Resumo

A skill that is becoming increasingly relevant in today’s society, with technological advances and the increasing digitalization of several areas is Computational Thinking, which has been considered a fundamental skill to understand and deal with technology effectively. It is an increasingly relevant competence in the current context, as it enables people to face technological challenges and to make decisions faced in a digital world in constant evolution. Computational Thinking is an interdisciplinary approach that links mathematical concepts with real-world experiences. It can be used in conjunction with basic education subjects, following the competences proposed by the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC). Computational Thinking involves solving problems, designing systems and understanding human behavior. Several studies examined examined the applications of Computational Thinking in teaching, showing several possibilities for this insertion, focusing on the disciplines of Mathematics and Physics. Although most studies relate Computational Thinking to programming, there is evidence of the benefits of Computational Thinking in subjects other than programming, such as Mathematics, although these are mainly observed empirically and subjectively. Currently, Computational Thinking teaching strategies are often adopted without a systematized approach to assist teachers in introducing these activities in the context of Mathematics teaching. This work proposes the application of the concepts and pillars of Computational Thinking in the resolution of problems of Mathematics Olympiads, with the objective of verifying if the students can create their own solutions and providing guidelines for the creation of activities and exercises that incorporate Computational Thinking. During this work, a bibliographic survey was carried out regarding the authors and reference materials in the area; interventions in Olympic Nucleus classes; development of a guide for application in problem solving and mathematics olympiads and; the evaluation with specialists. This research aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of Computational Thinking in solving problems of Mathematical Olympiads by students of Basic Education, reviewing the state of the art through a bibliographical survey on Computational Thinking and tools available to insert in the resolution of questions of Mathematical Olympiads according to the educational process.
