The narrative "The Journey on Planet Sigma" adopts a playful and interdisciplinary approach, in which the characters experience adventures in search of the elements Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Sulfur — substances fundamental to life. The research is qualitative in nature, based on the scientific literacy indicators of Pizarro (2023, pp. 26 and 27) and the guidelines of the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC, 2018). The proposed resource seeks to stimulate curiosity and scientific reasoning, bringing chemical concepts closer to children's daily lives through creative and accessible language. The research is grounded in Social Network Analysis (SNA) and collaboration networks, articulated with Pierre Bourdieu’s theory of the scientific field. Data were collected from the Lattes Platform profiles of active faculty members of the department and include journal articles classified as individual productions, co-productions among active department members, co-productions with graduate students, and co-productions with other collaborators. For the analysis, network metrics such as degree and betweenness centrality were applied using UCINET software, while the network visualization was developed with Gephi. The results indicate that co-production involving graduate students is the most significant, followed by collaborations among DEP faculty members. Professors with greater scientific capital occupy central positions in the network, benefiting from increased visibility and access to strategic collaborations, while peripheral actors show lower levels of integration. In Brazil, while public policies such as the BIM BR Strategy have established guidelines for its dissemination, effective implementation in the public sector is still marked by technical, cultural, and organizational barriers. In this context, the Federal Institutes of Education, Science, and Technology (IFs) constitute a strategic environment for innovation due to their national scope and relevance in managing educational infrastructure. This study aimed to develop and validate a BIM implementation protocol for the physical infrastructure of the IFs, with potential for adaptation by other public institutions. The research followed the Design Science Research (DSR) method, which combines scientific rigor with practical applicability in designing artifacts to solve organizational problems. The methodology comprised: (i) a scoping and documentary review of national and international guides, manuals, and protocols to identify recurring best practices and applicable guidelines; (ii) an exploratory survey with engineering and architecture professionals from 38 IFs to diagnose practices, maturity levels, and institutional challenges; and (iii) the development and subsequent validation of the proposed protocol by BIM experts, ensuring refinement and validation of the artifact. The results revealed recurrent challenges such as lack of training, cultural resistance to change, limited interoperability, and budget constraints, along with best practices consolidated into 18 key items related to governance, standardization, capacity building, and collaborative information management. The proposed protocol—modular in structure and supported by flowcharts, clearly defined roles, and monitoring stages—proved applicable and adaptable to institutional realities. It was recognized by experts as a clear, feasible methodological guide that supports decision-making. This study contributes to scientific advancement by bridging theory and practice in building a reference model for BIM implementation in the public sector, and offers practical contributions by providing a management tool for Federal Institutes and other public bodies. Conventional geosynthetic clay liners (GCLs) with natural sodium bentonite (NaB) may fail hydraulically when exposed to aggressive mining leachates (high ionic strength/extreme pH), as these liquids reduce osmotic swelling and cause flocculation. Most studies address GCLs with natural sodium and granular bentonites. In Brazil, however, sodium-activated calcium bentonites (CaB) are commonly used due to their abundance, mostly available in powdered form. Bentonite–polymer composites (BPCs) appear as alternatives, but polymer elution remains a concern, and the performance of BPCs with CaB under mining leachates is still little known. This study evaluated the hydraulic performance and viability of GCLs and BPCs produced with sodium-activated calcium bentonite (CaB), both unmodified and modified with linear and/or cross-linked polymers, as alternatives to natural sodium bentonite (NaB). These materials were tested under different mining leachates, saline, and extreme pH solutions. The effects of mineralogy and bentonite grain size were analyzed to understand their influence on GCL hydraulic behavior. Additionally, BPCs using three polymer types were investigated to enhance GCL performance for specific mining applications. Hydraulic conductivity (k) and swell index (SI) tests were performed, including analyses of pre-hydration and granulometry (powder, fine/coarse granular). All bentonites showed reduced swelling and increased k when in contact with mining liquids. GCLs made with sodium-activated calcium bentonites (CaB) generally outperformed those with natural NaB, often meeting the < 5×10⁻¹¹ m/s requirement. CaB mineralogy was less affected, and its powdered granulometry had a stronger impact on performance. Pure CaB GCLs, however, exhibited higher k in aggressive leachates. BPCs, especially those with CaB and linear polymers (Y) or specific combinations, showed improved chemical resistance, maintaining low k (< 5×10⁻¹¹ m/s) due to pore blocking by hydrogels. Fine bentonite particles were crucial under high ionic strength, outweighing mineralogical effects. Pre-hydration in water was also essential for performance. Polymer addition enhanced hydraulic behavior, but the polymer type must match the leachate chemistry. Polymer selection and granulometry determined resistance to elution. Recognizing early childhood as a period of intense cultural production, the study addresses the complexity of capturing and attributing meaning to the ephemeral and playful experiences of infants and toddlers (zero to three years and eleven months), which frequently do not result in tangible material products. Thus, the main objective is to determine how the teacher can create portfolios that record these experiences in a sensitive and ethical manner. The research adopts a qualitative, bibliographic approach based on the analysis of normative documents and works by authors who discuss the pedagogy of listening and documentation. The findings demonstrate that documentation requires the teacher to possess an ethical and aesthetic competence characterized by reflective curation, making the portfolio an ideal tool for giving visibility to the child’s voice. Congo Red dye, widely used in different industrial sectors, stands out for its resistance to removal by conventional treatment methods, reinforcing the need for efficient and sustainable alternatives for wastewater treatment. In this study, the potential of sugarcane bagasse ash, in its raw and chemically treated forms, as a biosorbent for the removal of Congo Red dye from aqueous solutions. The ash samples were characterized for their physical and chemical properties and applied in batch adsorption experiments, varying parameters such as contact time and initial dye concentration. The results showed that chemical treatment with NaOH significantly increased the adsorption capacity due to the greater exposure of active functional groups and the increase in specific surface area. The adsorption kinetics were best fitted by the pseudo-second-order model, suggesting that the process is mainly controlled by chemical interactions between the adsorbate and the biosorbent surface. The equilibrium data were better described by the Langmuir model, indicating monolayer adsorption. The research was conducted through a bibliographic review, gathering scientific articles, technical books, international standards, and official documents addressing meat quality, safety, and composition. The evaluated studies show that, although nitrite and nitrate are essential for color fixation, the development of characteristic flavor, and the control of microorganisms such as Clostridium botulinum, their use requires monitoring, especially due to the potential formation of nitrosamines and the need to comply with legal limits established for safe application. The study also examined the potential of essential oils as natural alternatives capable of complementing or partially reducing the use of synthetic preservatives, considering their antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, which contribute to product stability. It is concluded that the integration of traditional technologies with natural alternatives represents a promising path for the Brazilian meat industry, promoting improvements in safety, quality, and alignment with the growing demand for more natural products and clean labeling.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Inteligência emocional e sua relação com o vício em redes sociais e sintomas depressivos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-11-27) Nogueira, Lorena Franklin Mayrink; Muniz, Monalisa; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9444899939943716Emotional intelligence (EI), that is, the ability to analyze emotions and feelings in ourselves and others, as well as to use them to guide actions and thoughts according to the environment, is an important psychological construct for human beings and their relationships, and has been studied with various variables in recent years, such as depression and social media addiction. In this sense, the objective of this study was to investigate the moderating effect of EI on the relationship between depression and social media addiction, as well as the correlations between these variables. To this end, 196 adults, aged 18 to 60 years (M = 32.2), who used at least one social media platform, participated in the research. Participants were invited to complete an online form consisting of a sociodemographic characterization questionnaire and three self-report instruments: the Emotional Competencies Inventory 3.0 (ICE-R) (Bueno et al., 2015), the DSM-5 Depression Symptom Scale, Level 2 (2014), and the adapted and validated version by Fonseca et al. (2018) of the Social Network Addiction Questionnaire (CARS) (Mayaute & Blas, 2014). The variable depression correlated negatively and significantly with the 6 factors of the ICE-R and positively with social network addiction. Social media addiction was significantly and negatively correlated with the facets “Regulation of High-Power Emotions in Self” (⍴ = -0.194**), “General Factor” (⍴ = -0.251**), and “Regulation of Low-Power Emotions in Self” (⍴ = -0.438**) of the ICE-R. The focus is primarily on transformations regarding concepts such as soil and ecological balance, seeking to examine how (or if) the use of biological pesticides can redefine the understanding of multispecies interactions. Classical empirical models, although widely used, show limitations in representing the nonlinear behavior of the mean flow stress (MFS) and the applied rolling force under real industrial conditions. In this context, the present work introduces the development of a prediction model based on fuzzy logic, structured in a tree format (Fuzzy Inference System Tree – FIST), to estimate the MFS and rolling force during the hot rolling of a niobium microalloyed steel plates. The study used industrial data obtained from a steel plant, considering four final thicknesses (12, 16, 20, and 30 mm), processed in eight successive finishing passes. The fuzzy model was implemented in MATLAB, employing triangular membership functions, Sugeno-type rules, and supervised training using the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Pattern Search algorithms. The results were compared with well-established empirical models, such as those proposed by Misaka and Poliak, showing that the FIST achieved superior predictive performance, especially under conditions of strain accumulation and below the non-recrystallization temperature (Tnr). A critical analysis of the results demonstrated that the fuzzy model can capture the nonlinearities of the process and integrate metallurgical mechanisms such as dynamic (DRX), static (SRX), and metadynamic (MDRX) recrystallization while maintaining high interpretability. The election of Lula, a former union leader, represented a turning point, promoting a strong institutionalization of the movement and granting union centrals direct access to centers of power. This rapprochement resulted in achievements such as the increase in the minimum wage, the strengthening of collective bargaining, and the legal recognition of the union centrals. However, the proximity to the government created a dilemma: support for an allied government began to conflict with the movement's critical and advocacy role. This context strengthened accusations of co-optation and called union autonomy into question. The study was conducted at Parque do Bicão (Veraldo Sbampato Sports and Leisure Center), in São Carlos, São Paulo, Brazil, with fieldwork carried out between February and June 2025. Fieldwork combined non-participant observation, systematic photo-documentation, and a structured questionnaire (n = 33). The analysis was organized into empirical units defined as scenes and segments of the park, linking descriptive accounts of what was observed to an interpretation guided by the three NSE-PC planes: material conditions, shared meanings, and perceived effects on well-being. Photographs were treated as situated traces and interpreted alongside field notes and visitors‘ stated perceptions. In Bicão, the most persistent tensions clustered around shade, safety, maintenance, and lighting, and appear as ambivalences of use: what supports comfort may require additional attention; what expands the repertoire of practices may introduce frictions. Even so, practices tend to continue through adjustments in time of day, routes, and pace, and the well-being balance is more favorable when the path maintains minimal legibility and predictability. Because phytoplankton responds rapidly to environmental shifts, they serve as effective indicators of water quality. Comparative studies have shown that phytoplankton community analyses based on morphological identification under an inverted optical microscope (the “classical” method) or on metabarcoding of 18S amplicons (targeting eukaryotes) and 16S amplicons (targeting prokaryotes such as cyanobacteria, but also chloroplasts of autotrophic eukaryotes) can both be applied for aquatic ecosystem monitoring. However, different methods likely depict the environment in distinct ways, and determining which approach is most suitable for assessing aquatic environmental dynamics remains a challenge. In this study, microscopy and sequencing data were obtained from 60 samples collected monthly by the Broa/Lobo Reservoir Microbial Observatory (BroaMO). Community composition dynamics were examined and related to environmental variables using multivariate analyses. The three methods were compared to evaluate which one best captures the dynamics of the aquatic environment and water quality. The central hypothesis is that each method provides different insights into species composition and abundance. Although molecular approaches offer higher resolution regarding community abundance patterns and temporal dynamics, microscopy proved more effective in describing environmental conditions and explaining environmental variability. Thus, we conclude that each approach portrays the environment differently within its methodological limitations, and that integrating traditional and molecular methods can enhance community analyses by providing a broader and more accurate understanding of phytoplankton dynamics and their responses to environmental change.
