Resumo

This study conducted a literature review of articles published in the ABEM Journal between 2012 and 2016 in order to examine how practical experiences and teaching experiences of undergraduate Music Education students are addressed during their initial teacher education. The study includes a brief literature review on initial teacher education and music teacher education, presenting some of the legal requirements established for teacher education programs that promote practical experiences throughout the training process. The findings indicate that, although only a limited number of studies were identified within the selected time frame, all of them emphasize the importance of providing opportunities for undergraduate music education students to connect theory and practice. Therefore, the reviewed studies highlight the need for teacher education programs in music to create spaces that foster the integration of theoretical knowledge and practical teaching experience.
