Resumo

This study aims to systematize the experience of an Occupational Therapy student in an educational group focused on pregnant women with diabetes using insulin, held in a high-risk outpatient clinic of a university hospital in the interior of São Paulo. The research uses a qualitative approach and uses the experience systematization technique to describe and reflect on the practice. The meetings took place in an outpatient waiting room, transformed into an educational space, and included the participation of an interdisciplinary team composed of professionals from medicine, nursing, nutrition, physical education, and occupational therapy. Data analysis revealed six main themes: the power of groups as a care strategy; the challenges of high-risk pregnancies; the importance of an individualized approach; interdisciplinary work; the role of occupational therapy in this context; and the formative impacts of the experience. The experience allowed us to observe that group health education is an effective tool for strengthening bonds, exchanging knowledge, and supporting high-risk pregnant women. It is concluded that the inclusion of Occupational Therapy in this field contributes to more comprehensive and humanized care, and that reports like this encourage the appreciation of educational practices in high-risk prenatal care.
