Associação de fatores do tronco e membro inferior com lesão no ombro e desempenho esportivo em atletas overhead: uma revisão sistemática incluindo recomendações GRADE
Abstract
Objective: To identify the association of trunk and lower limb factors with shoulder injury and sport performance in overhead athletes.
Design: Systematic review.
Data sources: PubMed/Medline, Embase, CINAHL, LILACS, Cochrane, Web of Science and SPORTDiscus.
Eligibility criteria for selecting studies: Cohort studies, case-control studies and cross-sectional studies were included if they were conducted with overhead athletes of both sexes and all training levels, and investigated aspects related to trunk and lower limb stability and performance. Outcomes of interest were shoulder injury and sport performance. Two reviewers screened the studies, extracted the data and assessed the methodological quality of all included studies. Certainty of the evidence was assessed using the GRADE methodology.
Results: Fifty-eight observational studies were included. Very-low evidence suggests 1) no association of trunk stability or lower limb performance with shoulder injury, 2) no association of trunk stability with sport performance, and 3) a positive association of trunk and lower limb performances with sport performance in overhead athletes. There was no evidence for the association of trunk performance or lower limb stability with shoulder injury, nor for lower limb stability with sport performance measures in overhead athletes.
Conclusion: These results indicated very-low evidence that trunk and lower limb performance were associated with sport performance in overhead athletes. Future studies with higher methodological quality and standardized assessment measures are necessary.
