Among them, the waveguides that use the detection scheme based on intensity stand out. These devices have been objects of great scientific interest, as they provide high sensitivity and simplicity in the detection scheme. With the advancement of nanofabrication techniques, the development of optical sensors based on waveguide nanostructures has represented an excellent way to integrate them into platforms known as a lab-on-a-chip. In this context, a refractive index sensor based on the intensity detection is proposed and numerically simulated. The proposed sensor is composed of a structure with a tapered waveguide of silicon nitride on a glass substrate, integrated with a sensing window. The tapered waveguide design aims to expand the interaction area of the evanescent field with the analyte, increasing the device sensitivity. In order to verify the sensor performance and provide a high fidelity numerical simulation, a 3D semi-vectorial beam propagation method is employed. Both bulk and surface maximum sensitivity was computed and the values 1701 %/RIU and 1.74 %/nm were obtained, respectively. The results suggest that the proposed sensor can detect a significant change on the refractive index and the layer thickness of a protein on aqueous solutions. For this, a literature review of the literature on the proposed topic was carried out, so that it was possible to do a content analysis for a qualitative approach through critical reading for the preparation of the proposals. From this, the possible gaps that agricultural management may have were identified and, thus, several proposals for improvements were created, divided into three aspects that are the basis of an organization's management: knowledge management, information management and management of people, however, the proposals can be applied together or individually, depending on the need and objective of the organization. And so, the results of the work are not limiting or perfectly conclusive, given the lack of work related to the sugarcane industry and the constant need to carry out further research to deepen the knowledge between the relationship between the concept of management and the spheres of the sugarcane industry.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Avaliação de um programa computadorizado de ensino de leitura e escrita de palavras com dificuldades ortográficas(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-06-24) Tamiozzo-Fonseca, Priscila Mainardi; Souza, Deisy das Graças de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4404800720856419; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6406435371437247The curriculum Learning to Read and Write in Small Steps (In Portuguese, Aprendendo a Ler e a Escrever em Pequenos Passos - ALEPP) aims to teach the reading and writing of Portuguese language words. ALEPP is organized in modules for online, individualized application, through a software platform (Computer Individualized Teaching Manager – In Portuguese, Gerenciador de Ensino Individualizado por Computador - GEIC). This study aimed to evaluate Module 2 of ALEPP, which aims to teach words with complex syllables involving digraphs and consonant clusters. The module programming includes 20 teaching units consisting of four steps per unit and four words per step, totaling 80 programmed steps (320 words). The programming includes teaching and assessment steps. The evaluations include: Module pre- and post-test and learning probes for all units (multiple baseline design across teaching units). Furthermore, each teaching step includes a pre- and a post-test and the schedule includes criteria that ensure that the student only progresses from one step to another if they reach excellence (100% correct answers for the words taught in the step); on the other hand, a step can also be omitted if the student obtains 100% correct answers in the pre-test. The main teaching tasks in all steps are 1) matching-to-sample between dictated and printed words (word recognition) and 2) dictation with constructed response. The present evaluation focused on programming efficiency, measured by the levels of learning achieved and the pace of the students' journey through the teaching steps. Data for analysis, related to the application by teachers or interns, were extracted from GEIC, in the period from 2017 to 2020. Sixty-two elementary school students, aged between seven and 14 years, who completed Module 2 were identified. Comparing the average data from the initial and final evaluation, the average percentage of correct answers increased from 63 to 91% in the dictation tasks and from 82 to 91% in the word recognition tasks. In the dictation task performed in the pre- and post-tests of the teaching steps, the average percentage increased from 86 to 96% of correct answers, whereas for word recognition there was a ceiling effect (high percentages from the beginning). Not all students completed all the teaching steps, as they met the criteria in the pre-test. Four students performed from 11 to 20% of the programmed steps, 11 students from 21 to 30%, 18 students from 31 to 50%, 13 students from 51 to 60%, 13 students from 61 to 70%, and three students performed from 71 to 80% of steps. The average number of steps performed was 35.3 (range from 9 to 64) and the average number of months to complete the module was 11 months (range from 5 to 16). The program proved to be efficient for teaching irregular words in the Portuguese language, as shown by the high percentages of correct answers in the final evaluation and post-test of the Module. It also proved to be viable for application in the school environment. However, it was observed that the variability in the input repertoire meant that many students did not need to perform all the programmed steps and, even so, the application time was long, which was arduous for students. Future studies may investigate the effects of Module 2 on students with a lower input repertoire. However, due to the presence of multiple mtDNA molecules in the cell, coexistence of mutant and wild-type mtDNAs (termed heteroplasmy) can mask disease phenotype unless a threshold of mutant molecules is reached. Importantly, mutant mtDNA level can change across lifespan as mtDNA segregates in an allele- and tissue-specific fashion, potentially leading to disease. Mitochondrial segregation is most evident in hepatic cells, which positively select for mtDNA mutations, including mutations potentially affecting protein sequence. Using Atg7 knockout and heteroplasmic mice with a deleterious mtDNA we show here that this phenotype relies on autophagy, implicating mtDNA degradation as a driving force of mtDNA segregation in the liver. The Atg7 gene is an E1-like enzyme, responsible for activating the two main conjugation systems required for elongation of the autophagosome, and its knockout results in the block of autophagy. The objective was to assess the perception of workers at a fintech about pleasure and suffering at work, in addition to comparing the work environment of a startup and traditional companies. To achieve this goal, interviews were conducted with 10 employees from the administrative, commercial and financial areas of a fintech located in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. From the responses collected, it was possible to understand the perception of these workers and identify the conditions of the work environment, the requirements, results, cooperation and competitiveness present in this environment. According to the results, fintechs present an environment without hierarchies, flexible, which promotes creativity and reasoning, these elements directly influence the mental activity and pleasure of employees during their work. Some experiences that generate suffering were also identified, such as competitiveness, doubt about the ability to perform tasks and stress. Seeking to answer the problem-question “How does dance influence the bodies of young children and the construction of their identities?”, the work is constituted as follows: Chapter I brings a memorial that reports a little about the author's trajectory regarding to object of research, contextualizing its connection to the theme. Chapter II addresses the concepts of dance, children and childhood that sustain the work, considering dance as an expression in the process of discovery and development of children's cultural identity, as well as reflecting on the insertion of dance in formal education. The results of the investigation reveal that dance influences the development of children's cultural identity in order to enable the discovery of the body, self-knowledge and is capable of giving new meaning to the experiences that children live with their bodies. Consequently, the use of fertilizers is rising, making it possible to increase productivity without expanding the agricultural area. Due to the high mobility of ions in the soil, the overuse of fertilizers has as a principal consequence the contamination of the soil, rivers, lakes, and aquifers. To overcome this problem, it is proposed to use enhanced efficiency fertilizers (EEF), making the fertilizer available more slowly to plants, reducing losses and contamination. The commercial materials available on the market use non-biodegradable polymers to cover the fertilizer, causing the accumulation of residues in the soil. An alternative to these polymers is those of natural origin and biodegradable. Thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate EEF materials developed in the group of polymeric materials and biosorbents (Lab. MPB). These materials are constituted by chitosan and carboxymethylcellulose and macro-enriched zeolite (K, N), and micronutrients (Zn, Cu, Mn, Fe). The zeolite was enriched with nutrients by the sorption technique, and the films were obtained by the casting technique, followed by pressing with temperature. The biodegradation was evaluated for 80 days following the ABNT 14283 standard with modifications. The biodegradation of the materials is related to the production of CO2. Based on the evolution of CO2, the developed materials presented a biodegradation profile superior to the commercial Basacote material. Also, we observed that micronutrients might have inhibited the biodegradation of the materials since the biodegradation was higher for material with only macronutrients. FTIR analyses showed that the material after biodegradation still presents characteristic bands of the polymers and the KNO3 fertilizer, which may indicate that only a portion of the nutrient was released in the medium. The methodology is based on bibliographical research. The study is based on the analysis of bibliographic texts. From analyzing the texts, the strengths of RSA public-key cryptography, also known as RSA asymmetric cryptography, are evident. As strengths, we can mention the greater security against attacks and code breakage by using big keys, even using super modern computers and with ultra-fast data processing and key management for all users of the system. In this context, the objective was to evaluate the quality of pepper seeds (Capsium chinense), extracted from fruits harvested at different stages of maturation and storage. For this, fruits were evaluated at two stages of maturation (orange and red) and submitted to storage for 0, 7, 14 days. The pepper strain CCA 37701 was used with weekly harvests. The stored fruits were kept at room temperature and, after extraction, the seeds were evaluated for their sanitary and physiological potential, by means of health tests, emergence percentage, emergence speed index, germination percentage, germination speed index. germination, accelerated aging, electrical conductivity and X-rays. For seeds extracted from red fruits, a higher percentage of germination and vigor was observed, regardless of the storage of the fruits, indicating that the seeds had possibly already reached physiological maturity. For orange fruits, the permanence of the seeds inside the fruits at 7 and 14 days was ideal to promote higher quality, indicating that their development was completed during the storage of the fruits. Regardless of the maturation stage and storage period, there was no influence of the presence of fungi in the results obtained regarding physiological potential. The analysis of X-ray images allowed observing the physical condition of the seeds during the different storage periods and maturation stages. In this line, a documentary analysis is proposed, defined as a qualitative methodology and characterized as bibliographical research, through a typically historical approach by the cultures and peoples that influenced the construction of the first developments in algebra. Therefore, the object of study of this research is based on data collected in the works of Eves (2011), Roque (2012), Boyer (1974) and Garbi (2010) and the normative documents of education in the State of São Paulo at the stage of elementary School. The objective is to understand how nature has been considered in pedagogy, as a fundamental element of education. From the studies of Cultural History, we present the theme of nature and its sensibilities (CORBIN, 1989; SOARES, 2016). In this perspective, the notions of nature and childhood can be understood under countless perspectives, of time and space. Based on this assumption, we analyze the thoughts of Jean-Jacques Rousseau in the book Emílio, or da Educação, the book "I", which presents a wide contribution to think about the construction of these notions. Seeking to answer how the different understandings of nature dialogue with the legal documents of "Early Childhood Education in Brazil", we propose the following reflections: Is it possible to see the marks of na education thoughts nature in these documents? Contamination control has been performed with antibiotics and acid treatment, although be effective, these techniques have limitations, which promotes the search for other antimicrobials. In this work, the antimicrobial activity of essential oil (EO) from ‘Fremont’ IAC 543 mandarin (cultivated at Poncirus trifoliata rootstock) on Lactobacillus fermentum, a contaminant bacterium from the ethanolic fermentation process, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae PE-2, an industrial yeast, have been evaluated. The OE was obtained by hydrodistillation and the following effects were studied: EO on L. fermentum in proliferative conditions (microdilution testes and disk diffusion); pH in addition with EO to control L. fermentum in non-proliferative condition; EO on L. fermentum and S. cerevisiae in proliferative and non-proliferative conditions (time-kill); EO concentration in non-proliferative conditions to control L. fermentum, in order to have minimal effect on S. cerevisiae viability; EO on L. fermentum and S. cerevisiae in co-culture; and EO application in cell treatment of fermentative cycles. In disk-diffusion assay, antibacterial activity was observed only with EO without dilution. Although, in microdilution test in proliferative conditions, when EO concentration was increased from 0.05% to 12.8% v/v, which has resulted in a decrease of maximum growth specific rate and a longer lag period, there was no inhibition of bacterial growing. In non-proliferative conditions (water), 0.2% v/v EO has resulted in a decrease of four logarithmic cycles on L. fermentum, the same effect of acid treatment in 2 hours. In time-kill tests, all the bacterial viability was lost and there was a decrease of one logarithmic cycle on S. cerevisiae after 1.5 hour with 0.2% v/v EO in water. When it was used with 3 mg/L of monensin antibiotic, the overall loss of bacteria viability has occurred after 4.5 hours, however in cultivation medium with EO, it was after 6 hours. The efficiency of EO on L. fermentum was maintained and the effect was lower for S. cerevisiae with the reduction of EO concentration from 0.2% to 0.05% v/v. At the last concentration, EO effect was lower for both microorganisms in co-culture. In sugar cane juice and adding EO to the cell treatments at three fermentative cycles, it was observed a decrease of 1.5 log cycles for yeast and bacterium, a lower ethanol production, increase in residual sugar concentration and pH. The results obtained has invalidated the application of the EO on fermentative process to control L. fermentum, nevertheless, the satisfactory antibacterial action revealed in pure cultivation stimulates further studies to discover new alternatives for EO to replace sulfuric acid in the cell treatment during fermentation process for bioethanol production.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Projeto e análise: órtese de acionamento pneumático para recuperação de movimentos manuais(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-06-24) Barbosa, Flávia Aparecida Santos; Moreno, Mariano Eduardo; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1307496862518321Currently in Brazil, several cases of patients who have suffered a stroke (cerebrovascular accident) are reported daily. One of the consequences of a stroke is the loss of movement on one side of the body. So that the patient can recover the lost movements, rehabilitation is necessary with constant monitoring of a multidisciplinary team. There is currently physical therapy equipment that aim to recover manual movements; however, they go from the principle that the hand original state is open. Given that in some cases the patient will have the closed hand as the original position, in which the muscles are contracted, and that the proposals already developed do not adequately address this situation, this work aims to study, analyze, and propose a prototype of device that meets this situation where the model presented will be actuated pneumatically. Due to the absence of similar equipment in the bibliography, a base geometry was elaborated to meet the proposed problem. Based on the proposed geometry and working principle, it was noted the need to use a hyperelastic material for the manufacture of the model. Due to that fact, materials found in the bibliography and that had already been used in previous works at UFSCar were used. After defining the geometry and material to be used, finite element simulations were performed to obtain the displacements that the device will be able to perform. However, in the agroforestry sector, responsible for a large part of the Brazilian economic GDP, work, software and information related to artificial intelligence are scarce. The objective of this work is to create a system based on artificial neural networks (ANN) for detection of eucalyptus leaf diseases, capable of performing digital image processing using computer vision techniques and training a neural network. with the multilayer Perceptron architecture using the Backpropagation training algorithm, through the Python programming language. The present work was developed with the collection of leaves with Mycosphaerella leaf spots and eucalyptus rust (Austropuccinia psidii), as well as healthy leaves for the creation of the dataset for training the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) multilayer perceptron (MLP) with the algorithm of backpropagation. The sheets were scanned and submitted to the first process carried out by the expert system, transforming the color images into grayscale, reducing from three color dimensions (RGB) to just one dimension, standardizing the width of the sheet and resizing its height without loss of image proportion and finally binarization to extract only the object of interest, generating a histogram with grayscale frequencies that was used as input to the neural network for training and validation. Eight topologies of Artificial Neural Networks were proposed, containing four topologies with one hidden layer of neurons and four topologies with the one with two hidden layers of neurons. In Brazil, the elderly population has the highest growth rate. Since 1988 with the Federal Constitution, Brazil has been implementing public policies aimed at this segment of the population. The National Elderly Policy and later the Elderly Statute were important milestones for guaranteeing the social rights of the elderly, creating conditions to promote their autonomy, integration and effective participation in society. The aging process and the experience of old age are strongly related to the place where the person live, which can influence social conditions, health and risk factors for the development of chronic degenerative diseases, and other major geriatric diseases, injuries and syndromes . Currently, the world is experiencing a pandemic caused by the new Coronavirus (SARS CoOV 2), which affects the elderly more aggressively, with an infectious disease, called COVID-19 by the World Health Organization - WHO. This population requires the provision of specialized care both in the area of health and social assistance, which complement family care, given that families have also undergone a major transformation process. The present study aimed to analyze and understand the demands and actions of the Social Assistance Policy manager, through its coordinators of the Basic Social Protection Services and the Special Social Protection Services (medium and high complexity), regarding the current situation. pandemic caused by the new Coronavirus (SARS-COV 2) in the elderly population, in a large city in the interior of the state of São Paulo. This is an observational, exploratory, qualitative study. The study involved 15 coordinators of social assistance equipment for basic and specialized social protection of Social Assistance, operating in the municipality, the sample being composed of: 94% of women, with an average age of 47 years, 94% of white individuals, 79% with formation of Social Worker, with an average time of 3.6 years in the current position. The thematic categories that make up the study are "Assistance Emergency" and "Service Management Emergency", reflecting the need for the rapid reorganization of services to serve the usual public and the new public that emerged during this period. The study revealed the tension between increased demand and the need for resources for care, showing the importance of assistance to vulnerable elderly people and their families in the pandemic context. As a result, the market demanded that supply chains be more agile and efficient, integrating to gain competitive advantages. Thus, the objective of this study is to identify which are the critical factors of success and failure in supply chain integration projects through a systematic literature review and supply chain integration after an acquisition of a retail company by another in the same sector. In this way, the impacts of the factors were studied: trust, information sharing, culture and relationship management, profitability, commitment and power. It was possible to identify, in the study, that profitability, culture and relationship management and information sharing were the most critical in the case studied. This term came up as a contraposition to the so-called “Green Revolution”, a movement that introduced pesticides and mechanization to agriculture. In Brazil there are examples of peasant movements that defend food sovereignty, such as MST- Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra. In this work, Horto Bela Vista settlement in Iperó-SP is studied, and more specifically Sítio Mãe Terra, in order to better understand how the food is produced there, how it is commercialized and how it can contribute to the achievement of Food Sovereignty.
