Grupos de permutações

Abstract

The present work consists of a study of permutation groups through solving exercises from the book “Permutation Groups” by John D. Dixon and Brian Mortimer, published by Springer in 1996. The text is divided in four chapters. In the second chapter, we present the work done in “Undergraduate Thesis 1”, which includes a brief review of some fundamental concepts in group theory and the solution of selected exercises from sections 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5 of the book. The third chapter, related to the “Undergraduate Thesis 2”, continues the resolution of exercises from section 1.5 and concludes with section 1.6. When necessary, we present some definitions or notations used. Keywords: Permutations. Symmetries. Actions.
