Resumo

This thesis investigated the transformations of ecodesign from the perspective of the Science, Technology and Society (STS) field, analyzing the artifacts present in the solidarity economy fairs in Joinville, in the state of Santa Catarina. The research started from the following central question: how does design transform into ecodesign and what makes it a solidarity-based technoscience? The general objective was to understand the re-elaboration of design in the face of the contradictions of capitalist industrial society, configuring itself as a new technoscience of an engaged nature, according to the assumptions of the STS field. The theoretical foundation articulated Latour's "redesign" and "things in dispute," Winner's politics of artifacts, Singer's self-management, and Dagnino's Sociotechnical Adequacy (AST). Methodologically, an exploratory research with a qualitative approach was carried out, using Bardin's Content Analysis (thematic and categorical analysis), on data collected via participant observation and questionnaires. The field research took place in two phases: initially, observation with photographic records and sensitive listening, characterizing a preliminary approach to the object; subsequently, a questionnaire was applied. Both stages allowed for the identification of relevant findings, such as differences in the articulation and organization processes of the fairs, as well as similarities, highlighting female protagonism, engagement in social causes, and environmental awareness, evidenced by the use of recycled materials and raw materials from a sustainable perspective. Processes of socio-technical adaptation in product manufacturing tools and in sales and exhibition dynamics were also identified, such as the adaptation of stalls and parasols. The results revealed a significant female protagonism (87%) and the presence of intuitive ecodesign practices, based on the 5Rs and the reuse of textile and organic waste. However, the precariousness of the physical infrastructure of the fairs, the lack of institutional support in dissemination and communication with consumers, as well as the inadequacy of the stalls in the face of unstable weather conditions, became evident. The thesis proposes a transition to a Solidarity Ecodesign, indicating proactive public policies, such as the creation of resilient solidarity stalls, collective technoscience laboratories, logistical support, and institutional marketing plans. It concludes with the proposition of three major agendas—technoscientific, political, and solidarity—that aim to integrate cognitive sovereignty, socio-environmental justice, and self-management into the design process, reaffirming ecodesign as a tool for social transformation.
