Abstract
This work is an experience report lived in the graduation in Medicine at the Federal University of São Carlos based on the perspective of metacognition as the basis of learning, related to the curricular guidelines of the mentioned course that uses active teaching methodologies. This experience is reported from the point of view of a student at the end of her training, who during the process showed interest in medical education topics and sought to understand the learning process. The core of the text includes the three metacognitive pillars - person, task and strategy - and narrates their development according to undergraduate learning cycles and units
