Resumo
Reinforced concrete beams are widely studied by civil engineering students and professionals. As reinforced concrete is one of the most used structural systems in the works carried out, it is essential that the calculations used in its design are accurate, in order to make the most of the materials used in its composition. When subjected to bending, cracks form in the structural element, which causes a reduction in the stiffness of the beam. It is essential to consider this physical nonlinearity of concrete to obtain results close to the real case when calculating the displacement of beams. Methods for calculating this displacement are studied until today, but among them we can highlight two simplified methods, that of Branson (1968), adopted by NBR 6118 (ABNT, 2014), and the method of Bischoff (2005), used by ACI 318 -19 (American Concrete Institute, 2019). Another widely studied method uses finite elements to simulate a reinforced concrete beam. This work sought to create a computational tool, using the Python language, capable of calculating the displacement in beams using all these methods simultaneously, allowing the comparison between the results obtained through graphs and tables.
