Resumo
This Undergraduate Thesis (TCC), linked to the Bachelor's Degree in Translation and Interpretation in Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) and Portuguese (TILSP), aimed to describe the narrative-translational strategies in Libras employed in the construction of a signed narrative based on the biblical text Daniel and the Miracle in the Lions’ Den, directed at deaf children inserted in Protestant religious contexts. The research is justified by the scarcity of materials aimed at Christian religious education for deaf children and, more broadly, by the lack of Libras productions with refined verbal and non-verbal discourse appropriate for young audiences. With a theoretical-practical approach, the study involved a bibliographical review of the discursive production of audiovisual materials in Libras for deaf children, with an emphasis on narrative translation and language use in religious settings. Based on the mapping of existing materials and research, five thematic axes were defined — Translational, Visual and Imagetic, Expressive and Bodily, Sociolinguistic, and Pedagogical-Cultural — which guided the elaboration of the signed version of the biblical narrative, respecting the linguistic, cultural, and visual specificities of the target audience, taking into account aspects of deaf childhood. The qualitative and descriptive-interpretative analysis considered visual, expressive, and bodily elements that enhance reception by deaf children undergoing sociolinguistic development, including those with delayed language acquisition. The theoretical framework is grounded in Deaf Studies, especially the concepts of multimodal literacy, deferred textuality, and imagetic production. The results highlight the relevance of using translational strategies that integrate playful, expressive, and imagetic visual resources, thus expanding deaf children’s access to religious content and enriching the narrative experience in Libras. This research provides theoretical and practical contributions for the training of Libras translators and interpreters who work with children in religious contexts, contributing to the strengthening of culturally sensitive productions that better meet the specific demands of this group. The material produced was published by the #CasaLibras program and is expected to inspire new creations and investigations in this still underexplored field.
