Resumo
The lack of data on the use of screens by Brazilian children was accentuated by the Covid-19 pandemic, which changed the way in which this use occurs. The main objective of this study was to characterize the use of television, personal computer and cell phone by children aged 6 to 59 months, from the point of view of adults, during the pandemic context. An online questionnaire was completed by 219 adults who lived with the target audience. The characterization considered: use of screens; co-viewing with an adult; participation in remote meetings; contributions of devices to skills acquisition. Descriptive statistical analyzes indicated that, in the pandemic, the use of the three devices has increased and there is a possibility of children being exposed to screens without adult supervision. The findings indicate the need for further studies in Brazil, which may also contribute as sources of information that support the optimization of recommendations for the use of devices.
