listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Preferência sensorial entre cafés especiais obtidos por secagem natural e cereja descascado(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-02-13) Possamai, Murilo Mometti; Verruma-Bernardi, Marta Regina; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3470912236544684; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1375-0938; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9568016016484309The objective of the study was to evaluate the sensory preference of specialty coffees produced by two drying methods: natural drying and peeled cherry. 6 coffees were used, 3 of each method, from southern Paraná, classified as special, light medium roast. The sensory analysis was carried out with 60 consumers, who evaluated attributes such as color, aroma, acidity, flavor and body, using a 9-point hedonic scale. The results showed that, although the majority of evaluators consumed traditional coffees, specialty coffees received high marks, with small variations between methods. Peeled cherry coffee stood out for its preference in color and acidity, while naturally dried coffee had better preference in aroma. The overall acceptance of the coffees was similar, with scores ranging from 6.8 to 7.1. The lack of knowledge and custom with specialty coffees may have influenced the results, indicating the need for greater publicity about these products.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Entre brilhos e desafios: um estudo sobre o trabalho domiciliar de mulheres na produção de joias folheadas em Limeira(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-02-13) Augusto, Beatriz Meneghim; Rangel, Felipe; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1619003785230081; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4276168535252253This study analyzes the productive dynamics of the costume jewelry market in Limeira, São Paulo, focusing on the trajectory of women who work from home producing goods, sustaining themselves through informality, subcontracting, and precariousness. The research addresses the historical aspects that consolidated Limeira as the National Capital of Gold-Plated Jewelry and explores how contemporary capitalism and the flexibilization of labor relations contributed to deregulation and the intensification of inequalities. Through interviews, the workers' perceptions of their occupations and the impacts that the combination of care and production can generate by overloading their workdays were highlighted. The discussion uses a concise bibliography to integrate gender, work, and care. It concludes that the productive logic studied, although contributing to the sector's competitiveness, perpetuates the invisibility and exploitation of female workers.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Uma análise das políticas públicas pública relativas às pessoas com deficiência: um estudo de caso no IFSP/São Carlos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-02-13) Basilio, João Paulo Dantas; Pedro, Wilson José Alves; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8135701448186851; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8152663147680320The present study aims to conduct a case study analysis of public policies related topeople with disabilities in a Federal Institute of Education (IFSP) located in the interior of the State of São Paulo. In this context, the effectiveness of biomaterials, such as bioactive glasses, in combating these infections has been widely studied. This study investigates the topography and nanomechanical properties of S. aureus biofilms grown for 24 hours on glass surfaces doped with different concentrations of zinc oxide (ZnO) (5, 7.5, and 10% (w/w)), using atomic force microscopy (AFM). The results showed that the presence of ZnO significantly impacts the structure and formation of biofilms. On surfaces with 5% ZnO, the biofilm topography revealed an increase in roughness, indicating a defensive response from the bacteria by producing a more robust extracellular matrix. However, higher ZnO concentrations (7.5 and 10% (w/w)) led to biofilm formation inhibition, with a notable reduction in biofilm height and density, resulting in smoother and less colonized surfaces. The nanomechanical properties of the biofilms showed a decrease in the elastic modulus with increasing ZnO concentration, while adhesion force increased. These findings suggest that ZnO can be effective in inhibiting biofilm formation and enhancing the antimicrobial properties of glass surfaces. However, the study revealed limitations, such as variability in biofilm area at high ZnO concentrations, which may affect the robustness of the results. To further understand biofilm-surface interactions and explore potential new technological applications, future research should investigate other ZnO concentrations and different types of surfaces.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, A perspectiva de líderes do setor portuário de Santos (SP) sobre a importância da marca empregadora(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-02-13) Janikian, Lara; Nascimento, Letícia Cunha; Ubeda, Cristina Lourenço; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6696784421924024; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6460-9462The attraction and retention of qualified talent are constant challenges in the job market, requiring proper talent management. In other words, what do presidents say in their speeches and what do they do in terms of laws? The time frame covers the first two terms of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (2003-2010) and the two terms of Dilma Vana Rousseff (2011-2016), two presidents belonging to the same political party who were consecutively re-elected, consolidating the longest period that the same party has been at the head of the Presidency of the Republic since re-democratization; and who governed at a time when the country's quality of democracy reached peak levels, according to the Varieties of Democracy platform. The data analysis was based on discursive and normative documents, including government programs, inaugural speeches in the National Congress and at the parlor and annual messages sent to Congress to investigate the rhetorical agenda; and regulatory decrees, provisional measures, ordinary bills and proposals to amend the Constitution to investigate the decision-making agenda. The results indicate the prevalence of thematic continuities between the Lula and Dilma governments in their rhetorical and decision-making agendas, with some occasional changes. However, differences were observed in the way each used the discursive moments and legislative powers at their disposal, which influences the levels of congruence between the agendas and may express differences between the presidential profiles.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Análise das práticas e potencialidades agroecológicas na região de Parelheiros - SP: processamento de sorbet de cambuci (Campomanesia phaea)(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-02-13) Siqueira, Ana Beatriz França; Santos, Leandro de Lima; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2750978055015275; Neves, Isabelle Cristina Oliveira; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3479449098249392Parelheiros, a region located in the extreme south of São Paulo, is characterized as a “coastal forest” of São Paulo. It is located in an area of protection of water sources, has important remnants of the Atlantic Forest, including cambuci (Campomanesia phaea), and covers a large area of family farming. This study included the characterization of experiences and possibilities of agroecological processing in the region of Parelheiros - SP, mainly related to cambuci, the evaluation of food security assurance based on the axes of Health, Authenticity, Solidarity, Environment and Hygiene, and the development of cambuci sorbet formulations that meet agroecological prerogatives as a possibility of processing to be replicated by family farmers. The methodology was divided into two moments, the first of which involved field research structured by exploratory interviews with 17 farming families from Parelheiros - SP. In the second stage, three cambuci sorbet formulations were developed using chia mucilage and/or xanthan gum as stabilizers, evaluating their physical and chemical parameters. As main results, it is understood that cambuci is produced mainly in 5 families and has been used in some food preparations such as jam, sauces, juices, popsicles and ice cream. It is also understood that cambuci sorbet is an edible ice cream that presented desirable physical and chemical characteristics and that it can be easily replicated following the agroecological characteristics because it has a clean label formulation, contains only natural additives, has few processing steps (reducing water and energy costs) and can be packaged in biodegradable packaging. It was also inferred that the agroindustrialization of native raw materials from the Atlantic Forest in Parelheiros is linked to the strengthening of family farming, ecological tourism and the permanence of man in the countryside, producing healthy food and ensuring food security.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Rendimento de óleo essencial de lima ácida tahiti cultivada sob diferentes manejos de solo(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-02-13) Ique, Gustavo Afonso Ladeira; Souza, Ana Júlia Borim de; Conceição, Patrícia Marluci da; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6623193710607120Citriculture plays an important role in Brazil's agricultural economy. Besides fresh consumption and juice industrialization, citrus fruits yield essential oils (EOs), valued by the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. This study aimed to quantify the EO extracted from the peel of Tahiti acid lime fruits harvested from plants under different scion and rootstock combinations, cultivated under distinct soil management practices. The experiment was conducted at the Centro de Citricultura “Sylvio Moreira” (CCSM) of the Instituto Agronômico (IAC). Urochloa ruziziensis was sown between orchard rows, followed by the planting of Tahiti acid lime seedlings. The trial was arranged in a randomized block design with split plots and four replications. Two soil management systems were evaluated: conventional (no mulch in the citrus row) and ecological (mulch in the citrus row). Three scions were tested: Tahiti acid lime IAC 5, Tahiti acid lime IAC 10, and Tahiti acid lime BRS IAC EECB Ponta-Firme, grafted onto two rootstocks: citrandarin IAC 3152 "Itajobi" and trifoliate orange IAC 718 Flying Dragon. Evaluations included leaf water potential, fruit yield, peel percentage, oil yield per fruit peel mass, oil yield per ton of fruit, and oil yield per area. Results showed that ecological management led to higher leaf water potential and fruit productivity, indicating benefits in water retention and soil structuring. However, conventional management resulted in higher EO yield per ton of fruit, likely due to water stress, which may stimulate the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites. Among the evaluated scion × rootstock combinations, plants grafted onto citrandarin IAC 3152 "Itajobi" exhibited greater drought tolerance and better productive performance under ecological management. It is concluded that conventional management increases oil yield per fruit peel mass and oil yield per ton of fruit. However, the greater fruit availability for oil extraction in ecological management (higher productivity) results in a higher EO yield per area.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Dor crônica e suporte social: uma revisão narrativa(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-02-13) Blanco, Loren Caroline Bettoni Blanco; Carrer, Helen Cristina Nogueira; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9985037319198420; Vasilceac, Fernando Augusto; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1220838672192063; Branco; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2285773741299516; https://orcid.org/0009-0007-6381-6946BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Chronic pain is a health condition that can significantly affect individuals' quality of life, and is often associated with higher levels of emotional stress, low social support, and weakened family ties. In addition to physical suffering, the psychosocial consequences of chronic pain can aggravate the clinical picture, making it difficult to manage the condition. Considering these factors, the objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between social support and chronic pain in patients with musculoskeletal pain. METHODS: A narrative review of the literature was performed in the LILACS and PubMed databases, using the descriptors: “social support” AND “chronic pain” and (social support[MeSH Terms]) AND (chronic pain[MeSH Terms]), respectively. The search was conducted without data restrictions until June 2024, allowing the inclusion of studies published in any period within this time window. Data extraction was performed independently by two reviewers. RESULTS: A total of 318 articles were initially identified. Of these, 67 studies were selected for detailed evaluation. After careful analysis, 23 publications were included in this review, based on the previously established inclusion and exclusion criteria. CONCLUSION: The association between social support and chronic pain remains a controversial topic in the literature. However, the vast majority of studies suggest a positive relationship between social support and the reduction of symptoms of anxiety, depression, catastrophic thoughts, functional disability, as well as improvements in psychological well-being and self-efficacy. These findings indicate that, when adequate, social support can reduce both the perception of pain and the interference of pain in patients' lives, contributing to better adaptation and quality of life.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Estudantes internacionais em situação de refúgio: um estudo de caso a partir da Cátedra Sérgio Vieira de Mello na UFSCar(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-02-13) Jank, Ana Maria; Carvalho, Joelson Gonçalves de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0141039743607067; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4894-1400; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8892787584284130; https://orcid.org/0009-0008-8037-9490The Sérgio Vieira de Mello Chatedra (CSVM) is a partnership between the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and Brazilian universities, which has been working since 2003 to facilitate access to higher education for people in situations of refuge in Brazil. Its central purpose is to promote teaching, research and university extension on issues related to refuge and human rights, contributing to the academic and social integration of this group and raising awareness among the academic community and society about migration and fundamental rights. In this context, the main objective of this research is to analyze the policies for differentiated admission and permanence of refugee students in undergraduate courses at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). The UFSCar, a pioneering public university in joining the CSVM, held its first selection process specifically for refugee candidates in 2009, even before the Quota Law. The study deals with forced migrations, exploring the historical and normative context surrounding these displacements, the applicable legislation, the support bodies available and the importance of affirmative action as a public policy to guarantee the access and permanence of refugee students in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The research includes a historical and documentary analysis of the Chair at UFSCar, complemented by questionnaires and interviews detailing the evolution of affirmative action, the nationalities involved, the courses attended, and the results obtained by these students. In addition to identifying the main challenges faced, the study seeks to contribute to strengthening UFSCar's academic recognition as a pioneer in implementing this inclusive policy, providing support for senior management to develop initiatives that promote greater integration between these students and the University, ensuring the necessary support for them to enter, remain and successfully complete their studies at UFSCar.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Estudo de associa̧ção genômica ampla para obesidade por meio de florestas aleatórias(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-02-13) Luzia, Milena Crnkovic; Cerqueira, Andressa; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1934493281651316; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5189523036986120Obesity is the result of an energy imbalance and has been growing significantly. However, not all individuals respond in the same way to the same environment, which may be due to genetic factors. According to (29), heritability can contribute around 40% to the variation of a disease. Therefore, notions of genetics are extremely important for a better understanding of chronic diseases such as obesity. Most cases of obesity are caused by the combination of several genetic variants of small effect, leading to various methodological and computational challenges. The statistical methods for Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) commonly used for analyses are univariate, considering only one genetic marker (SNP) at a time. Consequently, such methods do not capture relationships between SNPs. The random forest method has been widely applied to biological data, as it supports high-dimensional data and can capture non-linear models based on genotypes. Therefore, the present study aims to identify genetic variants associated with obesity in a multifactorial manner using random forests. Using the importance measure of random forests and selecting the 99th percentile of its distribution, the results identified several SNPs associated with obesity and waist circumference, reinforcing the genetic complexity of these traits. One of the markers found was SNP rs478582, present in both analyses, suggesting a strong influence on the regulation of adiposity and body fat distribution. Many of the genes identified in the study are involved in metabolic and inflammatory processes, highlighting the importance of genetic factors in the predisposition to obesity. This reinforces the need for additional studies to deepen the understanding of the biological mechanisms related to obesity.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, O papel da desaprendizagem em fusões de empresas: uma revisão sistemática de literatura(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-02-13) Roberto, Terena Moraes; Ubeda, Cristina Lourenço; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6696784421924024; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6460-9462When organizations are in the process of merging, there is a background of instability and a business context that will undergo several changes in its processes, organizational culture and knowledge about how to carry out each stage of production of its products or services, and with this comes the process of abandoning old practices that no longer fit in the new company that is being created, a process known as unlearning. This paper aims to conduct a systematic literature review (SLR) of what has already been published on unlearning - individual or organizational - in merger scenarios between companies. As a result of the RSL carried out on the Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics), Spell and Scielo databases, it was possible to observe the aspects resultant from the unlearning process in merger environments, mainly from an internal perspective, focusing on how employees experienced it.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Detecção eletroquímica de emissões ambientais em águas residuárias: análise bibliográfica(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-02-13) Mion, Ester Alves; Moraes, Fernando Cruz de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8597473049054728Environmental contamination by antibiotics is a growing concern, with negative impacts on ecosystems and public health, particularly due to the spread of antimicrobial resistance. These compounds, classified as emerging pollutants, are frequently detected in water bodies and soils, resulting from the excretion of unmetabolized residues, the release of hospital and agro-industrial effluents, and the improper disposal of pharmaceuticals. Given the need for monitoring these contaminants, electrochemical sensors have emerged as an efficient analytical alternative, offering sensitivity, selectivity, and speed in the detection of different compounds. In this review, different electrochemical sensors applied to the detection of amoxicillin, levofloxacin, cephalosporins and tetracyclines were evaluated, comparing performance, cost and applicability in different environmental matrices. The results demonstrate that sensors based on nanomaterials, molecularly imprinted polymers, and metal oxides exhibit high efficiency in identifying these compounds, making them a viable and sustainable option for environmental monitoring. Advancements in the development of electrochemical sensors represent a significant step toward more efficient antibiotic monitoring, reducing costs and environmental impacts. Furthermore, the implementation of stringent public policies regarding the use and disposal of antibiotics is essential to minimize pollution and curb the spread of antimicrobial resistance. The combination of different analytical approaches and the continuous development of new detection technologies are crucial to addressing the challenges posed by antibiotics as emerging pollutants.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Prevalência e caracterização da dor em mulheres brasileiras(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-02-13) Souza, Marina Almeida de; Driusso, Patricia; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8898319491890063; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8067-9786; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3706513261355249; https://orcid.org/0009-0007-7962-8771Pain is the main symptom that leads a person to seek medical care. It can be classified according to its mechanism of action and duration. Women are more likely to feel pain, as they suffer more from sensitivity and have more chronic pain than men. This may occur due to physiological mechanisms, biological and sociocultural factors. Objective: To analyze the factors associated with the interference of pain in the lives of Brazilian women. Methods: Cross-sectional study, conducted online, through Google Forms in which Brazilian women, over 18 years of age from all regions of Brazil were invited to answer a structured questionnaire that included questions about sociodemographic characteristics, presence of pain, and gynecological history. Women completed the Numerical Pain Scale (NPS) to assess the intensity of the pain they felt. The Brief Pain Inventory (BPI) was used to assess pain intensity and interference, in addition to having a body diagram in which women indicated the places where they felt pain. Furthermore, these women were asked about which health professionals they sought care for their pain, how many times they sought this medical care and whether the women considered that the professionals understood their complaints. Data analysis: The data were analyzed using the statistical software SPSS, version 0.20.01. Multiple linear regression analysis was applied using the enter method, considering a 95% confidence interval. The results were presented as mean, standard deviation (SD) and frequencies (%). For all analyses, a significance level of p > 0.05 was adopted. The study correlations were assessed by Pearson's correlation test and chi-square test. Results: 964 Brazilian women participated in this study and reported a mean pain intensity of 4 on the END scale. The most prevalent sites of pain were the head region anteriorly (64.2%), followed by the neck posteriorly (34.3%), right knee anteriorly (22.4%), lumbosacral region (20.4%) and head posteriorly (15.1%). Through multiple linear regression, the adjusted R2 was 0.318. It was possible to infer that there was a strong correlation between the score given by the interference by the BDI and the average pain. In addition, it was found that monthly family income, number of pregnancies, frequency of stress and average pain are directly related to the interference of pain in the lives of Brazilian women. In binary logistic regression, the average pain is related to pain interference, presenting an odds ratio of 1.696, and the frequency of stress presented an odds ratio of 6.426 (p=0.001). Conclusion: Given the findings, it is verified that sociodemographic factors directly influence the interference of pain in women and that the average pain and the frequency of stress predict pain interference. Therefore, it is essential that the assessment and management of pain consider not only the intensity of the symptom, but also the social, economic and cultural context of the patient.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Desigualdade de gênero: uma análise das barreiras enfrentadas por mulheres no mercado de trabalho brasileiro(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-02-13) Lopes, Ingrid Cristhine; Garcia, Júlia Ribeiro; Ubeda, Cristina Lourenço; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6696784421924024; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6460-9462This term paper investigates female participation in the labor market, highlighting the barriers faced by women throughout their professional careers. In some situations, it is more efficient and practical to performe this task with machines. Historically, statistics has taken different approaches to classification processes, especially more recently with the development of machine learning and pattern recognition techniques, inspired by the functioning of the human brain. Sometimes, given that classification is crucial in many areas, we face challenges such as ineffective models or imbalanced data. In this context, traditional statistical methods may present errors, leading us to search for better solutions. By combining computational and statistical techniques, we can achieve more efficient classifiers. The focus of this work is to study the performance of bagging and boosting procedures using classification by trees whose performances will be evaluated by ROC curve, classification error rate, and cross-validation.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Contação de histórias sociais para promover comportamentos inclusivos entre crianças, do ensino fundamental, com e sem autismo(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-02-13) Alvarez, Maria Fernanda Andrade; Domeniconi, Camila; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9684535663947328Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is classified as a neurodevelopmental disorder with organic etiologies and known symptomatological characteristics that are based on difficulties in social interaction, in addition to restricted behaviors and interests. The acquisition of social behavior by children occurs mainly with peers and, in most cases, this learning begins when the individual enters school. Considering the common characteristics observed in children with ASD, it is possible to predict that they tend to experience greater loneliness in the school environment and in their lives. In this context, the present study aimed to apply a brief intervention, based on storytelling, aiming to increase the inclusive behavior of peers with children with ASD in the classroom. To this end, an intervention was carried out in a second-grade classroom of Elementary School I, in a school in the interior of São Paulo. The intervention consisted of applying two measures before the intervention, the Ecomap and the Semantic Differential Scale (SD), and one measure after the intervention (Semantic Differential Scale). The intervention consisted of telling a social story. From the Ecomap, it was possible to perceive the lack of reciprocity in the relationship between the autistic children and the rest of the class. The results obtained in the SD indicated that telling the social story impacted the children's perception of one of the characters in the story, who before the intervention was attributed neutral and negative characteristics and after the intervention, was attributed neutral and positive characteristics. These results may indicate that telling social stories can be an effective instrument in promoting inclusive behaviors. It is also suggested that the application of the measurement instruments be done before and after the intervention and that observation protocols be carried out in natural environments, such as during recess.
