Resumo

The topic of deafblindness is rarely discussed and explored in the academic sphere, as it pertains to a minority community, both linguistically and socially. Deafblindness is a unique disability that combines deafness/hearing impairment and blindness/visual impairment/low vision, which can affect individuals at different stages of life. This study aimed to identify the most current topics related to deafblindness in academic research through a bibliographic review of the Capes Journal Portal. For this purpose, publications from the last five years, from 2019 to 2024, were considered current. A total of 22 articles were found, which were organized into five categories: Education, Communication, Professional Training for SC (Deafblindness) Care, Development, and Accessibility. Based on the articles found, a full reading and analysis were carried out, considering the main findings of the studies. The results indicate that the most recent research focuses on Communication and Education, emphasizing the importance of these topics for 7 development and learning. However, few studies were found on Professional Training for SC Care, Accessibility, and Development, revealing a scarcity of publications on these topics. This research allowed for the acquisition of current knowledge on the subject, highlighting the importance of encouraging new studies in the area, as well as the need for deeper discussions and reflections that aim to explore the communicative and social aspects of deafblindness.
