Entre brilhos e desafios: um estudo sobre o trabalho domiciliar de mulheres na produção de joias folheadas em Limeira

Abstract

This study analyzes the productive dynamics of the costume jewelry market in Limeira, São Paulo, focusing on the trajectory of women who work from home producing goods, sustaining themselves through informality, subcontracting, and precariousness. The research addresses the historical aspects that consolidated Limeira as the National Capital of Gold-Plated Jewelry and explores how contemporary capitalism and the flexibilization of labor relations contributed to deregulation and the intensification of inequalities. Through interviews, the workers' perceptions of their occupations and the impacts that the combination of care and production can generate by overloading their workdays were highlighted. The discussion uses a concise bibliography to integrate gender, work, and care. It concludes that the productive logic studied, although contributing to the sector's competitiveness, perpetuates the invisibility and exploitation of female workers.
