Item type:Item, O Instagram como ferramenta de divulgação da agroecologia: uma análise das publicações dos perfis @ana_agroecologia e @aba.agroecologia(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-02-13) ;Sanches, João Lucas Soares ;Marjotta-Maistro, Marta Cristina ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3987280258617095 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2548-6214Montebello, Adriana Estela SanjuanThe social network Instagram has become an important tool, consolidating itself as a dynamic space for the production and circulation of narratives across various fields, including socio-environmental issues. When analyzing agroecology from its technical, political, and cultural perspectives, it becomes essential to map how these informational flows are consumed. Such analysis reveals not only the reach of the message but also the influence of agroecology within digital environments. In this context, the following research problem emerges: in what ways do the communication and engagement strategies on Instagram employed by the organizations ANA and ABA contribute to the dissemination of agroecology in Brazil? Accordingly, the objective of this study was to analyze the Instagram posts of the Articulação Nacional de Agroecologia (ANA) and the Associação Brasileira de Agroecologia (ABA), considering aspects such as engagement and digital communication strategies. The methodology was based on a netnographic investigation with a mixed-methods approach (qualitative and quantitative). Through descriptive statistics, Instagram posts were analyzed with a focus on engagement (likes, comments, shares, and number of followers) and thematic content. Data collection took place between January 13 and 15, 2026, covering the time frame from January to December 2025. The ANA profile has approximately 89.6 thousand followers and totals 6,080 posts. In turn, the ABA profile has around 31.6 thousand followers and accumulates 1,283 posts within the same period. Both profiles were created in January 2018. Within the study sample, 1,238 posts were identified, of which 847 belong to the ANA profile and 391 to the ABA profile. The results show that ANA presents a greater volume and regularity of posts, with a socio-political focus, whereas ABA is characterized by a lower posting frequency and more academically oriented content. Moreover, both profiles exhibit similar levels of engagement, suggesting that interaction is more closely related to thematic relevance and the use of communication strategies—such as images and collaborations—than to the sheer quantity of posts.Item type:Item, Possibilidades para a prevenção de violência de gênero nas escolas a partir de um relato de experiência(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-02-13) ;Arrebola, Fernanda Salustiano ;Bozzini, Isabela Custódio Talora ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/0853746645322544https://lattes.cnpq.br/8230662588488417This paper presents an experiential account that analyses school experiences marked by various manifestations of gender-based violence, drawing on the relationship between the author’s formative memories—particularly during her supervised teaching placement—and theoretical frameworks of Dialogic Feminism (DF) and Dialogic Learning (DL), within the context of Learning Communities (LC). The situations described highlight the persistence of historically structured inequalities that manifest themselves through physical, symbolic, psychological and institutional violence, affecting girls and women. The methodology is grounded in the qualitative analysis of lived experiences, interpreted in the light of national and international studies discussing gender, education, violence and transformative pedagogical practices. The results indicate that the absence of intentional educational interventions favours the normalisation of stigmas, whilst practices based on egalitarian dialogue, the participation of the entire school community and the valuing of differences contribute to the construction of inclusive and safe school environments. Thus, it is concluded that the school, by adopting a critical stance committed to social justice, can become a space for the prevention of violence and the promotion of democratic relationships from early childhood onwards, fostering transformation in the lives of all members of the community.Item type:Item, Análise da conformidade de laudos de inspeção predial à ABNT NBR 16747:2020 e às legislações aplicáveis(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-02-13) ;Macedo dos Santos, Rebeca ;Serra, Sheyla Mara Baptista ;http://lattes.cnpq.br/8528385567782505 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9508-976XPaliari, José CarlosRegular building inspections and maintenance, carried out according to technical criteria by specialized professionals, are essential to ensure the safety, functionality, and durability of structures. This dissertation aimed to analyze the compliance of a sample of building inspection reports with the parameters outlined in ABNT NBR 16747 (2020). The specific objectives included analyzing the historical development of standards and regulations related to building inspection in Brazil, relating applicable legislation to the provisions of ABNT NBR 16747 (2020), investigating normative requirements associated with document management, and evaluating the relevance of technical documentation in the building inspection process. The research adopted a methodological approach comprising a literature review, document analysis, and a critical analysis of applicable legislation. In addition, a verification instrument grounded in the requirements of ABNT NBR 16747 (2020) was developed and used to analyze 21 technical reports on buildings of different typologies qualitatively and uses. The results revealed gaps and inconsistencies in the analyzed reports, particularly in document management, descriptions of building systems, and references to applicable legislation. The absence or insufficiency of technical documents compromises the reliability of the analyses and hinders the proper characterization of the identified irregularities. Furthermore, significant variability was observed in the application of the criteria established by ABNT NBR 16747 (2020), demonstrating the need for greater standardization and professional training. It is concluded that document management plays a strategic role in building inspections and is essential for ensuring the quality and reliability of technical reports.Item type:Item, Efeitos de uma intervenção em comunicação aumentativa e alternativa para crianças com necessidades complexas de comunicação(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-02-13) ;Gomes, Maria Caroline Volpin ;Lourenço, Gerusa Ferreira ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1474728505225459 ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3300621760349154Lourenço, Gerusa FerreiraThe absence or difficulty of communication during childhood causes impacts on development, the acquisition of autonomy, and the performance of roles in areas of occupation that are typical of this stage. Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) aims to compensate for difficulties and/or disabilities that are expressed temporarily or permanently by individuals who present deficits in expression or comprehension. From this perspective, the occupational therapist, in partnership with special education professionals, can establish collaborative work in order to ensure access to communication and guarantee the full exercise of human rights for individuals with complex communication needs (CCN). Thus, this study was characterized as a single-subject research design of the AB Follow-up type, with the objective of verifying the effects of an intervention focused on AAC in the occupational therapy clinical setting. Two children with CCN participated in the intervention—one diagnosed with cerebral palsy and the other with autism spectrum disorder—aged nine and five years, respectively, and indirectly, their mothers and teachers. The procedures involved the application of instruments for the selection, assessment, and characterization of the children, the implementation of weekly therapy sessions, the recording of these sessions, guidance provided to teachers, and social validation with the mothers and teacher. Based on the independent variable (AAC intervention) and the dependent variable (the child’s communicative function), data were analyzed descriptively, both qualitatively and quantitatively, organized into tables and quantified by frequency of occurrence of opportunities and responses. As results, it was observed that both participants showed an increase in response emissions after phase B and an increase in the percentage of communicative types. One participant progressed from communicative intent to the use of conventional gestures and the use of a symbol through eye gaze, while the other progressed from communicative intent to the use of two or more symbols on a robust high-technology communication board. Regarding social validation, the mothers and teacher reported perceiving improvements in the participants’ interactions. It was concluded that the proposed interventions produced positive effects on the participants’ communication, as both began in phase A as emerging communicators and, at follow-up, were classified as a transitional emerging communicator and a context-dependent communicator. The findings of this study highlight that interventions tailored to the demands, interests, and life context of each AAC user are essential for the effectiveness of system use, ensuring that it is not only available but truly functional for communication.Item type:Item, Estudo da cinemática do ensaio de fratura pelo método da cunha com auxílio da técnica de correlação de imagens digitais(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-02-18) ;Cardoso, Matheus William Parmezani ;Sciuti, Vinicius Fiocco ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/0230261917656691 ;Canto, Rodrigo Brescianihttps://lattes.cnpq.br/1316268411830615Castable refractories are indispensable in the basic industry due to their ability to maintain physicochemical properties at high temperatures. Owing to the quasi-brittle nature of these materials, crack initiation and propagation over prolonged service times are inevitable, and improving their durability can be achieved through the development of compositions that maximize resistance to crack propagation. Fracture energy, directly related to this resistance, can be obtained by the Wedge Splitting Test (WST). The Digital Image Correlation (DIC) technique is frequently used with the WST, as it enables non-contact full-field displacement measurements on the specimen. In this work, the repeatability of fracture energy was investigated for seven nominally identical specimens, and the spurious contribution introduced when energy is determined exclusively from testing machine data was quantified. For three WSTs exhibiting the highest repeatability, the efficiency of the experimental setup in transferring work to the specimens, the kinematics of the Load Transfer System (LTS), and the fracture process on both analyzed faces were also investigated. Results showed that measurements based on the vertical actuator displacement systematically overestimate fracture energy by approximately 8.4% relative to CMOD (Crack Mouth Opening Displacement)-based measurements obtained via DIC, with the overall system efficiency stabilizing at 92-93% during the final loading stages. The kinematic analysis demonstrated that the loose-component LTS exhibits globally stable behavior, with negligible sliding at the contacts and roller motion asymmetries below 5% of the final CMOD. Crack propagation showed a two-stage behavior: spatial advance of the crack front followed by progressive crack opening in the post-peak regime.Item type:Item, Ser mulher ceramista: narrativas sobre arte-trabalho-educação(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-02-19) ;Oliveira, Stéfany Vitores de ;Auad, Daniela ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/8903433226323112 ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4033923526235991Cordeiro, Ana Luisa AlvesHow is working with clay intersected and crossed by gender relations in the process of being a woman and a ceramist? Between shaping the clay; academic paths; wandering through fairs and workshops; and listening to the life stories of women ceramists, the theoretical frameworks, specific objectives, and methodologies used in this exhibition were constructed. The theoretical framework of the research is based on feminist and decolonial epistemologies. The research aimed to address the triad of art-work-education and its intertwining with gender relations in the trajectories of women ceramists from the city of Sorocaba, in the interior of the State of São Paulo. These women were found through an independent art fair called Feira do Beco do Inferno; a political choice, since this space (or event) can be understood as an educational social movement. There is a sentence frequently used by ceramists: “clay has memory”. When this perspective is adopted, this research admits that clay captures and materializes knowledge, experiences, affections, giving form to feelings as a symbolic expression. Furthermore, it can be a path to subjectivation and autonomy, conferring the identity of artist or craftswoman to those who produce it. In ceramics, the triad of art-work-education intersects and interacts at different scales in the trajectories of women ceramists. Knowledge of ceramics allows access to a sensitive experience, to the dimension of the erotic and the construction of other work possibilities. The research also discusses the teaching/learning processes of ceramics as part of the concept of artisan pedagogy.Item type:Item, Ativação por laser pulsado da liga TiVNbCr para armazenagem de hidrogênio(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-02-19) ;Cameirão, Ana Rodrigues ;Almeida, Juliana Mara Pinto de ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7830925338249360 ;Zepon, Guilhermehttps://lattes.cnpq.br/7924187202036614Multicomponent alloys are a safer and efficient way of storing hydrogen, as they can react reversibly with H to form hydrides. Alloys from the Ti-V-Nb-Cr system, for example, form hydrides capable of storing about 3 wt.% of H. However, when these alloys are exposed to air for long periods, due to surface contamination, it is necessary to perform activation procedures required to restore their hydrogen storage properties. In this context, our group was the pioneer in reporting a new activation method based on the use of a pulsed laser, called PLA (Pulsed Laser Activation). However, the mechanisms involved in laser-matter interaction during the PLA method are not completely understood. Thus, the main objective of this master's project is to investigate the pulsed laser activation (PLA) process of an equiatomic Ti-V-Nb-Cr alloy for hydrogen storage, advancing the understanding of the mechanisms involved in the PLA method. For this purpose, samples of the pure metals and an equiatomic alloy of the Ti-V-Nb-Cr system were prepared under five main conditions and their combinations: 1) pristine, 2) aged in air, 3) aged in water, 4) after thermal activation, and 5) after the PLA method. They were then characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), surface roughness (RA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV-Vis spectroscopy, and a Sieverts-type volumetric apparatus. The results showed that the PLA method was effective as an activation method only for the equiatomic TiVNbCr alloy, promoting high hydrogen capacity and kinetics, reaching 3 wt.% of H in just one minute. Surface analyses also revealed that the PLA method induces surface remelting, increased roughness, the formation of holes and cracks, and the formation of an oxide layer rich in Ti, factors that contribute to the material’s activation.Item type:Item, Ensino Baseado em Simulação interprofissional para medicação segura: ensaio clínico randomizado(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-02-19) ;Lozano, André Wilian ;Silva, Jaqueline Alcântara Marcelino da ;http://lattes.cnpq.br/8311079340428705 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8307-8609http://lattes.cnpq.br/2109655852076181Introduction: Interprofessional education integrated with simulation in healthcare constitutes a pedagogical strategy that favors the development of collaborative skills essential to teamwork and patient safety, especially in the context of the medication process. The available literature shows a predominance of studies with observational designs and a scarcity of experimental designs focused on interprofessional simulation for safe medication, demonstrating scientific gaps related to the experimental evaluation of these pedagogical methods, as well as their educational effects. Objective: To develop, implement, and evaluate interprofessional simulation scenarios focusing on the safe medication process for health professions students. Method: A qualitative-quantitative, analytical, experimental, prospective study, of the randomized clinical trial type, with two blinded groups (interprofessional intervention (A) and uniprofessional control (B)). The intervention consisted of applying three healthcare simulation scenarios of increasing complexity, previously constructed and validated by experts using the Delphi technique. Validated instruments for assessing interprofessional readiness (RIPLS-40), OSCE and ITOSCE for professional performance, and a validated scale of satisfaction and self-confidence were used, with appropriate inferential statistical analysis for intragroup and intergroup comparisons. The research was conducted with the approval of the Research Ethics Committee. Results: 57 students from Nursing, Medicine, and Pharmacy participated. Three healthcare simulations were conducted focusing on critical steps in the safe medication process, led by previously trained facilitators. A statistically significant increase in readiness for interprofessional learning and observable performance improvements related to medication reconciliation, prescription, preparation, administration, medication monitoring, and identification of avoidable errors were observed in both groups. The performance gains identified in the immediate post-test (30 days) were maintained in the late post-test (90 days), indicating retention of learning. No statistically significant differences were identified between the interprofessional and uniprofessional groups, indicating educational equivalence between active pedagogical formats. Additionally, high levels of student satisfaction and self-confidence were observed. Conclusion: Intentionally planned, expert-validated, and interprofessional education-based healthcare simulation proved effective in developing collaborative competencies related to medication safety, promoting significant gains in observable professional performance and readiness for interprofessional learning. Both interprofessional and uniprofessional simulations promoted consistent intragroup advancements, demonstrating educational equivalence between active approaches. The absence of a statistically significant difference between the groups indicates non-rejection of the null hypothesis. This investigation advances the state of the art by integrating, in an unprecedented way in the Brazilian context, the construction, validation, and experimental evaluation of interprofessional simulation scenarios focused on medication safety, representing, to the best of our knowledge, the first randomized clinical trial conducted in the country with this focus. The findings have the potential to impact health education and the improvement of interprofessional practices, with implications for promoting patient safety, improving health education, and strengthening health systems.Item type:Item, Elementos constituintes da identidade docente na área de ensino de ciências e matemática(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-02-19) ;Silva, Marcos Paulo ;Furlan, Elaine Gomes Matheus ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3179865576965852 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5413-7964https://lattes.cnpq.br/3373655804902988The undergraduate teacher training programs seek, through their curricula, to promote initial training for the teaching profession. However, due to the low interest in the teaching career, it is still common for undergraduates and graduates to migrate to other areas in detriment of teaching, factors that may be related to working conditions and the low recognition of the profession by society. Regarding Natural Sciences and Mathematics, there have been significant advances that allowed for greater visibility for the area with the creation of Graduate Programs and, in certain cases, curriculum reformulations. Furthermore, Teaching Incentive Programs have emerged in recent years aiming for greater attractiveness for the teaching career, through teaching practice even during initial training, as in the case of the Institutional Program of Scholarships for Initiation to Teaching (PIBID) and the Pedagogical Residency Program (PRP). In this sense, based on Marcelo García (1999), Nóvoa (1992) and Gatti (2012), who address the issue of teacher training; Huberman (1992) who studies the stages of the teaching career and, Dubar (2005) who investigates Teacher Identity, this work sought, through a bibliographic research and, subsequently, the use of Discursive Textual Analysis, to verify which are the most recurrent elements for the initial training and also, for the construction of the Teacher Identity of undergraduates from courses focused on natural sciences and mathematics, in the context of theses and dissertations defended in Programs in the area of Science teaching. Results indicate that some factors appear as more significant for the professional choice for teaching, such as family and teacher influences, as well as the individual life trajectories of each individual. It was also observed, through the analyses of the dissertations and theses, that the specificity of the area of natural sciences and mathematics was not located, indicating that, despite there being identification with the area of study, this is not the only preponderant factor in the choice of the teaching career.Item type:Item, Barreiras e facilitadores para oferta de programas de atividade física e redução do comportamento sedentário em pessoas idosas institucionalizadas(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-02-19) ;Schwenger, Layana Liss ;Ansai, Juliana Hotta ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1028110691131464 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9873-3509Gomes, Grace Angélica de OliveiraIntroduction: Despite the benefits of physical activity for the health and functionality of older adults, adherence to recommendations remains low, especially in Long-Term Care Facilities for Older Adults (LTCFs). Individual and organizational barriers may compromise the provision and implementation of physical activity programs, and Brazilian studies addressing these factors in institutional contexts are still scarce. Objective: To analyze the barriers and facilitators perceived by healthcare professionals, managers, and owners regarding the implementation of physical activity programs and the reduction of sedentary behavior in LTCFs. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study using a mixed-methods approach (quantitative–qualitative), conducted with healthcare professionals, managers, and owners working in LTCFs in municipalities in the interior of the state of São Paulo. Data collected via a Google Forms questionnaire were exported to Excel. Data from the focus group were recorded, and participants’ reports were transcribed, analyzed, and categorized using Bardin’s content analysis. Results: The study included 48 healthcare professionals and 12 managers and owners. The barriers identified from the questionnaires (quantitative and qualitative data) were mainly related to residents’ conditions, such as cognitive and physical limitations; organizational factors, such as reduced working hours and lack of awareness; and workforce-related issues, such as limited staff. Findings from the focus group further deepened these issues, highlighting strategies such as individualized assessments to adapt activities, strengthening interpersonal bonds, raising staff awareness, and management support. Among the facilitators, team and management commitment, activity planning, and availability of resources stood out. Conclusion: The implementation of physical activity programs in LTCFs involves multiple individual and organizational factors. Recognizing barriers and facilitators can support more effective strategies, contributing to the expansion, adherence, and sustainability of these practices within institutional settings.Item type:Item, Estratégias integradas de modificação de nanopartículas de óxido de zinco aplicadas à redução eletroquímica de CO2 a CO(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-02-20) ;Nóbrega, Eryka Thamyris Damascena ;Souza, Ernesto Chaves Pereira de ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1505400360366643 ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/0986012637214676Oliveira, Cauê Ribeiro deAnthropogenic carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions represent one of the major environmental challenges of the present time, driving the development of strategies aimed at integrating carbon into sustainable chemical cycles. In this context, the electrochemical reduction of CO2 into value-added products, particularly carbon monoxide (CO), has emerged as a promising alternative. In this work, ZnO-based systems modified with Co2+, Ag+, and Cu2+, as well as Ag+/Cu2+ co-modified materials, were investigated. The catalysts were synthesized through a hydrothermal route assisted by microwave heating and UV-Vis radiation. The experimental strategy was supported by chemometric tools, enabling a statistically robust evaluation of the main effects and interactions among chemical composition, synthesis conditions, and operational parameters. The materials were characterized using structural, morphological, and electronic techniques. Electrochemical performance was evaluated in cells operating under continuous CO2 flow, employing gas diffusion electrodes and different applied potentials or current densities. Reaction products were quantified by chromatographic analysis, allowing the determination of Faradaic efficiencies. For the Co2+-doped ZnO system, cobalt incorporation induced significant changes in the electronic structure, including a reduction in charge carrier density and the introduction of deep defect states. These modifications hindered electronic transport at low overpotentials, resulting in lower selectivity toward CO. Although synthesis assisted by UV-Vis radiation modulated the nature of these defects and favored charge migration at more negative potentials, pristine ZnO synthesized without UV-Vis irradiation exhibited the best performance, reaching Faradaic efficiencies close to 97% for CO at more negative potentials, such as -1.0 V vs. RHE. In systems modified with Ag+, Cu2+, and Ag+/Cu2+, the presence of Ag+ proved particularly effective in improving the electrocatalytic performance of ZnO. ZnO(Ag) catalysts achieved Faradaic efficiencies above 80% for CO even at high current densities (up to -100 mA cm-2). This behavior is attributed to improved charge transport, enhanced CO2 adsorption, and greater stabilization of reaction intermediates. In contrast, Cu-containing materials exhibited lower selectivity toward CO, although they promoted the formation of minor products, suggesting modifications in reaction pathways and the possible promotion of competing routes. The Ag+/Cu2+ systems showed intermediate behavior, indicating that the synergistic effect between the metals strongly depends on their relative proportion and surface distribution. Overall, the results demonstrate that the electrocatalytic performance of ZnO is governed by a complex interplay between metal incorporation, synthesis method, and operational conditions.Item type:Item, Avaliação de efeito do Triclosan em órgãos internos de operárias campeiras de Bombus atratus (Hymenoptera: Apidae)(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-02-20) ;Provase, Michele ;Abdalla, Fábio Camargo ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7770803221041927 ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7262712256652151https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7083-3815Emerging contaminants (ECs) are synthetic or natural compounds that, despite their widespread use, present regulatory gaps regarding environmental threshold limits and potential ecotoxicological effects. Triclosan (TCS) has emerged as a compound of concern due to its persistence, high lipophilicity, and bioaccumulative properties. Although use restrictions have been imposed by regulatory agencies, the consumption of TCS-containing products increased during the COVID-19 pandemic, raising concerns about its environmental release. In this context, the present thesis was structured into three chapters. Chapter 1 comprises a scientometric and ecotoxicological analysis of the scientific literature addressing the effects of TCS on terrestrial organisms, focusing on bioaccumulation, oxidative stress, neurotoxicity, and reproductive effects in vertebrates and invertebrates. The findings reveal a substantial lack of studies involving insects, particularly pollinators, which limit comprehensive environmental risk assessments. Chapter 2 evaluated, for the first time, the effects of oral exposure to TCS in worker bees of Bombus atratus, using concentrations based on maximum limits permitted for continuous use in personal hygiene products as established by regulatory agencies. Histological and histochemical alterations were observed in the brain, including increased intercellular spaces and changes consistent with neurotoxic processes, which were associated with behavioral alterations detected through automated analysis using the EthoFlow software. Chapter 3 investigated the effects of TCS on the digestive system, with emphasis on the midgut, as well as on tissues comprising the hepato-nephrocytic system, including the fat body and pericardial cells associated with the dorsal vessel. Morphological and cellular alterations in these tissues indicated impairment of functions related to digestion, detoxification, and homeostasis. The effects observed in Chapters 2 and 3, even at sublethal levels, indicate potential functional impairment at the individual level, with possible implications for colony performance and maintenance. Overall, the results reinforce the need to establish specific guidelines for TCS residues in the environment and expand current knowledge on the impacts of this emerging contaminant on pollinators, particularly species of the genus Bombus.Item type:Item, A expansão do ensino superior a distância (EaD) no Brasil no setor privado e a formação do pedagogo.(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-02-20) ;Martins, Thiago de Melo ;Lima, Paulo Gomes ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/5109357037661496 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9932-4934https://lattes.cnpq.br/9328590602599607This research analyzes public policies aimed at undergraduate degrees in Pedagogy in the Distance Education (DE) modality, focusing on the five largest private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Brazil. The study seeks to understand how these policies have contributed to the expansion of DE and what their implications are for the training of educators. The theoretical framework is based on Stephen Ball's Policy Cycle (1992; 1994; 2009; 2016), articulated with Foucault's (1970) conceptions of discourse and power, which allows for the examination of the relationships between political texts, institutional practices, and the contexts of influence and practice. Methodologically, a critical qualitative approach is adopted (Gamboa, 2003; Lima, 2003; Carspecken, 2011). The investigative process encompasses documentary analysis (Cellard, 2012) of current legislation on distance education in Brazilian higher education, content analysis (Bardin, 2011), and a systematic review configured as a State of the Art of theses and dissertations (Morosini; Nascimento; Nez, 2021). The results, analyzed in light of the specialized literature, reveal a duality between advances and challenges. The advances point to inclusion and geographical democratization, the expansion of cultural and social capital, the existence of quality public experiences in distance education pedagogy, as well as the pedagogical use of technologies and innovation. In contrast, substantial challenges are evident: the commodification and financialization of education, the emptying of intellectual training, the precariousness and fragmentation of teaching work, high dropout rates, limitations in supervised internships, and contradictions between official discourse and practice. The central thesis, corroborated by the research findings, posits that the offering of distance learning Pedagogy courses by the largest private higher education institutions acts, primarily, as an instrument for the massification of education. A prevalence of superficial and ineffective training is observed—marked by gaps in subjects inherent to teaching—despite the existence of occasional examples of excellence. It is concluded that guidelines for distance education should be consolidated as state policies, transcending governmental changes. To guarantee quality, the creation of a Research Center for Educational Sciences, the strengthening of on-site inspections by INEP (National Institute of Educational Studies and Research), and the implementation of scholarship programs as a strategy to mitigate academic dropout are proposed.Item type:Item, Explorando as possibilidades estéticas e imersivas dos fenômenos em The Backrooms e espaços liminares na arte e em jogos eletrônicos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-02-20) ;Sabóia, Gabriel Henrique Rodrigues ;Andrade, Leonardo Antônio de ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3921612856948891 ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7462418407808597https://orcid.org/0009-0007-4020-5958The Backrooms legend emerges on the internet in 2019 and becomes a cultural phenomenon by articulating human experiences within transitional spaces. Concepts such as liminality, the intermediate phase of a ritual (Van Gennep, 1919; Turner, 1974), the uncanny (Freud, 2019), and the non-place (Augé, 1994) guide the reflection on the aesthetics and narrative of the legend constructed by online communities. Its visual impact is analyzed based on key authors in anthropology, netnography, culture, audiovisual narrative, and art. As a result, a set of audiovisual works and analytical reflections contributes to defining and deepening the aesthetics of liminality, seeking to position itself as both a methodological and sensitive reference for future investigations and creations concerning emerging narratives and new aesthetics in contemporary audiovisual media.Item type:Item, Regressão simbólica em redes complexas(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-02-20) ;Brum, Beatriz Regina ;Previdelli, Isolde Terezina ;ttps://lattes.cnpq.br/0295127877081690 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8686-420XRodrigues, Francisco AparecidoDiscovering the equations that govern a system from observations is fundamental in several areas of science, as it enables both understanding its properties and predicting future behavior. Recently, machine learning techniques based on symbolic regression have emerged as an automated alternative for this task, with the advantage of not requiring prior domain knowledge to effectively describe dynamical systems, although they may benefit from such knowledge to refine the obtained equations. This study aims to develop a new methodology for the analysis and inference of complex phenomena by analyzing and comparing the performance of multiple symbolic regression algorithms in identifying epidemic dynamical systems across different propagation environments. Traditionally, temporal dynamics analyses rely on sequentially organized linear data, an approach that is limited when studying systems in which interconnections among elements and recurrent interactions decisively influence their evolution. To overcome this limitation, the research was structured into two approaches: the first using data from homogeneous environments and the second from heterogeneous environments. In both cases, symbolic regression algorithms were applied, using the fit obtained from Random Forest models as a reference. The effectiveness of the methods was evaluated through descriptive analysis and the application of the Wilcoxon test to assess significant differences between real and estimated dynamics. In the second approach, inferential statistical analysis was included to investigate the influence of network topology on the accuracy of the regressors. The results show that some algorithms, such as SINDy, SR, and MultKAN, demonstrated a high capacity to reconstruct the underlying dynamics in both approaches, with SR achieving the best performance among them. However, no significant effects of network topology were detected on algorithm performance, except with respect to R2, which was already expected. These findings indicate that the learned equations proved to be generalizable to the scenarios described here, regardless of the structural characteristics of the propagation environment, thereby supporting their potential implementation in real-world public health settings.Item type:Item, Percepções de cuidadores de crianças com desenvolvimento atípico acerca de suas necessidades, empoderamento e qualidade de vida familiar(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-02-20) ;Pelegrini, Patrícia Ortiz de Camargo ;Della Barba, Patrícia Carla de Souza ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/6448489426438006 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7893-8133https://lattes.cnpq.br/8119976588074272Caring for children with atypical development presents families with challenges that go beyond clinical demands, involving emotional, social, institutional, and political aspects that directly impact family quality of life and caregiver empowerment processes. In the Brazilian context, studies that integrate family needs, available support, empowerment, and family quality of life are still scarce. This study aimed to investigate the needs and support perceived by caregivers of children with atypical development, as well as to analyze the relationship between these elements and family empowerment and quality of life. This is a quantitative-qualitative, exploratory, and cross-sectional study conducted with 115 primary caregivers of children aged 0 to 12 years. Data collection was carried out using standardized instruments and open-ended questions. The data were analyzed in an integrated manner, articulating quantitative and qualitative results in light of theoretical frameworks of care, empowerment, family quality of life, and Family-Centered Practices. The results showed that caregivers' needs are multidimensional and continuous, encompassing informational, emotional, social, and organizational aspects, intensified by the centralization of care, especially in the maternal sphere. It was observed that the available institutional support is fragmented and insufficient, demanding constant mediation and active search strategies from caregivers. Empowerment emerged as a relational and ambivalent process, frequently mobilized as a response to system failures, strengthening the caregivers' capacity for action, but not always reducing the burden experienced. Family quality of life was shown to be traversed by these dynamics, combining strengthened affective bonds with restrictions on social participation, leisure, and self-care. It is concluded that caregiver empowerment cannot be understood as an individual attribute, but as a process conditioned by support networks, relationships with services, and public policies, reinforcing the need for professional practices and interventions in Occupational Therapy committed to the sustainability of care.Item type:Item, Fatores críticos de sucesso que afetam a permanência estudantil na universidade: um estudo de caso dos estudantes ingressantes nos cursos de engenharia da Universidade Federal de São Carlos UFSCAR(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-02-20) ;Biscegli, Murillo ;Martins, Manoel Fernando ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3921504261628850 ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/6137036288399845https://orcid.org/0009-0004-0820-0303The work entitled “Critical Success Factors Affecting Student Retention at the University: A Case Study of Students Entering Engineering Courses at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCAR)” aimed to analyze the factors impacting dropout rates in undergraduate engineering courses at UFSCAR. To this end, a model focused on identifying Critical Success Factors (CSFs) from the students' own perspective was developed and validated. The goal is to provide institutional managers with tools to identify key areas for improvement, contributing to more effective strategic, operational, and institutional management, as well as providing students with a guide to the actions taken by the institution. The proposal also aims to reduce inequalities and foster the production of scientific and technological knowledge capable of improving students' quality of life. In this context, this master's dissertation sought to answer the following question: “What are the Critical Success Factors for undergraduate engineering courses at UFSCAR?” The main objective was to identify and group the relevant CSFs for these courses. Specifically, through a literature review, the study sought to identify the common Critical Success Factors (CSFs) for these courses, with the aim of analyzing, grouping, and discussing them in light of data collected through questionnaires administered to incoming Engineering students at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCAR), located in the city of São Carlos, SP. Based on the data analysis, it was possible to propose a set of specific CSFs for undergraduate Engineering courses, with the potential to support the management of these programs and offer support to students. Finally, a Technological Product proposal for a retention support system to monitor student dropout rates at the University is presented. Enrolled in the extension course “Understanding the World Today: Pandemic and Peripheries,” offered by Universidade Emancipa in partnership with UERJ and USP, I gained access to the primary sources of this research: letters concerning the challenges of the pandemic in peripheral contexts. As an enthusiast, writer, and researcher of epistolary writing, I became interested in the letters written by teachers and envisioned a scope for a possible investigation, motivated by the desire to publicize those voices which, until then, remained undocumented. Following an invitation to join, as a fellow, the project “On the Other Side of the Margin: Challenges and Propositions in Facing Social Inequalities of Childhoods in a Pandemic,” funded by CAPES, and as a primary education teacher in a peripheral public school, I invited the children to engage with the primary sources so they could also write letters to narrate their realities and impressions of life during the pandemic. The testimony-letters produced by teachers and children from peripheral territories within the context of the Covid-19 pandemic were taken as sources in the weaving of a broader conversation that intersects with the author's research-life-formation experiences. Based on the (auto)biographical narrative approach and the assumptions of interpretive-comprehensive analysis and DNEP, this research understands epistolary writing as an (auto)biographical device of writing-listening, reflexivity, formation, and authorship, highlighting experiences, affects, subjectivities, inequalities, and modes of resistance in everyday school life. The text of the thesis and its entire structure in form and content is written narratively through letters, understanding that academic records and works can and should challenge hegemonic and academicist forms of knowledge production. Thus, visibility was given to the faces and audibility to the voices of children and teachers, commonly erased and silenced by the merely numerical statistical data found regarding the pandemic. Narrative research in/of/with everyday life also revealed itself as an approach that favored problematization and reflection on the ethical, methodological, and epistemopolitical dilemmas of research with children. The documentary dimension of the letters, aimed at preserving pandemic memories, and the denunciations-announcements present in the epistles and narratives of the teacher-researcher-narrator and the children, mark this period as a sanitary, social, and political crisis that disproportionately affected lives already threatened and (re)existing.Item type:Item, Corpos sagrados e desejos profanos: luxúria e ambiguidade em poemas de Decadência (1923), de Judith Teixeira(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-02-20) ;Oliveira, Larissa Bistafa Antunes de ;Alavarce, Camila da Silva ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7151151054517258 ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4876544015984335Alves, Ida Maria Santos FerreiraJudith Teixeira (1880–1959) was a Portuguese modernist poet whose work challenged the moral and aesthetic paradigms of her time, for which she faced severe recriminations. Due to the reception of her work at the time, Judith remained marginalized from the Portuguese literary canon for a long time. Her poems express the free and pluralistic nature of female desires, ranging from heterosexual eroticism to lesbian eroticism, configuring what the author herself called the force of “lust”. By assuming a subversive female voice conscious of her desiring power, Judith Teixeira occupies an aesthetic in-between space: she dialogues with the themes of Decadentism, with the experimentation and chronology of Modernism, and anticipates debates on gender and sexuality that would be taken up again by postmodern thought. Therefore, the present analysis aims to examine the construction of lust in Decadência (1923), considering its ambiguities, duplicities, and poetic transgressions. The theoretical contribution mainly draws on Georges Bataille's Erotism (1988), in addition to from feminist criticism and cultural studies, especially authors such as Showalter (1994), Klobucka (2009), Hélène Cixous (2022), Richard Rorty (2007) and Bhabha (2013), to discuss eroticism, subjectivity, and female discourse as forms of resistance. Thus, it is understood that Judith Teixeira inaugurates a poetics of transgression that transcends the limits of her time, reaffirming the power of writing as a space of desire, emancipation, and affirmation of the feminine.
