Energy efficiency has become a relevant factor in studies and analysis of actions aimed at saving electricity in buildings. Given this scenario, the purpose of this work is to carry out a case study in the core of engineering laboratories at the Federal University of São Carlos. For this, the constructive characteristics of elements of the façade, electrical loads and the profile of the users were analyzed, through the simulation of a representative model of the building, and suggested actions aiming to reduce the consumption of energy. As a result, it was observed that a simple change of colors on the facades of the walls and on the roof managed to reduce the energy required for cooling and heating the building by 23.3%. On the other hand, the addition of internal plaster coating and air chamber on the east and west side walls brought a reduction of only 0.49%, being the measure with the lowest impact observed. Therefore, the study shows that it is possible to obtain reductions in energy consumption through energy efficiency actions, and that simple measures can already bring positive results.
