Resumo

In the present work, a study was carried out on the property changes that the addition of vanadium in the P2O5-CaO-V2O5 system can cause. A non-linear change of a glass property due to the mixing of different glass formers in the system calciumphosphate and calcium-vanadate is expected. There are very few reports on the mixed glass former effect in terms of mechanical and thermal properties for this system. To fill this gap, elastic constants, and micro-hardness, were studied in glasses of the constant molar fraction of calcium but of different V2O5-to-P2O5 ratios. In addition, measurements were flanked by Raman Spectroscopy and X-ray photo-electron spectroscopy to assign points of inflection of these properties in dependence on the V2O5-to-P2O5 ratio to their structural origin and chemical state. There is a non-linear change in the properties of vanadium increasing in the system. The system remains vitreous up to 40 mol% V2O5.
