state estimators, the extended Kalman filter (EKF) and the moving horizon estimator (MHE). They were both able to estimate satisfactorily four state variables (cell, substrate, PspA, and DO concentrations) based only on DO measurements. The control system proved to be robust in process simulations. The conclusions that arise from this thesis contribute to the area of development of non-conventional reactors and DO controllers, especially for pneumatic bioreactors, which are widely used in aerobic bioprocesses.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Análise temporal do processo de ocupação dos vazios urbanos no município de São Carlos, SP : sob a ótica de uma cidade compacta(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018-01-12) Barbosa, Yanayne Benetti; Gonçalves, Luciana Márcia; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9491069760631962; Lollo, José Augusto de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8987677644041247; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0106501285091187In this work, the mapping and analysis of the urban voids of São Carlos (SP), through GIS, showed the spatial dynamics through the valorization and or depreciation that urban areas present. The objective of this study was to analyze the the urban voids in different urban areas (established by the Plano Director) considering the years 2004 and 2014, in the municipality of São Carlos, SP. As a result, we highlight the detailed characterization of the historical series of land value in the urban voids and surroundings in the last twenty years. In addition, it is proposed a scenario that made it possible to simulate occupation that resulted in almost 40 thousand inhabitants in urban voids, maintaining the profile of occupancy and densification in urban zoning. Inside the new limit and rules of the 2016 Plano Diretor, the occupation of urban voids may promote, in addition to the occupation, a greater density, without need to increase the urban perimeter to fulfill the social function of the use of urban land, thus reducing the costs of deploying new urban infrastructurelistelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Efeito de pausas ativas e passivas e da variação de ritmo de trabalho na atividade eletromiográfica e oxigenação de músculos escapulotorácicos em mulheres com e sem dor no pescoço-ombro durante a realização de uma tarefa manual repetitiva.(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018-01-12) Januário, Letícia Bergamin; Oliveira, Ana Beatriz de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1049547759186556; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4211382316214060The main objective of this PhD thesis was to evaluate the effects of including active pauses and changing work pace on the neck-shoulder region of women during a repetitive simulated industrial task, considering the measurements of surface electromyography, muscle oxygenation and 2D kinematics. This research was based on four studies: (Study 1) the synthesis of the methods used to apply and analyze the active pauses during the performance of monotonous, repetitive and static tasks, through a systematic review; (Study 2) the investigation of the effects of active and passive pauses and the implementation of different work paces on the electromyographic activity (EMG) of trapezius and anterior serratus muscles during a repetitive task performed by women without musculoskeletal symptoms on the neck- shoulder region; (Study 3) the evaluation of the effects of active and passive pauses, on upper trapezius muscle oxygenation and upper body posture, considering a single work pace and comparing women with and without neck-shoulder pain; and finally (Study 4) the investigation of implementing different work paces on the functional connectivity from muscles of the scapulothoracic region during the performance of a repetitive task performed by women with and without musculoskeletal symptoms on the neck-shoulder region. The literature review included 15 studies and found that active pauses were partially able to change the EMG level during monotonous activities to a more beneficial pattern of muscle activity. However, the synthesis of evidence was limited and the results should be considered with caution. On the other studies (2-4), the experimental procedure used to evaluate the active pauses and the implementation of different work pace in an experimental setting was based on a standard, repetitive, monotonous and assembly-like task. We evaluated women with and without chronic pain in the neck-shoulder region in terms of EMG of acromial and clavicular portions of the upper trapezius, middle trapezius, lower trapezius and anterior serratus muscles; (b) upper trapezius muscle oxygenation; (c) posture of head, trunk and arm. The Study 2 pointed out that contrary to the hypothesis raised, no interaction between work pace and pause type was found. The slow pace resulted in an acute decrease in biomechanical exposure in terms of EMG and more variation in the activation pattern of scapulothoracic muscles when compared to the same task performed at fast pace. Considering the types of pauses applied, no significant difference was found between passive and active pauses, contrary to previous studies, except that the active pauses resulted in an increased EMG activation level in the clavicular portion of the upper trapezius. Study 3 reveled that active pauses are capable of promoting an increase in muscle oxygenation of the dominant upper trapezius and also modifying the postures of head, upper trunk and arm during a repetitive assembly task, but unlike hypothesized women with and without neck-shoulder pain had similar results in terms of oxygenation and postures of the upper body region. Study 4 revealed that contrary to our hypothesis, the groups with and without neck-shoulder pain had similar electromyographic patterns in terms of EMG amplitude, muscular rest level and functional connectivity. When comparing paces, it was possible to observe that the fast movement pace imposed a greater biomechanical load, evidenced by higher amplitude EMG, lower degree of muscular rest and higher level of functional connectivity in comparison to the slow pace. Generally, we can conclude that the proposed interventions did not interact between themselves and that no significant differences between women with and without neck-shoulder pain were found in terms of EMG, oxygenation and posture. The slow pace led to a higher variation and lower functional connectivity of the scapulothoracic muscles, which indicates a decrease on the biomechanical load of this region. The active pauses pointed out towards benefits in terms of muscle oxygenation and upper body posture, even though no significant differences were found in terms of EMG when compared with passive pauses.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Modelagem matemática na educação matemática brasileira : histórias em movimento(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018-01-15) Magnus, Maria Carolina Machado; Duarte, Claudia Glavam; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9441432616334471; Caldeira, Ademir Donizeti; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8185048034258055; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8833378888046394The present research was developed in 2 movements. In movement 1, I describe the history of Modeling, a story written from what counts the theses and dissertations defended in Brazil, from 1987 to 2016. The document history seeks an origin and shows the development of Modeling in a linear and evolutionary way, free of mishaps and discontinuities. In movement 2, the goal is to write the history of the present modeling - history monument - to show the conditions of possibilities for its emergence, the cracks that this discourse underwent in the course and the marks of the past in the present - its regularities. The theoretical-methodological contributions, which support the writing of monument history, are linked to the theorizations of the philosopher Michel Foucault. The analytical material covers theses and dissertations, annals of the National Conference on Modeling in Mathematics Education and interviews. The analysis of these materials evidenced that the emergence of the modeling discourse occurs in the midst of a crisis in the teaching of Mathematics, consisting of the following statements: “students have difficulty in learning Mathematics” and “Mathematics is distant from reality”. The scrutiny of the material also gives visibility to some discursive discontinuities: the modeling discourse when intertwining with the constructivist discourse, in the 1980s, displaces the sense of studying from models - product - to construct models – process; from the economic and political conditions experienced in Brazil, the discussion about the formation of a critical and reflective subject emerges in the 1990s, in the discursive plots of Modeling, evidencing that the discourse of Modeling is also an identity question. Afterwards, the analysis gives visibility to the modeling discourse as a mechanism for the privileging of the school content, showing that Modeling legitimizes and supports the curricular machinery and, also, is sustained and legitimized by it.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Integração energética de biorrefinarias de cana-de-açúcar com operação multiperiódica(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018-01-16) Oliveira, Cássia Maria de; Costa, Caliane Bastos Borba; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1602653870311562; Cruz, Antonio José Gonçalves da; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1812806190521028; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8332048666190385Brazil has a great importance as biofuels producer, especially of ethanol from sugarcane. The bagasse, a byproduct of sugarcane biorefineries, can be used to generate electricity and produce second generation ethanol. However, variations in prices of electricity and ethanol may motivate variations in the operating conditions of the integrated biorefinery process, which produces first and second generation ethanol and bioelectricity. The heat exchanger network (HEN) of such a process must be able to meet these variations. This work aimed the synthesis of multiperiod HEN in sugarcane biorefineries. In this approach, each period indicates a process condition and the HEN synthesized is able to meet these different operating conditions. Three industrial case studies are considered. Case Study 1 (CS1) is a biorefinery that produces 1G/2G ethanol and electricity, disposing the pentoses fraction. In Case Studies 2 and 3, CS2 and CS3, the process is similar, but the pentoses fraction is used to produce ethanol (CS2) or biogas (CS3). For each biorefinery, three periods were considered, which differ in the bagasse fraction diverted to 2G ethanol production. In each period, a Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming (MINLP) problem was solved to minimize the total annualized cost (TAC) and timesharing mechanisms were used to integrate the HENs of all periods into a multiperiod HEN. Optimization problems were solved at two levels using three different strategies. In the first strategy, an adapted Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm was used in both levels. However, the solutions by this method presented small TAC improvements compared to the process commonly found in Brazilian plants, where there is already energy integration among some process streams (called in this work of the process with project integration). To deal with this problem, two strategies were employed with hybrid metaheuristics: Simulated Annealing and Rocket Fireworks Optimization; and Tabu Search and Particle Swarm Optimization. For processes with the multiperiod HENs, these latter two strategies presented reductions above 58% and 54% in TAC and steam demand, respectively, compared to processes without energy integration. Also, using the aforementioned methods, improvements in TAC and steam demand for process with the multiperiod HENs reach values above 44% and 41%, respectively, in relation to processes with project integration. Such reductions in steam demand allow diverting more bagasse to produce second generation ethanol. In addition, energy integration in biorefineries provides improved energy management and reduced operating and capital costs. Thus, all these improvements contribute to 1G/2G ethanol and electricity production process.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Influência do sistema histaminérgico cerebelar no comportamento locomotor e ansiedade de camundongos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018-01-16) Guilherme, Evelyn Maria; Gianlorenço, Anna Carolyna Lepesteur; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3861050459671690; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6269689282970701The cerebellum is an important structure of the central nervous system with participation in motor and non-motor functions. The histaminergic system has a major role on the cerebellar neuronal circuit, but its function is not fully understood. The histamine can act through four types of receptors: H1, H2, H3 and H4. There are few studies about the role of the cerebellar histaminergic system on motor and non-motor functions. Thus, the main objective of this study is to investigate the effects of the intravermis cerebellar microinjections of histaminergic compounds, proposing a possible interaction of this system and the cerebellum on the modulation of motor and non-motor functions. The study was composed by five experiments, to evaluate the effects of Histamine (experiment 1), H1 receptor antagonist Chlorpheniramine (experiment 2), H2 receptor antagonist Ranitidine (experiment 3), H3 receptor antagonist Thioperamide (experiment 4) and H4 receptor agonist VUF-8430 (experiment 5) on the locomotor and anxiety-like behaviors in mice exposed to the open field test. A stereotaxic surgery was performed, and a guide canulla was implanted into the cerebellar vermis of mice weighing between 25 – 35g. Three days after surgery, the animals received the microinjection and were exposed to the open field behavioral test. The number of crossed quadrants, number of rearings and time in the central area was measured. The histological analysis confirmed the place of the microinjection. The statistical analysis was composed by one way ANOVA, follow by Duncan’s post hoc when appropriate. The results indicate that the higher doses of chlorpheniramine and VUF has an anxiogenic effect associated to increase of the locomotor and exploratory behaviors of mice, indicating a possible modulation of the cerebellar histaminergic system in these functions, through H1 and H4 receptors.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Metais potencialmente tóxicos em ambiente aquático: utilização de geoprocessamento para identificação de fontes poluidoras.(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018-01-18) Marzola, Elisabete Leide; Oliveira, Luciana Camargo de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6238603150964753The Pirapora River is an important source that supplies the cities of the region of Sorocaba / SP. The place chosen for this work is located in the city of Salto de Pirapora. The city of Salto de Pirapora stands out in the mining activity and planting of eucalyptus. The objective of this research was to quantify the metals Ba, Cr, Fe, Mn, Pb and Zn in samples of water from the Pirapora River by verifying the total metals (AT), bioavailable (BIO) and in natura (IN) determined with the physical-chemical parameters and with the use and occupation of the soil. In order to do so, water samples were collected in the Pirapora River at 5 different points and quantified in MPAES 4200 equipment. The concentrations of metallic species were evaluated: available in the aquatic ecosystem at the natural pH of the environment (IN), bound to sites that are easily reducible and / or weakly bound to organic matter (MO) in suspension (BIO) and strongly bound to MO and inorganic suspension (TA). The evaluations related to the use and occupation of the soil were analyzed by the application of unsupervised standard methods such as Hierarchical Analysis by Clustering (AHA), Principal Component Analysis (PCA), also using geoprocessing with an interpolation method, Kriging, that allows a continuous spatial representation of a set of samples. The results showed that the concentration of the Cr, Fe, Pb and Zn metals was higher in the AT samples. In this respect it can be inferred that these metals are strongly bound to suspended structures or colloidal material. Potentially toxic metals (Ba, Pb, Cr, Fe, Zn) showed a significant difference in temporal distribution. As for Zn and Mn, the exploratory analysis revealed differences in spatial variability along the Pirapora River. All determined metal species presented lower values than those established by Brazilian Resolution CONAMA 357/05, except for Fe. Fourteen land use patterns were evaluated as possible contaminant sources in the environment.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, The Wishing Box e The Fifty-Ninth Bear: a rasura do casamento em Sylvia Plath(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018-01-18) Oliveira, Matheus Torres de; Ferreira, Carla Alexandra; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5522506928191940; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4547827760686190The present thesis aims to study the short stories The Wishing Box and The Fifty-Ninth Bear, by Sylvia Plath, under theoretical and critical perspectives which allow it to observe a dialogue in those texts with their historical context, on a dialectical relation between form and content as postulated by Fredric Jameson. We intend to elucidate how those narratives can be read beyond the autobiographical and therefore they articulate in their formal structure a female critical view of marriage in Cold War America. Historicizing both of these short stories using alterity as mediator and following the cultural model of understanding the female literary tradition, we will semantically broaden her criticism by inserting the fragments in the History. In addition, this critical exam, by electing Plath's short prose, allows us to shed light on the overlooked scope of her ouvre.
