Resumo
In this work, we consider the formation and vibrational stabilization of cold hetero-
nuclear molecules using infrared nanosecond pulses. Starting with a pair of coliding cold
atoms of dissimilar species, we aim to form a molecule in its eletronic and vibrational
ground level by means of the interaction with the laser field. In order to meet this goal,
we propose the employment of a single pulse with a time-dependent frequency that, fol-
lowing the interatomic potential anarmonicity, promotes the formation and stabilization
of a molecule following a predefined transition pathway. We show that the proposed
scheme can efficiently form cold molecules in the vibrational ground level. Calculations
have been performed for a model representing a colision between a lithium atom and a
cesium atom in the milikelvin temperature range.
