Resumo

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) have been applied to increase traffic safety and assist drivers while driving. In this context, driving simulators have been used as tools for studies on driver behavior, allowing the analysis of human and cognitive factors without exposing participants to real risks. However, there are still gaps in the evaluation of user experience in driving simulation environments, especially regarding the lack of guidelines for evaluating user experience and configuring the simulation environment. In this scenario, the objective of this dissertation was to propose a set of guidelines to support the evaluation of driver experience during interaction with ADAS systems in driving simulators. To achieve this objective, the research was conducted in multiple stages. Initially, a literature review was carried out to understand the concepts related to user experience evaluation, human-computer interaction, ADAS systems, and driving simulators. Then, an experimental study was conducted using a driving simulator to investigate aspects related to workload, situational awareness, and driver performance during simulated driving. Based on the results obtained from the literature and the experimental study, an analysis of the information was conducted, resulting in the development of guidelines to support user experience evaluation in this context. These guidelines were then validated by specialists through focus groups, allowing the analysis of the clarity, relevance, and application of the proposed guidelines. The results indicated that the guidelines support the planning and conduction of user experience evaluation studies in driving simulators involving ADAS systems. As the main contribution, this dissertation presents a set of guidelines that can support researchers and developers in evaluating driver experience and configuring traffic simulation environments.
