Resumo

Due to the growing environmental concern about greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, this work aims to identify whether the important sectors for the Brazilian economy are intensive or have strong links with polluting sectors. In addition, it seeks to assess the sectors that most contribute to the spread of pollutants inside and outside the state of São Paulo. For this, interactions between the regions of the state of São Paulo and the rest of Brazil were analyzed, in 28 sectors. The methodology of this work used the inter-regional input-output model that allows the analysis of the Miyazawa multipliers. The survey results made it possible to highlight the Land Transport and Other Transport sectors, due to their high emission intensity coefficients. Considering the Miyazawa multipliers, the state of São Paulo demonstrates a significant demand from the Energy sector in the rest of Brazil and this presents itself as an intensive activity in the internal propagation of pollutants. The sectors Metallurgy, Land Transport, Mining and Pelletizing and Mining and Pelletizing, a large share of purchases in the state of São Paulo, are intensive in the internal propagation of pollutants. The Chemical sector has a relatively high participation in the internal spread related to demand from the rest of Brazil. Therefore, whether through direct, indirect or induced emission, it was possible to identify that somo of the important sectors for the economic activity of the State of São Paulo, in particular, proved to be intensive or dependent on sectors that have significant contributions to emissions.
