Item type:Item, Entre o liberalismo e o dirigismo democrático: a Assembleia Nacional Constituinte de 1946 e a gênese constitucional do desenvolvimentismo brasileiro(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-04-07) ;Souza, José Augusto Marques de ;Cepêda, Vera Alves ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4917331423373631 ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1629566453277162Gumiero, Rafael GonçalvesThis thesis examines the formation of the economic order in the Brazilian Constitution of 1946 through an analysis of the political and institutional dynamics of the National Constituent Assembly. It argues that the 1946 Constitution cannot be adequately understood through traditional dichotomous classification, such as liberal restoration versus authoritarian interventionist continuity, and should instead be interpreted as the outcome of a complex constitutional decision produced under conditions of structural conflict, political pluralism, and the need for democratic stabilization. The research adopts an analytical framework that combines constitutional theory, institutional analysis, and normative examination, shifting the focus from the constitutional text in isolation to the institutional mediations that filtered ideas, interests, and economic projects during the constituent process. It demonstrates that the constitutionalization of the economic order did not result from an arbitrary ideological choice, but from the historical recognition of the insufficiency of market mechanisms to address the structural challenges of Brazilian development. The dissertation contends that the 1946 The Constitution consolidated and legitimized state intervention and economic planning without abandoning the market economy or political freedoms. Normative ambiguity is interpreted as a deliberate constitutional technique for deferring and managing conflict, allowing the coexistence of competing projects within a single legal framework and contributing to democratic stability.Item type:Item, A new strategy to mitigate herbicide contamination: decentralized electrochemical treatment of real glyphosate-contaminated wastewater(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-04-07) ;Mandelli, Cecília Montanha ;Sgarbi, Ricardo ;Oliveira, Kaíque Souza Gonçalves Cordeiro ;Oliveira, Gabriel PalaceRuotolo, Luis Augusto MartinsElectrochemical treatment of wastewater is a promising way to reduce organic pollutant loads. The herbicide glyphosate is extensively used in agriculture, so the washing of its containers generates substantial volumes of harmful effluents. This study investigates the optimal conditions for electrolysis of a real glyphosate-contaminated wastewater, considering treatment time, energy consumption, and operational costs. Experiments were conducted using an electrochemical flow reactor fitted with a boron-doped diamond (BDD) anode. A factorial design was employed to evaluate the effects of current density (10–30 mA cm−2) and initial organic load (100–300 mg TOC L−1). Monitoring was performed of total organic carbon (TOC), chemical oxygen demand (COD), and cell potential. The use of a low-cost turbulence promoter (plastic mesh) improved mass transfer, enhanced mineralization efficiency, and reduced energy consumption, while the control of temperature had a minimal influence. Application of a current density of 30 mA cm−2 provided the best balance between treatment duration and energy efficiency. Predictive models were developed to estimate the electrolysis time and specific electrochemical energy consumption (SEEC). Operational cost related to electrochemical energy consumption ranged from USD 1.71 m−3 to USD 7.09 m−3, with values between USD 2.89 m−3 and USD 5.77 m−3 obtained for wastewater containing 300 mgTOC L−1 treated at 30 mA cm−2, demonstrating the feasibility of the process, even with a high organic load. These findings contribute to the development of optimized and cost-effective electrooxidation systems for the treatment of pesticide-contaminated effluents, supporting the sustainable management of agricultural wastewater.Item type:Item, Manejo da fertilidade em solos degradados e seus efeitos sobre as trajetórias iniciais da comunidade e a plasticidade funcional de espécies nativas na restauração florestal por semeadura direta(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-04-08) ;Mariano, Lucas Florêncio ;Silva, Francisca Alcivânia de Melo ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4122016283592995 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8664-0532Silva, José Mauro Santana daForest restoration through direct seeding is a low-cost alternative for recovering degraded areas; however, it is often limited by poor initial seedling establishment. This thesis investigated how soil fertility management, through liming and the application of organic and mineral fertilizers, influences the performance, nutrition, and organization of 37 native species in the Atlantic Forest under ecological restoration by direct seeding. Two experiments were conducted: a field experiment evaluating two levels of base saturation (V% = 25% and 50%) and three fertilization treatments (NPK 4-14-8, organic fertilizer - poultry litter, and a non-fertilized control) in soil previously abandoned and invaded by grasses; and a greenhouse experiment testing three levels of base saturation (V% = 3%, 25%, and 50%) and the same fertilization treatments, aiming to assess the nutritional response and plasticity of 13 tree species under degraded cut-slope soil conditions. The results showed that fertility management significantly altered soil chemical attributes, such as pH, exchangeable aluminum, and exchangeable bases, directly affecting species growth and establishment. The combination of liming with organic and mineral fertilization was more effective than isolated applications, promoting greater initial growth and improved community organization. However, responses varied among species, reflecting differences in ecological strategies and plasticity. It is concluded that soil correction and fertilization strategies adapted to species heterogeneity are essential to improve forest restoration success and to promote more resilient and functional communities in the long term.Item type:Item, Investigando caminhos para a introdução da Avaliação da Sustentabilidade Absoluta em compras sustentáveis de alimentos: apresentando o Food Procurement with a focus on absolute environmental sustainability assessment (FP-AESA)(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-04-09) ;Akim, Erica Kushihara ;Silva, Diogo Aparecido Lopes ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1101747760784249 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7514-7467https://lattes.cnpq.br/7194665162653753Food production and consumption systems represent a major driver of planetary boundary transgressions. In this scenario, sustainable procurement decisions can act as mechanisms to promote food systems that respect Earth’s carrying capacity. Therefore, the objective of this thesis was to propose a framework to introduce Absolute Environmental Sustainability Assessment (AESA) as a strategy for managing planetary boundaries within the sustainable food procurement process. The proposed model, named FP-AESA (Food Procurement with a focus on absolute environmental sustainability assessment), was structured around two perspectives: a simplified approach and an in-depth approach. To this end, the research comprised an exploratory literature review, followed by two case studies - one on food consumption in Brazil and another on meals served at a university restaurant - in addition to the validation of the framework by experts via the Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM). The review results indicated that Equal Per Capita (EPC) distributive justice is the most widely adopted allocation principle (52%) for the safe operating space in food AESA. Regarding the case studies, applying the simplified approach to Brazilian household consumption data revealed that the transgression of planetary boundaries is more severe in the freshwater use category than in climate change. Within this scale of Brazilian domestic consumption, beef recorded the highest transgression rates, whereas rice and eggs showed greater adherence to sustainable boundaries. In turn, the AESA under the in-depth approach, applied to the university restaurant scenario, identified ten critical processes, highlighting the Climate Change and Freshwater Eutrophication categories, whose impacts exceeded sustainability thresholds, driven mostly by beef and rice consumption. It was found, therefore, that different AESA results can be observed depending on the framework version applied, the carrying capacity reference adopted, and the chosen sharing principles. Finally, validation via FDM indicated that, despite resource and technical knowledge limitations, the strategic review and continuous learning stages of the model achieved a high level of consensus among experts. In summary, the application of these approaches demonstrates how to introduce planetary boundaries into sustainable procurement management, provided that the trade-offs and methodological uncertainties intrinsic to the process are considered. For management and public policy formulation, this research exemplifies the feasibility of adopting measurable and validated absolute sustainability criteria, which can be integrated to promote food security within planetary boundaries. This thesis presents a theoretical contribution by proposing a framework to integrate AESA into the sustainable procurement process for food and food services.Item type:Item, Roupas em trânsito: trajetórias do descarte têxtil no município de São Carlos – SP(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-04-10) ;Alberto, Gabriela dos Santos ;Machado, Igor José de Renó ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4705450652848752 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7811-2641https://lattes.cnpq.br/3647419175123876This research aims to analyze the trajectory of clothing disposal in the city of São Carlos – SP, investigating its social, cultural, economic, and environmental implications. The study starts from the Fundo Social de Solidariedade de São Carlos, a municipal institution that serves as a collection and redistribution point for clothing donations, and follows the pathways of cloths from their arrival to their final destination, including the city’s Ecopontos (solid waste collection sites). The methodology was based on fieldwork involving participant observation and unstructured interviews conducted between October 2025 and February 2026, complemented by visits to all municipal Ecopontos. The theoretical framework draws on the anthropology of material culture, engaging with authors such as Kopytoff, Ingold, Sahlins, Stallybrass, and Knowles, who conceive objects as carriers of social meanings embedded in flows of transformation. The results indicate that clothing disposal is perceived as a problem by the different actors involved: the Fundo Social faces difficulties with donations in poor condition, a scarcity of men’s clothing, and the lack of adequate places to send discarded items; the Ecopontos, in turn, register high public demand for textile disposal but lack the infrastructure to receive them, leading most textile waste to be sent to landfill. The research concludes that the problem of clothing disposal in São Carlos cannot be reduced to individual behaviors but reveals a structural gap in public policies and infrastructure for textile waste. The trajectories traced show that clothes continue to be transformed and produce social effects even after being discarded, confirming the importance of addressing the phenomenon beyond its environmental dimension and considering its social, cultural, and political implications.Item type:Item, “Que macaco é esse?" Aplicativo para identificação dos primatas do Estado de São Paulo(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-04-10) ;Machado, Maria Clara Ariki ;Monticelli, Cauê ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3124379403088046 ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/0167410031228634Arakaki, Paloma RochaIn the face of human threats to biodiversity and the impacts of anthropogenic actions on wildlife, the need to preserve ecosystems as a whole has become increasingly evident. Based on the idea that “we only protect what we know and what we care about,” an important step toward the conservation of primate diversity in the state of São Paulo was taken with the enactment of Normative Ordinance FF/DE No. 324/2020, which regulates the practice of primate watching (Monkey Watching) within São Paulo State Protected Areas (Unidades de Conservação – UCs). This ordinance opens new pathways for increasing knowledge about the species present in the state. Within this context, and with the aim of contributing to the objectives established in the Action Plan for the Conservation of Primates in the State of São Paulo, the National Action Plan for the Conservation of Atlantic Forest Primates and the Maned Sloth, and consequently to the conservation of primate species and their habitats, a smartphone application was developed to assist in the identification of primates in outdoor observation activities within the state of São Paulo. This is made possible through the app’s comprehensive content, which includes photographs and information on the species, their biology, the biomes they inhabit, as well as thematic sections such as “Threats,” “Why we should not feed monkeys,” and “Why monkeys are not pets”. For validation purposes, the application was tested and an evaluation questionnaire was administered in five state protected areas managed by Fundação Florestal: (1) Angatuba Ecological Station; (2) Caetetus Ecological Station; (3) Juréia-Itatins Ecological Station; (4) Carlos Botelho State Park, and (5) Morro do Diabo State Park. In total, 33 individuals—including university students, high school students, and employees of Fundação Florestal—tested the application during primate observation activities and completed a perception questionnaire regarding the final product of this project. All participants stated that the app helped them obtain information about primates and, in fact, assisted them in identifying specimens. Some contributed by suggesting the use of simpler terms that could be understood by users unfamiliar with the subject. Furthermore, participants emphasized the importance of addressing sensitive topics such as why primates are not pets, highlighting the product's relevance.Item type:Item, Seleção de matrizes e avaliação de características associadas ao vigor de Dipteryx alata Vogel(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-04-10) ;Pereira, Brenda Gillian ;Faria, Júlio Cézar Tannure ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/9288319742295650 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7081-3726Freitas, Miguel Luiz MenezesInitial seedling vigor is an important tool for evaluating seed physiological quality and selecting promising materials in native forest species. In this context, the objective of this study was to evaluate germination traits and initial seedling vigor of Dipteryx alata derived from mother trees with different diameter at breast height (DBH) values. The material was obtained from an experimental plantation located in Pederneiras, São Paulo, using seeds collected from ten mother trees. Physical and sanitary analyses of the seeds were performed, as well as daily evaluations of germination, emergence, and initial seedling growth. Parameters related to germination dynamics, morphological growth, and dry biomass production were also estimated. The results showed differences among treatments in germination speed, initial growth, and biomass accumulation, indicating variability in physiological vigor among the evaluated mother trees. Some treatments exhibited faster germination and better performance in shoot growth, root system development, and biomass production. However, no consistent association was observed between seedling performance and the DBH values of the mother trees. It was concluded that the evaluated traits were efficient in distinguishing materials regarding physiological vigor during the initial stages of development, although DBH alone was not a consistent indicator of progeny performance under the evaluated conditions.Item type:Item, A parceria entre universidade e escola nos estágios supervisionados do curso de Pedagogia da UFES(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-04-10) ;Casotte, Liliane Dias Heringer ;Vedovatto, Dijnane ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/6758025601578309 ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4345611767871369Anunciato, Rosa Maria MoraesSupervised Curricular Internships (SCIs) play an important role in teacher education, as they constitute the stage in which prospective teachers engage with the professional field, become familiar with the work routine, and understand the functioning of the school structure from the perspective of a teacher. However, for the internship to occur effectively, partnerships between Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and basic education schools must be established, requiring coordinated work between universities and schools. In this context, the present study sought to examine how the partnership between Ufes and basic education schools occurs within the scope of Supervised Curricular Internships (SCIs). The main objective was to identify the processes through which such partnerships are established to enable the implementation of supervised internships. Specifically, the study aimed to: (a) analyze the partnership arrangements between Ufes and basic education schools in the execution of SCIs; and (b) examine the challenges inherent in these partnerships within the internship context. The theoretical framework addressed the concepts of university–school partnership, professionalization, and supervision in internships. The study adopted a qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive research approach. The research field comprised Ufes and the basic education schools that host undergraduate teaching interns from the institution. This doctoral research focused on analyzing the university–school partnership in the implementation of SCIs within teacher education programs at the Goiabeiras Campus of Ufes, with particular emphasis on the on-campus Pedagogy program. The participants included 18 internship supervising teachers and 23 university internship advisors (faculty members). Data were collected through document analysis, surveys, and semi-structured interviews. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis techniques. The findings highlight the contributions of supervised internships to teacher education, particularly regarding the development of professional knowledge and the articulation between theory and practice. The main challenges identified in establishing partnerships with schools included scheduling conflicts that hinder adequate supervision of pre-service teachers and the need to limit the number of interns in classrooms due to the high demands placed on schools. Thus, the study demonstrates that these weaknesses must be overcome so that the effective implementation of SCIs is grounded in a shared commitment among universities, education systems, and schools, with the aim of strengthening the professionalization of teacher education. Item type:Item, Identificação de bolhas em ações e o desempenho financeiro: uma análise para as instituições mais relevantes do índice IFNC(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-04-13) ;Veiga, Matheus Borgatto Cerino da ;Carvalho, Flávio Leonel de ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/9615144436796386 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8488-9382Carrara, Aniela FagundesConsidering the importance of financial sector firms to the country’s economy, as facilitators of financial flows and providers of purchasing power, the objective of the present study is to quantify the existence of bubbles in the share prices of the common shares of the companies with the greatest weight in the IFNC index, namely Banco do Brasil S.A. (BBAS3), Banco Bradesco S.A. (BBDC3), IRB Brasil Resseguros S.A. (IRBR3), Banco Itaú S.A. (ITUB3), and Porto Seguros S.A. (PSSA3), and to relate the dated bubbles to the disclosure of the financial results of the firms analyzed. In doing so, the study seeks to discuss whether the bubbles in the share prices of these companies may be associated with economic and or financial events or whether they are temporally linked to the firms’ results. The data used consist of the closing prices of the shares of the companies mentioned above, covering the period from 31 July 2017 to 27 June 2025. Bubble identification followed the PSY procedure, based on the Generalized Supremum Augmented Dickey Fuller (GSADF) test, complemented by a Wild Bootstrap procedure to ensure more robust inference and reduce the risk of spurious detections. The study integrates bubble dating with traditional economic and financial performance indicators, namely ROA and ROE. The results show that the identification of episodes of explosive behavior is not always accompanied by a clear deterioration or improvement in fundamentals. At certain moments, the identified bubbles appear to be supported by actual changes in profitability, whereas at others they reflect expectations and narratives that go beyond what is observed in the companies’ financial statements.Item type:Item, Não por ser humana, mas por ser mulher: questões de gênero em Midnight Sun (2020), de Stephenie Meyer, uma leitura política(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-04-14) ;Lumini, Julia Leite ;Ferreira, Carla Alexandra ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/5522506928191940 ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/0447601691201621Ferreira, Carla AlexandraThis dissertation analyzes the novel Midnight Sun (2020), by the North American author Stephenie Meyer, through a political reading of the literary text, as proposed by Fredric Jameson (1992) and Ferreira (2018). The central objective of this research is to investigate how patriarchalism structures the romantic relationships depicted in the novel, considering the perspective of the narrator Edward Cullen. To this end, it is necessary to historicize Midnight Sun (2020) and situate it within the field of Young Adult literature, consolidated in the mid-twentieth century and aimed at an adolescent readership, traditionally associated with themes such as identity, love, and belonging. As a specific objective, the study seeks to demonstrate how the narrative figures gender inequality and a system of male domination in contemporaneity, understanding these elements as constitutive of the social and cultural formation of the United States, which has been marked by patriarchal values since its period of consolidation. Methodologically, the research is grounded in Anglo-American feminist criticism, particularly drawing on the contributions of Elaine Showalter (1997), articulated with Jameson’s (1992) contemporary dialectical criticism, with the aim of identifying the North American Political Unconscious as figured in the novel. As a contribution, this study seeks to expand the debate on gender and twenty-first-century North American literature, as well as to reinforce the critical legitimacy of Young Adult literature as an object of academic investigation.Item type:Item, Ecologia espacial como ferramenta para compreender os potenciais impactos de cães domésticos em uma unidade de conservação do Cerrado(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-04-15) ;Gonçalves, Beatriz Garcia ;Lima, Caio Filipe da Motta ;http://lattes.cnpq.br/5833399072087947 ;http://lattes.cnpq.br/5148317135041568Beisiegel, Beatriz de MelloThe domestic dog (Canis lupus familiaris) is an invasive species of global significance, posing a potential threat to native wildlife and biodiversity. Introduced to virtually every region of the planet, dogs—when poorly managed—can cause serious disturbances to wildlife and ecological imbalances, especially stray dogs or those raised to roam freely. These impacts include predation, transmission of infectious diseases, harassment, competition for resources and territory, hybridization with native canids, and predation on livestock. In this context, understanding the spatial behavior of these animals is essential for assessing their potential ecological impacts. This study investigated the spatial patterns of semi-domesticated dogs in the vicinity of the Serra de Caldas Novas State Park (PESCaN—GO), as well as their potential to invade the conservation area. The dogs were classified into two groups based on their origin: rural and peri-urban. A total of 36 individuals (15 females and 21 males) were monitored using GPS collars programmed to record coordinates every 10 minutes for 21 to 28 days (June through December 2024). Analyses were performed using R software, including estimates of home range and foray range (areas of movement beyond the dogs’ homes) via Kernel Density Estimation (KDE), using 95% and 50% isopleths. The average foray range was 165.20 hectares (ha). On average, the dogs spent 57.25% of their time at their homes, 37.36% on forays, and 5.12% visiting neighboring homes. During these forays, the dogs traveled an average of 83.52 m from their homes, reaching a maximum distance of 10.85 km. Dogs in rural areas had an average foray range of 262.55 ha (1.62–2,602.22 ha), values 8.27 times greater than those observed for dogs in peri-urban areas, whose average foray range was 11.47 ha (0.58–41.09 ha). Rural dogs undertook more extensive forays, with routes 44% longer than those of peri-urban dogs, although they spent a smaller proportion of their time on these forays. Large dogs also exhibited larger foray ranges and longer movements than small and medium-sized dogs. It was observed that 25% of the monitored dogs entered the interior of the park, representing a potential threat to the Cerrado’s wildlife. Considering the total area of PESCaN (approximately 12,000 ha), estimates based on kernel density indicated that 45.22% of the park’s area (5,500 ha) is frequently used by dogs, while 13.14% (1,613 ha) is intensively used. The results highlight striking differences between the spatial behaviors of dogs in rural and peri-urban areas, indicating the need for distinct management strategies for each group. While peri-urban areas have a higher density of dogs, dogs in rural areas explore significantly larger areas, potentially exerting greater pressure on wildlife. Thus, this study provides relevant information on the spatial use patterns of semi-domesticated dogs in the region, contributing to the development of management strategies aimed at mitigating impacts on biodiversity and promoting conservation in Cerrado protected areas.Item type:Item, Estratégias fotocatalíticas para a síntese de miméticos de glicopeptídeos e síntese do fármaco anticâncer Carfilzomibe(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-04-15) ;Chavarro Vélez, Jeimy Alejandra ;Paixão, Márcio Weber ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3773908504964104 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0421-2831https://lattes.cnpq.br/4922446535555256Peptide-based structures play a crucial role in biological recognition and contemporary drug development because of their structural versatility and functional significance. In this context, this thesis reports the development of photocatalytic methodologies for the synthesis of glycopeptide mimetics and sustainable synthetic routes for the peptide-based anticancer drug Carfilzomib. The work is divided into two chapters addressing methodological and applied challenges in peptide chemistry and pharmaceutical synthesis. In Chapter 1, visible-light-mediated photocatalytic strategies were developed for the diastereoselective synthesis of glycopeptide analogues. Although C-glycosides provide enhanced chemical and enzymatic stability, their synthesis typically requires complex multistep protocols and presents significant challenges in stereochemical control. To address these limitations, a photocatalytic radical addition strategy was investigated using glycosyl nitrones and 4-amido-1,4-dihydropyridines derived from amino acids and peptides. This approach enables stereoselective carbon–carbon bond formation under mild conditions, providing a robust platform for the construction of neoglycosylated peptide frameworks. Chapter 2 focuses on the development of an efficient and scalable synthetic route to Carfilzomib; a second-generation proteasome inhibitor used in the treatment of multiple myeloma. Considering the limited production of high-cost pharmaceuticals, this study proposes a sustainable and accessible synthetic strategy for this clinically relevant drug. The approach involves the visible-light photocatalytic synthesis of the unnatural amino acid L-homophenylalanine, followed by solid-phase peptide synthesis to assemble the peptide backbone and coupling of an epoxide fragment. An alternative route using a proline-functionalized resin enables controlled peptide elongation and cleavage via a Grignard reaction to generate a terminal alkene, followed by asymmetric epoxidation of α,β-unsaturated ketones as a late-stage functionalization step. According to the results obtained, photocatalysis and modern synthetic methodologies offer robust, stereocontrolled, and sustainable solutions for the synthesis of glycopeptide mimetics and complex peptide-based pharmaceuticals. Overall, this thesis demonstrates the applicability of visible-light-driven processes and strategic molecular design in addressing key challenges in glycopeptide chemistry and pharmaceutical manufacturing, contributing to advances in contemporary drug discovery and production.Item type:Item, Ftalimidas como anólitos em batérias de fluxo redox totalmente orgânicas(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-04-16) ;Silva, Rafaela Binda da ;Ferreira, Marco Antonio Barbosa ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/6874055640224407 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4954-6691https://lattes.cnpq.br/8800003742299471In the context of developing sustainable materials for energy storage, phthalimides have emerged as promising candidates for application as anolytes in redox flow batteries. In this work, a large-scale computational screening of 5,705 phthalimide derivatives was performed, including a strategically designed subset of bio-based molecules derived from biomass. Structure–property analyses, grounded in principles of physical organic chemistry, were employed to elucidate trends related to redox potential and radical stability, properties that are fundamental to the performance of redox flow batteries. Statistical modeling and clustering analyses were used to refine the selection of the most promising candidates. Based on these results, four compounds with distinct properties were synthesized. Among them, the bio-based compound 8’ stood out, presenting favorable properties and being synthesized through a sustainable route involving a Diels–Alder reaction followed by aromatization. Electrochemical characterization of phthalimide 8’ revealed quasi-reversible redox behavior, high solubility in acetonitrile, and excellent stability over more than 2,000 redox cycles, with no evidence of chemical decomposition. These results highlight the potential of computational approaches to accelerate the discovery of robust, renewable, and high-performance organic materials for next-generation energy storage systems.Item type:Item, Tempo de trabalho, tempo de estudo: experiências de jovens mulheres do coletivo Da Raiz ao Fruto(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-04-17) ;Cantalejo, Marriete de Sousa ;Corrochano, Maria Carla ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7714353975585252 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8030-6461https://lattes.cnpq.br/8840741483054239This study investigates the role of the Da Raiz ao Fruto Collective as a space of resistance and community care in the face of the neoliberal scenario of precarious work and social acceleration (Rosa, 2019). The central objective is to analyze to what extent the organization of the collective enables young mothers to resignify experiences of youth and other temporalities through community care. Grounded in the sociologies of time and gender, the thesis uses the categories of sexual division of labor (Kergoat, 2009) and supports (Martuccelli, 2007) to understand how the intersectionalities of race, class, and territory traverse the use of time. This qualitative research involved administering sociodemographic questionnaires to 16 young women, completing time-use diaries (referring to Wednesdays and Saturdays) with 13 participants, and conducting 13 semi-structured interviews between September 2023 and the first half of 2024. Active participant observation was also used between November 2022 and May 2024. The results show that young women tend to postpone motherhood and marriage as a strategy to increase the time dedicated to academic training, seeking to combine personal fulfillment with qualified entry into the job market. A generational "protection pact" was identified, in which the mothers of the participants assume reproductive work to enable their daughters' education. Although young women are reached by public education policies, a gap is noted in public policies focused on work and care for this population. It is concluded that, despite the overload and temporal desynchronization, the collective acts as an essential support and safe space, promoting leisure experiences and autonomy that allow young women to subvert the logic of immediacy and seek temporal emancipation.Item type:Item, Diversidade e estrutura genética em populações de vida livre do mico-leão preto (Leontopithecus chrysopygus): implicações para a conservação(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-04-17) ;Zanella, Thais Regina ;Freitas, Patrícia Domingues de ;http://lattes.cnpq.br/5647631868534064 ;http://lattes.cnpq.br/6627975255087423Culot, LaurenceUnderstanding the genetic diversity and population structure of endangered species provides essential information for the development of conservation actions. The black lion tamarin (Leontopithecus chrysopygus), an endemic primate from the Atlantic Forest of São Paulo state, is currently classified as endangered and subject to conservation actions aiming to assure its survival within a biome historically threatened by deforestation and fragmentation. Low density, isolated populations pose risks to the genetic variability and population viability of the species. Moreover, knowledge gaps regarding the genetics of free-ranging populations can compromise the design of effective management and conservation strategies. Wild populations of the black lion tamarin from ten different locations across the species’ range in the Upper, Middle and Lower Paranapanema River regions were investigated, focusing on currently undersampled areas. Fragments of the D-loop region of mitochondrial DNA and microsatellite loci were analyzed in order to investigate the genetic diversity and population structure, assess population viability in terms of retention of genetic diversity, and infer kinship relationships and socio-reproductive aspects. Results revealed low levels of genetic diversity in 70% of the analyzed populations, with only three populations showing moderate diversity levels. Evidence of population bottlenecks was identified in all populations, and only the Morro do Diabo population consistently showed long-term genetic viability. Mating systems showed flexibility, with evidence of polygamy in 25% of social groups, including cases of polygyny and polyandry. Genetic structure patterns were detected for both markers, which were interpreted considering historical and contemporary factors that possibly shaped the distribution of genetic variability in the different regions of the species’ current range. Results presented here contribute to the understanding of the diversity and genetic structure of the black lion tamarin and provide relevant information for planning management and conservation actions aimed at maintaining the viability of the species in the wild.Item type:Item, O Programa Institucional de Acolhimento e Incentivo à Permanência Estudantil (PIAPE) - tecendo presença, cuidado e pertencimento(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-04-17) ;Castelani, Gisele Aparecida Zutin ;Riscal, Sandra Aparecida ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/8209718458963475 ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/9814956676596270Ribeiro Júnior, DjalmaThis thesis’ purpose is to analyze the “Programa Institucional de Acolhimento e Incentivo à Permanência Estudantil - PIAPE”, at the Federal University of São Carlos (PIAPE), which aims to encourage welcoming, the students permanence, to tackle institutional violence and situations of socio-economic vulnerability. Therefore, the field of research was the projects submitted to the Dean’s Office of Community and Student Affairs at the Federal University of São Carlos. The research involved projects during the years 2019-2023. For the quantitative and qualitative research, the instrument used was the projects and their reports (final, project coordination, scholarship holder and user reports) that took place before, during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. In the systematization presented here, we started from the Public University for Whom path, relating it to themes such as Affirmative Action Policies and the Student Assistance Program, seeking to talk to policies and mechanisms that create environments that, in addition to inclusion, create spaces for permanence, bonding and support networks. To compose this rescue and contribute to the object of the research, a brief incursion was made into the Federal University of São Carlos with regard to its history in the battlefront for a public university for all and the Pro-Rectory of Community and Student Affairs, and important markers for the program's proposal that guided the research: 1) "How did the projects behave during this pre-pandemic, pandemic, and post-pandemic journey?" "What lines of research do the projects fit into?" What was the quality of the actions that reached the people served by the projects, both as coordinators, as active scholarship holders, and as users and users participating in the actions. The aim was to present the projects developed in this timeframe (2019-2023), which contribute to student permanence, through collective strategies, promotion of spaces for care and belonging related to gender issues and racial ethnic demands in public universities, collective construction of coping strategies for current challenges related to academic daily life, such as fears, anxieties, mourning, isolation and belonging, in this way the analysis sought to be a parameter for future calls for proposals, with the proposal to promote fairer, more equitable and humane insertions in public higher education in this country. Finally, as a product of this thesis, an ebook was produced with the projects and photos.Item type:Item, Avaliação de UX de Sistemas ADAS para ecossistemas de trânsito urbano: um conjunto de diretrizes orientadas à simulação em ambientes imersivos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-04-17) ;Barros, Anelise Neves de ;Zaina, Luciana Aparecida Martinez ;http://lattes.cnpq.br/0192085115595443 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1736-544Xhttp://lattes.cnpq.br/0466369271206804Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) have been applied to increase traffic safety and assist drivers while driving. In this context, driving simulators have been used as tools for studies on driver behavior, allowing the analysis of human and cognitive factors without exposing participants to real risks. However, there are still gaps in the evaluation of user experience in driving simulation environments, especially regarding the lack of guidelines for evaluating user experience and configuring the simulation environment. In this scenario, the objective of this dissertation was to propose a set of guidelines to support the evaluation of driver experience during interaction with ADAS systems in driving simulators. To achieve this objective, the research was conducted in multiple stages. Initially, a literature review was carried out to understand the concepts related to user experience evaluation, human-computer interaction, ADAS systems, and driving simulators. Then, an experimental study was conducted using a driving simulator to investigate aspects related to workload, situational awareness, and driver performance during simulated driving. Based on the results obtained from the literature and the experimental study, an analysis of the information was conducted, resulting in the development of guidelines to support user experience evaluation in this context. These guidelines were then validated by specialists through focus groups, allowing the analysis of the clarity, relevance, and application of the proposed guidelines. The results indicated that the guidelines support the planning and conduction of user experience evaluation studies in driving simulators involving ADAS systems. As the main contribution, this dissertation presents a set of guidelines that can support researchers and developers in evaluating driver experience and configuring traffic simulation environments.Item type:Item, A prática da biblioterapia na perspectiva de bibliotecários: estudo misto-exploratório(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-04-17) ;Costa, Larissa Santos da ;Galvão, Maria Cristiane Barbosa ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/9163421021115381 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3971-5743https://lattes.cnpq.br/3349842763502783In this study, a developmental bibliotherapy approach was adopted, aimed at promoting well-being, self-knowledge, and socio-emotional strengthening through the mediation of literary reading and the use of texts with metaphorical foundations as a resource. The study was based on the role of the librarian as the mediator of the reading and reflection process, without connection to clinical psychotherapeutic treatment. The general objective of the study was to analyze how librarians were involved in bibliotherapy practices, based on the analysis of scientific production in the field and the perceptions of Brazilian librarians regarding institutional and professional preparedness for the implementation of such actions. From this perspective, the research focused on the following problem: how is the involvement of Brazilian librarians in bibliotherapy practices configured, considering levels of knowledge, education, and professional practice? To this end, a mixed-method approach was applied, with an exploratory nature and a sequential design (QUAL>QUAN), consisting of a literature review and a cross-sectional quantitative study using an online questionnaire administered to Brazilian librarians, whose data were analyzed through descriptive statistics and content analysis. In the qualitative phase, the study analyzed national and international scientific publications on bibliotherapy, which were categorized into four thematic axes: 1. overview and conceptualization of bibliotherapy; 2. bibliotherapy for specific population groups; 3. bibliotherapy in different contexts and types of libraries; and 4. professional education and practice of librarians in bibliotherapy. The results highlighted the diversity of contexts in which bibliotherapy is applied, such as hospitals, universities, schools, and community spaces, as well as training gaps that indicate the need to consolidate bibliotherapy as a field of study and professional practice. In the second stage, 208 librarians participated in the study, distributed across different Brazilian states and predominantly working in university, school, and public libraries. The results revealed that the majority of respondents, 165 (79%), did not receive specific training in bibliotherapy during their undergraduate studies, although they expressed interest in learning about or expanding their knowledge of the use of reading as a care resource. The findings also revealed a lack of awareness of existing initiatives, as well as challenges for implementation, particularly related to structural and institutional limitations. It is concluded that, although bibliotherapy is not yet widely institutionalized, there is a promising scenario marked by interest in learning about and organizing informational processes related to bibliotherapy. Based on these findings, a conceptual model is presented, which systematizes guidelines for the implementation of bibliotherapy in information units.Item type:Item, Revisão sistemática da literatura de modelos de otimização para o planejamento de redes de logística reversa de resíduos eletroeletrônicos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-04-22) ;Ballerini, Lizete de Paula ;Toso, Eli Angela Vitor ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/6663631731115739 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7531-0300https://lattes.cnpq.br/1813756661264536Global waste generation is rapidly increasing; in response, industries and policymakers are prioritizing circular economy initiatives and waste recycling to reduce environmental impact and operational costs. Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) is among the fastest-growing waste streams, and while it contains hazardous materials, it also offers opportunities for resource recovery. However, managing WEEE is complex due to the high capillarity of collection points and the challenges of transport logistics. The literature on optimization models for reverse network planning problems and decision support systems can help solve these problems, improving efficiency and environmental performance in Reverse Logistics and Closed Loop structures. This dissertation examines optimization models for Reverse Logistics network planning, analyzing how social, environmental, and economic factors are considered in decision-making, such as facility location, transportation, inventory management, and network design. The findings reveal that in WEEE Reverse Logistics, only 38% apply the closed-loop system, reflecting its logistical and technological complexities. Cost minimization remains the dominant objective in 19% of the models, but 60% integrate environmental considerations and 19% adopt a Triple Bottom Line approach, incorporating economic, environmental, and social dimensions. Despite transportation being a critical factor in reverse logistics planning, 22% of the models address the selection of transportation modes. These findings highlight the need for optimization approaches that integrate multi-objective decision-making and sustainability-oriented frameworks. By addressing these gaps, this research contributes to strengthening WEEE Reverse Logistics, providing support for the construction of more efficient, economically viable, and environmentally sustainable systems.
