Análise de falha em materiais metálicos: uma abordagem complexa utilizando PLS-SEM

Metallic materials may fail due to several reasons and at different ways. In general, it is common to be verified overload (ductile or fragile) or fatigue. These failures always let evidences that can explain their natures when investigated. This work utilizes case studies on failure analysis of steel parts to feed a structural model and, by the statistical method of Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), describes failures in a general and wide approach. As a result, a model was developed but its evaluation parametes, both regarding model and method, did not reach the specified values of the literature to provide statistical relevance. Although this result has not been completely satisfactory, it has to be highlighted that no work relating PLS-SEM and failure analysis was found in the literature. That way, some improvement opportunities were observed and may be implemented in future works aiming to guarantee the referred relevance.
