Resumo

This study analyzes the transformation of trade unionism during Lula's governments, marked by the shift from a movement of opposition and conflict to a relationship of social concertation with the State. The election of Lula, a former union leader, represented a turning point, promoting a strong institutionalization of the movement and granting union centrals direct access to centers of power. This rapprochement resulted in achievements such as the increase in the minimum wage, the strengthening of collective bargaining, and the legal recognition of the union centrals. However, the proximity to the government created a dilemma: support for an allied government began to conflict with the movement's critical and advocacy role. This context strengthened accusations of co-optation and called union autonomy into question. Based on authors such as Marco Aurélio Santana, Adalberto Moreira Cardoso, and Marcio Pochmann, the research proposes revisiting the literature on the subject, conducting a critical reading to understand how these processes are reflected in the current context of the movement.
