Solid-state sodium batteries have attracted increasing interest due to the abundance and low production cost of sodium, as well as the potential for improved safety compared to batteries employing flammable liquid electrolytes. Among the most promising solid electrolytes is Na3Zr2Si2PO12 (NZSP), a member of the NaSICON family, which exhibits high ionic conductivity. However, its conventional processing requires calcination and sintering steps at high temperatures and long dwell times, promoting sodium and phosphorus volatilization and increasing energy consumption. In this work, Reactive Flash Sintering (RFS) was investigated as an alternative route to promote both NaSICON phase formation and densification of NZSP in a single processing step. The effects of the maximum applied power, dwell time, and power ramp rate on phase formation, microstructure, and electrical properties were systematically evaluated. The results demonstrated that the processing condition of 150 mW mm-3, combined with a power ramp rate of 30 mW mm-3 min-1 and a dwell time of 15 min, enabled the production of samples with a relative density of approximately 96%, a total ionic conductivity of 1.14 ± 0.11 mS cm-1, and an activation energy of 0.30 ± 0.01 eV. In comparison, conventionally processed samples exhibited lower conductivity (0.75 ± 0.02 mS cm-1) and higher activation energy (0.35 ± 0.01 eV). The use of sacrificial powder during conventional sintering, aiming to reduce the loss of volatiles, such as sodium or phosphorus, at high temperatures, increased the conductivity to values comparable to those obtained by RFS, indicating that the main advantage of the electric field-assisted process is associated with the reduction of volatile species losses during processing. The results demonstrate, for the first time, the feasibility of producing NZSP electrolytes by Reactive Flash Sintering directly from unreacted precursor powders, highlighting the potential of this technique as a rapid and energy-efficient route for the fabrication of solid electrolytes.

This study analyzed water erosion susceptibility and Natural Erosion Potential (NEP) in the Santa Maria do Leme Stream watershed, located in São Carlos, São Paulo, Brazil, considering land use and land cover changes between 2014 and 2024. The research aimed to evaluate soil loss potential through the application of the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE), combined with geoprocessing techniques, temporal land use analysis, and assessment of Permanent Preservation Areas (PPAs). Environmental and geospatial data were used, including a Digital Elevation Model generated from ALOS/PALSAR satellite data, pedological information from IBGE, climatic data from INMET, and land use and land cover maps from the MapBiomas platform. Based on these data, the RUSLE factors were estimated: rainfall erosivity, soil erodibility, relief, cover and management, and conservation practices. PPAs were also delimited according to the Brazilian Forest Code, considering 30-meter buffers for watercourses and 50-meter buffers for springs. The results showed significant land use changes over the analyzed decade, with the expansion of urbanized areas and mixed-use mosaics to the detriment of pasture areas and sugarcane cultivation. The RUSLE factors indicated that water erosion in the watershed is strongly associated with anthropogenic changes, especially the reduction of vegetation cover and the expansion of more intensive land uses. The generated maps indicated a predominance of soil losses classified as slight to moderate, with punctual occurrences of areas classified as moderate to high susceptibility. In contrast, the NEP results remained relatively stable between 2014 and 2024, with a predominance of the very low class, demonstrating that natural factors alone do not represent high erosive fragility in the watershed. In PPAs, the low NEP and soil loss values reinforced the importance of vegetation in soil protection, reduction of surface runoff, and conservation of water resources. Therefore, the integration of geotechnologies, temporal analysis, and environmental modeling through RUSLE proved to be efficient for identifying areas susceptible to water erosion and supporting environmental planning, territorial management, and PPA conservation actions.

Long COVID (LC) is a condition that generally manifests within three months after acute SARS-CoV-2 infection, with symptoms persisting for at least two months and without an alternative diagnostic explanation. Evidence suggests that alterations in the autonomic nervous system (ANS) may contribute to manifestations such as fatigue, palpitations, exercise intolerance, and post-exertional malaise. Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is a widely used non-invasive method for assessing autonomic modulation and its responses to the physical stress imposed by cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET). The present study aimed to investigate the autonomic response of individuals with LC during and after CPET using linear and nonlinear HRV analyses, comparing them with a control group (CON) previously infected with SARS-CoV-2 but without persistent symptoms. Thirty-eight physically active young adults aged 18 to 40 years participated in the study: 18 with LC and 20 previously infected controls without persistent symptoms. Analyses were performed at nine time points: rest, peak exercise, immediately after exercise, and at 3, 5, 10, 30, and 60 minutes and 24 hours after the test. This was an observational study with continuous recording of RR intervals using a heart rate monitor, followed by processing in Kubios HRV software. CPET was performed on a treadmill using the Bruce protocol. Analyses were conducted in RStudio (p < 0.05). After filtering the RR intervals (>95% normal beats), linear and nonlinear HRV metrics were extracted at the nine time points. Normality and homogeneity were assessed using the Shapiro-Wilk and Levene tests. Between-group comparisons were performed using Student's t-test or the Mann-Whitney test, according to data distribution. For analyses over time, three-way ANOVA was applied, followed by post hoc comparisons with Tukey adjustment or false discovery rate (FDR) control. Kaplan-Meier curves were used to estimate the time to autonomic recovery, and the log-rank test was used to compare groups. Associations between age and pNN50 were assessed using Pearson's or Spearman's correlation. The discriminative accuracy of the metrics was investigated using ROC curves and AUC comparisons according to the DeLong method. The hypothesis was that the LC group would exhibit greater vagal withdrawal at peak exercise and slower parasympathetic reactivation. No consistent overall differences were observed between the LC and CON groups for most metrics, with only isolated variations across subgroups and sexes. The findings did not support the hypothesis of autonomic impairment associated with LC in this sample, suggesting that potential effects may be subtle, compensated for by physical fitness, or not detectable by the metrics used. These findings provide data for future investigations and rehabilitation strategies.

One way to enable the use of renewable energy would be to produce hydrogen to act as an energy carrier. However, its storage is a challenge. An alternative would be to store it in a solid state using metal hydrides. Among the hydrides, MgH2 presents excellent gravimetric capacity and cyclability. However, its slow kinetics, associated with operating temperatures >300°C, limit its application. To overcome these limitations, additives are used along with processing techniques. Iron is already employed, showing remarkable performance depending on how it is incorporated. In this research, a magnesium composite with 8% at. Fe was synthesized by rheocasting. The ingot was characterized to verify the iron distribution, and the selected region was processed by manual and rotary filing. Part of the filings was exposed to air; the remainder was ground for 30, 60, and 120 minutes. The materials were characterized by XRD, SEM, DSC, TG, volumetric tests in a Sieverts-type apparatus, and TEM. Fe was heterogeneously distributed throughout the ingot, with the lower region having the highest content (average of ~10.42% wt. Fe). The material containing Fe exhibited superior kinetics and a negligible incubation period when compared to Mg; furthermore, it showed resistance to air exposure. The addition of graphite provided further improvement in kinetics, reaching a transformed fraction of approximately 0.4 in 120 minutes. The apparent activation energy was 160.91 kJ/mol and 135.65 kJ/mol for rotary-processed and manually processed Mg, respectively. For the material containing Fe, the apparent activation energy was 125.91 kJ/mol and 123.88 kJ/mol for rotary-processed and manually processed material, respectively. Therefore, the addition of Fe reduced the apparent activation energy of MgH2 desorption by ~23%.

The addition of boron to steels has been identified as a promising strategy for promoting microstructural refinement and increasing mechanical strength, particularly in materials produced by laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). However, the mechanisms responsible for these modifications are not yet fully understood. In this context, the present work investigated the effect of boron addition on alloys based on AISI 316L stainless steel produced by LPBF, comparing commercial 316L with the modified Mo3 and Mo4 alloys, both containing 0.75 wt.% boron and different molybdenum contents of 3.0 and 4.0 wt.%, respectively. Initially, the processing parameters were optimized using a Box-Behnken experimental design, resulting in the selection of 300 W laser power, 250 mm/s scanning speed, 70 µm hatch spacing, and 30 µm layer thickness. The alloys were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Additionally, the effect of cooling rate on microstructural evolution was evaluated by casting the alloys in a stepped mold, using different mold sections to obtain distinct cooling conditions during solidification. The cast samples were characterized by SEM, XRD, and hardness testing. The results showed that boron addition promoted grain refinement, reduced crystallographic texture intensity, and increased hardness and mechanical strength. The Mo4 alloy exhibited residual ferrite and Cr- and Mo-rich precipitates, with the Mo₃B₂ and Cr₂B phases identified by TEM. In the cast alloys, a reduction in cooling rate promoted an increase in interdendritic spacing and greater ferrite retention. The modified alloys achieved ultimate tensile strengths above 1000 MPa, mainly associated with microstructural refinement and boride formation.

The increasing adoption of filtered tailings stacks as an alternative to conventional tailings dams has intensified the need for tools capable of assessing not only the stability of these structures but also their post-failure behavior under large-deformation conditions. Although the Finite Element Method (FEM) is widely used in geotechnical engineering, its application to the simulation of mass movements is limited by significant mesh distortion during the evolution of failure. In this context, the Material Point Method (MPM) emerges as a promising alternative, allowing large deformations and the transport of the mobilized mass to be represented more consistently. This study aimed to evaluate the applicability of MPM in simulating the hypothetical failure of a Waste Rock and Tailings Disposal Stack (PDER), investigating the evolution of the mass movement and the runout distance of the mobilized material. As a case study, the Tamanduá PDER, located at the Brucutu Mine in São Gonçalo do Rio Abaixo, Minas Gerais, Brazil, was analyzed. A two-dimensional numerical model was developed using the open-source software ANURA3D, employing geotechnical parameters obtained from laboratory tests carried out on the tailings, waste rock, and foundation materials. Initially, the stability condition of the stack was verified using the design parameters. Subsequently, three hypothetical failure scenarios were evaluated, representing progressive levels of degradation of the geotechnical properties: (A1) reduction of the strength and stiffness parameters of the starter dyke; (A2) maintenance of the dyke degradation combined with a reduction in the strength and stiffness parameters of the tailings; and (A3) combined degradation of the starter dyke and waste rock, representing the most critical condition analyzed. The simulations reproduced the formation of the failure surface, the temporal evolution of displacements, the velocity fields, and the final runout distance of the mobilized mass in three representative sections of the stack. The results showed that the progressive degradation of the geotechnical properties led to a significant increase in the mobilization of the mass, with substantial increases in displacements, velocities, and runout distance, reaching approximately 162 m in the most critical condition analyzed. The results demonstrated that MPM adequately represents mechanisms associated with large deformations and post-failure behavior, allowing the continuous evolution of the mass movement to be tracked. It is concluded that the Material Point Method is a robust tool for analyzing hypothetical failures of filtered tailings stacks, enabling the estimation of the propagation of the mobilized mass and supporting risk assessment studies and the planning of mitigation measures. In addition to demonstrating the applicability of MPM to a real mining case, this research contributes to expanding its use in Brazilian geotechnical engineering by proposing an analysis methodology based on progressive degradation scenarios of the materials composing the stack.

This master's thesis examines Spanish language teaching within the State of São Paulo's Language Study Centers (CEL SP) project, established in 1987, with a focus on the Curricular Guidelines for Language Study Centers (in Portuguese, Diretrizes Curriculares para os Centros de Estudo de Línguas) (2020). The motivation for this study is linked to the researcher's personal and professional trajectory within the context of CEL SP, as a student, intern, Spanish language teacher, and supervisor of teaching interns. The research objectives are: (1) to contextualize the publication of the Curricular Guidelines through an analysis of legislative documents regulating the CEL SP and (2) to analyze the document itself, with an emphasis on the section dedicated to Spanish teaching. This is a qualitative, documentary-based study that analyzes decrees, resolutions, and the Curricular Guidelines themselves. The study highlights that CEL SP serves as an important space for resistance and the preservation of Spanish language teaching within the São Paulo state public school system, both before and after the repeal of Law No. 11,161/2005. Analysis of the documents demonstrates that, throughout its trajectory, the project underwent various reorganizations but remained characterized by the absence of specific curricular guidelines until the publication of the Curricular Guidelines in 2020. The research indicates that the document analyzed, despite having been published in 2020, is not based on contemporary documents and guidelines, such as the BNCC (National Common Curricular Base). However, it seeks to foster a critical, plurilingual, and intercultural approach to education. Furthermore, it is possible to observe the value placed on oral communication, in alignment with the governing legislative documents.

Electrochemical treatment of wastewater is a promising alternative for reducing organic pollutant loads. Glyphosate herbicide is widely used in agriculture, and the washing of its containers generates significant volumes of hazardous wastewater. This study investigated the optimal conditions for the electrolysis of a real glyphosate-contaminated effluent, considering treatment time, energy consumption, and operational costs. The experiments were carried out using a flow-through electrochemical reactor equipped with a boron-doped diamond (DDB) anode. A factorial design was employed to evaluate the effects of current density (10–30 mA cm⁻²) and initial organic load (100–300 mg TOC L⁻¹). Total organic carbon (TOC), chemical oxygen demand (COD), and cell potential were monitored throughout the experiments. The use of a low-cost turbulence promoter improved mass transfer, increased mineralization efficiency, and reduced energy consumption, while temperature control showed minimal influence. The application of a current density of 30 mA cm⁻² provided the best balance between treatment time and energy efficiency. Predictive models were developed to estimate electrolysis time and energy consumption. Operational costs ranged from USD 1.71 m⁻³ to USD 7.09 m⁻³, with values between USD 3.55 m⁻³ and USD 4.37 m⁻³ obtained for effluents containing 300 mg TOC L⁻¹ treated at 10–30 mA cm⁻², demonstrating the feasibility of the process even under conditions of high organic load. These results contribute to the development of optimized and economically viable electrooxidation systems for the treatment of pesticide-contaminated wastewater, supporting the sustainable management of agricultural wastewaters.

The transition toward AI-native Radio Access Network (RAN) architectures further intensifies the demand for cloud infrastructure resources, as distributed intelligence, machine learning inference, and real-time data analytics become integral components of future RAN deployments. Containerized and virtualized network functions in Cloud RAN environments increasingly rely on hardware acceleration and workload offloading to meet the stringent latency, throughput and energy efficiency requirements of Fifth Generation (5G) Advanced and emerging Sixth Generation (6G) mobile networks. Within the 5G New Radio (NR) Physical Layer (PHY), Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) decoding represents a computationally intensive workload that depletes host CPU resources. While offloading to Data Processing Unit (DPU) offers general purpose core relief, it introduces systemic latency overheads. This research project evaluates an acceleration framework that offloads the 5G NR LDPC encoding and decoding pipeline from an OpenAirInterface (OAI) x86 host to an ARM-based NVIDIA BlueField-3 DPU utilizing the Arm RAN Acceleration Library (ArmRAL) over a Communication Channel. Hardware acceleration provides several benefits for 5G NR. Specialized accelerators such as Graphics Processor Unit (GPU), Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), and DPU execute computationally intensive PHY functions in parallel, significantly increasing throughput while reducing processing latency to meet the stringent timing requirements of 5G. They also improve energy efficiency by delivering higher performance per watt than general-purpose CPUs. In addition, offloading functions such as LDPC decoding, Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), and beamforming relieves the host CPU, allowing it to focus on higher-layer protocol processing, scheduling, and network management. These advantages improve system scalability and make hardware acceleration a key enabler of cloud-native Open RAN deployments. In this work the ArmRAL LDPC kernels on the BlueField-3 ARM Cortex-A78AE cores are functionally correct, producing output bit-identical to the OAI software baseline as verified through Block Error Rate (BLER)–Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) characterization under Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) and Tapped Delay Line A (TDL-A30) fading channels, and execute competitively with the x86 software baseline. However, the host-visible per-CB Communication Channel (Comch) latency exceeds the slot budget by two orders of magnitude, producing a substantial Flow Completion Time (FCT) slowdown and energy efficiency degradation relative to the OAI software baseline across end-to-end experiments. Our results show that the bottleneck is the per-CB Comch framework overhead between the host and the DPU, rather than ARM compute capability or Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) payload transfer, identifying host-visible Comch latency as the dominant architectural barrier to transparent lookaside PHY acceleration and quantifying its impact on FCT, throughput, and gross energy consumption relative to the OAI software baseline. Future work directions include persistent Comch contexts, Data Center Infrastructure-on-a-Chip Architecture (DOCA) Direct Memory Access (DMA)-based data paths, and slot-level OAI interfaces approaching an inline acceleration model.

The management of own-source revenues has become increasingly relevant in the context of federal universities, particularly in light of fiscal constraints and instability in the execution of discretionary resources. This study analyzes the management of own-source revenues at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) from 2021 to 2025, based on Transaction Cost Theory (TCT), with the aim of understanding the institutional conditions that influence the conversion of revenue collection into effective budget execution capacity. The research is characterized as a single-case study of a descriptive-explanatory nature, developed through a predominantly qualitative approach, with complementary use of quantitative data. Data were obtained through documentary analysis of institutional reports, regulations, government budget monitoring systems, and institutional records related to the operation of own-source revenue mechanisms by the Institutional Support Foundation (FAI). The results show that increased collection of own-source revenues does not automatically translate into greater spending capacity, as it remains subject to institutional mechanisms related to budget incorporation, coordination among administrative units, and constraints arising from the fiscal environment. The analysis demonstrates that revenue collection, budget authorization, and execution operate according to different temporalities, generating mismatches that increase the need for institutional coordination and adaptation. From the perspective of TCT, these elements were interpreted as transaction costs associated with the management of own-source revenues in Federal Institutions of Higher Education (IFES), related to uncertainty, procedural requirements and stages, and the continuous need for coordination among different administrative levels. As an applied outcome of the research, a budget planning, monitoring, and replanning instrument developed within UFSCar’s Office of Administration and Budget Coordination was analyzed and understood as an organizational mechanism aimed at strengthening institutional coordination and supporting budget execution monitoring. It is concluded that the main obstacles to the use of own-source revenues do not arise from insufficient revenue availability, but from the institutional conditions that mediate their incorporation and execution within the federal public budgeting system.

This work is a dissertation (Master in Linguistics degree) that deals with certain aspects of medical discourse regarding chronic pain, addressing topics that range from Popular Linguistics (Gonçalves, 2021; Baronas, 2021; 2022), whether in the conceptualization of Pain within the field of Health Sciences or in the use of what is referred to here as “doctor-speak” (“mediquês”). We explore some meanings of the word “pain” from the therapists’ point of view, using Eduardo Guimarães’s Event Semantics theory (2002). We examine aspects of medical ethos, particularly concerning placebo and nocebo effects, as proposed by Dominique Maingueneau (2020; 2022). This analysis of ethos also extends to the realm of medical discourse in digital environments. We discuss the ambiguity of the diminutive—so present in discursive practices in the health field—in relation to supposed humanization and the maintenance of power asymmetry between speakers from a Foucauldian perspective (Foucault, 2008; 2019; 2021). We conclude that Linguistics, as a science, can contribute to improving communication between parties within the therapeutic alliance, despite the evident discursive fractures derived from diverse methodologies and epistemes.

Emissions offsetting in carbon markets has become a central strategy in how large corporations construct their image of sustainability, and the phrase “carbon credits”, recurrent in their reports, shows signs of functioning as a discursive formula in the sense proposed by Krieg-Planque. We investigate how this phrase operates in corporate discourse on sustainability across its four constitutive dimensions, articulating the notion of formula with Maingueneau's scenes of enunciation and discursive ethos and also drawing on Orlandi's work on silencing and Paveau's on discursive virtue. The material brings together the 44 Sustainability Reports and Integrated Reports for the 2023 fiscal year, from Brazilian companies listed simultaneously on the ISE B3 and ICO2 indexes, together with media and social-movement materials; the reports follow the GRI standard, which regulates the generic scene and delimits the sayable about corporate sustainability. The analysis shows a morphosyntactically stable signifier, anchored in an economic-financial memory that, within the neoliberal discursive formation, captures “sustainability” and forecloses the meanings associated with climate justice, reparation, and degrowth; shifting from a technical-legal term in the Kyoto Protocol (1997) to an operator of corporate virtue in the ESG era, the phrase attains sectoral hegemony without becoming universal and has its controversy managed within the reports, through certifications and hierarchizations, while it erupts in the media sphere, where it is contested as “accounting fiction” and “carbon colonialism”. Within corporate discourse, the phrase reconfigures the climate crisis as a technical-managerial issue and naturalizes the continuation of the very pollution it claims to combat. It is the persistence of the form beneath the variation of scenes, from the report to media contestation, that sustains the central thesis of this work, namely that crystallization is a necessary though not sufficient condition, and that what converts “carbon credits” into a full formula is its potential for transit across heterogeneous scenes, by which the same signifier is reinscribed in antagonistic discourses without dissolving.

This study critically evaluates the Municipal Plan for Agroecology and Sustainable Rural Development of Sao Paulo (PMADRS), the main municipal public planning instrument aimed at strengthening agroecology and sustainable rural development until 2031, within a metropolitan context marked by the presence of rural, urban and peri-urban agricultures. The research seeks to understand the different conceptions of development (productivist, adaptive, and ecosocial) embedded in the Plan. To achieve this, a qualitative approach was adopted, combining a critical literature review on agroecology, sustainable rural development, and alternative agricultures with documentary research and categorical content analysis. The qualitative evaluation was structured around the economic, environmental, social, and agroecological dimensions, allowing the identification of how distinct development rationalities are distributed and articulated within the thematic axes of the PMADRS. The results demonstrate that the Plan presents a hybrid configuration, marked by the coexistence of productivist, adaptive, and ecosocial conceptions of development. Although it incorporates principles related to environmental sustainability, social participation, the valorization of local knowledge, and the strengthening of family farming, there is a predominance of the economic dimension, oriented toward market integration, productive formalization, and the economic viability of activities. In this context, agroecology appears simultaneously as a proposal for transformation and as a functional instrument for environmental compliance and impact mitigation. The study also highlights limitations related to governance, intersectoral coordination, public financing, and institutional capacity, indicating that the consolidation of agroecology as a structuring strategy for sustainable development still depends on strengthening the State’s technical, administrative, and political capacities. It is concluded that the PMADRS represents an important step forward in the institutionalization of agroecology within the metropolitan context, although it remains conditioned by adaptive rationalities and by the centrality of economic logic in public policy planning.

This study investigated the institutionalization process of hybrid education in Brazilian public higher education, anchored in the epistemological framework of Inhabited Institutionalism to examine the intersection of teaching praxis and digital culture. The overall objective of this research is to understand the mutual influences between daily professional practice and the consolidation of hybrid arrangements. It analyzes the multiple impacts experienced by educators and the strategies through which these professionals re-signify and shape contemporary academic reality through their everyday interactions. To substantiate this reflection, the study sought to systematize the conceptual boundaries of hybridization, examine the training models provided by university administrations, and evaluate how organizational guidelines affect faculty identity and working conditions. Methodologically, the study adopted a fundamentally qualitative, basic, and exploratory approach, supported by multiple sources of evidence and data triangulation. The preliminary phase consisted of a rigorous systematic literature review focusing on scientific output from the last decade, alongside a thorough examination of institutional development plans from federal universities and institutes. The fieldwork expanded the empirical scope by recruiting 280 professors from all geographic regions of Brazil. Primary data were collected through comprehensive questionnaires, 17 unstructured interviews, and the facilitation of five focus group sessions. All documentary and narrative data were processed using content analysis, with a focus on extracting core meanings. The main results reveal that the integration of remote elements into in-person courses occurs in a predominantly top-down manner. This creates ceremonial facades that satisfy state requirements but fail to support the technical core of education. A severe deficiency was observed in faculty preparation, which is largely limited to instrumental training on how to use digital platforms, ignoring the vital need for digital literacy focused on didactic transposition. As an immediate consequence, educators experience a silent process of job precarization, bearing a significant increase in their out-of-class workload and a lack of specialized support. Simultaneously, faculty interventions revealed that students, despite living in an era of hyperconnectivity, lack the digital proficiency required for learning and show strong resistance to the active role demanded by active learning methodologies. Faced with this mismatch between bureaucratic norms and infrastructural shortcomings, professors frequently resort to self-directed learning and join informal networks of mutual support. Finally, the study concludes that hybrid education cannot be established merely through decrees or the simple acquisition of technology. The research asserts that the successful implementation of methodological proposals relies on the tactical and constructive insubordination of the faculty. By actively inhabiting the normative imperative, educators operate as an instituting force capable of challenging regulations, circumventing resource shortages, and reinventing the teaching profession—thereby ensuring the survival and evolution of the public university.

This research analyzed the influence of the Emergency Remote Teaching (ERT) experience on the process of institutionalizing Distance Education (DE) in Brazilian public universities. The study aimed to understand how the transformations triggered during the Covid-19 pandemic impacted the pedagogical, technological, organizational, and cultural dimensions of DE, contributing to its institutional consolidation. To this end, a qualitative approach was adopted, developed through the triangulation of a systematic literature review, document analysis, questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews with faculty members and professionals affiliated with the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) and the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA), who were involved in undergraduate education during the Covid-19 pandemic. The systematic review showed that post-pandemic research on DE has focused on topics related to teacher training, digital technologies, democratization of access, infrastructure, and the impacts of the pandemic. The empirical results indicated that ERT promoted the expansion of digital technology use, strengthened virtual learning environments, and encouraged the incorporation of new pedagogical practices into academic routines. Administrative and regulatory changes were also identified, which supported the adoption of technological resources and expanded institutional discussions about this modality. On the other hand, the data revealed persistent challenges related to faculty workload, inequalities in access to technology, insufficient specific training for working in digital environments, and the persistence of cultural resistance to DE. Participants’ perceptions showed that, although some practices developed during the emergency period were incorporated into institutional routines, the consolidation of this modality still faces structural and organizational limitations. It is concluded that ERT accelerated certain pedagogical, technological, and administrative changes in the universities studied. However, these transformations were not sufficient to ensure its institutionalization. The consolidation of this modality depends on the continuity of institutional policies, the ongoing professional development of those involved, the strengthening of infrastructure conditions, and the legitimation of DE as an integral part of the academic mission of public universities.

This research argues for writing with the body as a possible didactic experience and discursive practice in Physical Education classes which can emerge from the coexistence of gestural and graphic language. In this sense, it aims to problematize student graphic writing in Physical Education as a possibility for differentiation, drawing on the Foucauldian notion of writing as a discursive practice capable of promoting transformation and acting as a factor of differentiation within movements of resistance. Methodologically, the study combines a literature review with an intervention research conducted over two academic years in a public elementary school in the countryside of São Paulo state, Brazil, involving 4th- and 5th-grade students. The writing experiments, carried out using different language materials, took place during the thematic exploration of different bodily practices. The findings indicate that students writings emerged as discontinuous statements, marked by variations, ruptures, and fragmentations, made possible by the conditions created in the classes. They also revealed possibilities for a form of writing that shifted its meanings from a dominant school configuration centered on rationality to a practice composed with the body, detached from school norms and open to sensibility and creation. And showed that Physical Education, guided by the Cultural Curriculum, presents itself as an interesting space both for problematizing dominant school writing and for producing writing with the body. Finally, the study argues that writing with the body can bring gestural and graphic language together within the same space, embedded in the social relations that operate within processes of governmentality present in classes, thus opening up possibilities for practices of freedom.

The Research, Teaching, Extension, and Culture Group on Human Activities and Occupational Therapy (AHTO) at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) has a 12-year journey of working with the homeless population in the city of São Carlos, São Paulo. Using cartography as a methodology, this study aims to present a cartographic representation of the lines of force of care present in seven research-territory projects closely connected to AHTO, based on an analysis conducted through a cartographic framework—a discussion group—to construct the material. The study concludes with a mapping of gestures, processes, or perspectives on care, resulting in the development of ten lines of force (Management; Training; Objectives; City; Affectivity; Desires; Invitations; Participation; Corporeality; and Repercussions). By reflecting on the relational care between AHTO and the homeless population, it is possible to transcend these connections and consider care as a way in which Occupational Therapy is embodied to develop actions and experiences.

The literary text can lead us into different experiences and worlds. When translated into the classroom - a democratic and plural place - it allows students to appropriate diverse socio-historical contexts through multiculturalism and different languages that can be worked from each work. Thus, the general objective of this research is to present the Amazon literature for children in the age group of 2 to 4 years, aiming at the learning of different languages and sociocultural and environmental aspects through a pedagogical organization of the concept of didactic sequence. The specific objectives consist of verifying the contributions of Amazonian narratives to the development of different languages for children, in addition to cultural experiences; analyzing the perceptions of children in each narrative from a linguistic, sociocultural, and environmental perspective (fauna and flora) and present the role of the didactic sequence as a catalyst and organizer of learning. Methodologically, it is research with a qualitative approach, characterized as action research. One of the axes that characterize action research is the concern with social aspects and the need to change a reality by knowing the subjects of research and acting collectively to solve one or more problems, having as guiding principle the insertion in a classroom. The research data were collected at the Application College of the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) located in the interior of the State of São Paulo, for a period of class monitoring and interventions over one year and six months. Among the results are contact with different literary productions from diverse contexts that made it possible to understand language as a socially, historically, and culturally situated practice. The children read and produced knowledge from northern Brazil, within a plural and dialogical perspective. Therefore, the importance of this work for the field of Linguistics, more specifically, for the area of language teaching and learning processes, is due to the need to offer a multiple education, in which children have the opportunity from the first stage of education to different cultures through literary reading practices and different textual genres
