Resumo

Beyond accelerating communication, technology has promoted new forms of relationships that now occur and develop in the online environment. In this context, practices such as sexting and the non-consensual sharing of intimate photos have emerged. Therefore, the present study aimed to analyze university students’ perceptions of sexting and the non-consensual exposure of intimate photos. Five university students of both genders, aged between 20 and 24, participated in the study. Data were collected through a registration form and a semi-structured interview guide. Data analysis followed Bardin’s (2016) proposal, adopting a structured qualitative approach. The results indicated that the term sexting is not widely known, although participants recognized that the non-consensual sharing of intimate photos is harmful, especially to women. Furthermore, other forms of online violence were identified in the participants’ accounts. Strategies such as open dialogue and the strengthening of support networks involving family, schools, and health services proved effective for the prevention and protection of victims.
