Resumo
The anti-asylum movement is a social and political movement that aims to transform the
mental health care model, overcoming the asylum logic, which involves the isolation and
exclusion of individuals with mental disorders in psychiatric hospitals. In this perspective,
studying the impact of the anti-asylum movement on new public mental health policies
presents a relevant topic to foster a debate aimed at promoting equality, well-being, and social
inclusion of individuals with mental disorders. The methodology adopted involved
conducting a literature review. It is concluded that the Anti-Asylum Movement in Brazil
represents a highly relevant social and political movement in the pursuit of guaranteeing
human rights and the dignity of individuals with mental disorders. Regarding public mental
health policies, it is necessary to strengthen them, invest in the training of qualified
professionals, and promote awareness and sensitization of the population regarding issues
related to mental disorders.
