listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Desigualdade territorial: do Grajaú ao ensino superior, as barreiras da mobilidade no espaço periférico(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-07-02) Silva, Karina Rosa da; Mariano, Neusa de Fátima; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5003743301847104The city of São Paulo offers great opportunities, but it also exposes the deep inequalities faced by those living in its peripheries. In the district of Grajaú, in the far south of the capital, these opportunities coexist with daily hardships stemming from a historical process of occupation, expansion, and segregation, which still raises questions today about the future of its residents. In this context, young people's education is directly affected by instability in food security, housing, mobility, and safety, often losing priority in the face of the need to supplement family income, which contributes to school dropout rates. Given this scenario, the research investigates how young people from Grajaú manage to reach higher education, revealing trajectories marked by obstacles but also by the resilience of the territory, analyzed through the lens of Henri Lefebvre and his discussion of the production of urban space, with the aim of understanding the right to, access to, and persistence in higher education for these young people based on their own experiences and accounts.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Prisões e manicômios: um estudo sobre os processos de internação no Manicômio Judiciário de São Paulo entre 1927 e 1933(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-07-02) Guitler, Francisco; Sinhoretto, Jacqueline; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7743699562476490; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7333326406834075; Jesus, Maria Gorete Marques de; Machado, Maíra Rocha; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0553760669855058; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3277182968137071The creation of the São Paulo Criminal Asylum resulted from broader historical transformations in the administration of penal institutions. The challenge faced by the authorities was determining how to enforce a criminal sentence upon an individual who lacked the capacity to understand the unlawful nature of their actions. It is well established that individuals deemed insane were often held temporarily in prisons and police stations while awaiting transfer to psychiatric hospitals. This raises the question: what criteria did penal authorities use to request the transfer of detainees to psychiatric institutions? This study aims to examine how the establishment of a criminal asylum in São Paulo affected administrative practices and the movement of individuals between institutions. It argues that the development of administrative knowledge concerning institutions of confinement was more significant than the emergence of medical-criminological expertise regarding criminally insane individuals. A qualitative approach was employed to analyze the records of institutionalized detainees. The sources include the governor's messages to the state legislature and the proceedings of the Legislative Assembly concerning the creation of the São Paulo Criminal Asylum, which provide the historical context. The primary sources, however, consist of the medico-legal case files of institutionalized patients. Ten cases of incarcerated individuals transferred from state prisons to the São Paulo Criminal Asylum were selected for in-depth analysis.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Um estudo sobre use-after-free no kernel Linux(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-07-02) Sunbali, Yuri Said; Guardia, Hélio Crestana; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1780902767520967; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-5010-747X; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6199138511575511Given the growing relevance of specific vulnerability classes—and the emerging techniques and paradigms for exploiting them—there is currently a lack of in-depth, detailed studies addressing these topics. Accordingly, this work aims to contribute to current system security research by examining the Use-After-Free (UAF) vulnerability class—which has consistently proven significant for discussing emerging exploitation techniques—through a case study involving the Linux kernel and a deliberately vulnerable module.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, “Eu tenho medo de falhar”: relato de um processo de autopublicação à luz da formação em linguística(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-07-02) Oliveira, Ester Fernandes de; de Carvalho, Pedro Henrique Varoni de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0019513394358070; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1492-4891; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6265314707279599; https://orcid.org/0009-0002-4480-3262This work proposes a reflection on the self-publishing process, based on a personal experience, seeking to discuss how linguistic knowledge supports the relationship with writing. In view of a society constituted through graphic symbols, this research advocates writing beyond school and academic contexts and proposes to analyze an editorial object produced and published during undergraduate studies. The work reflects on the teaching methodology of Brazilian schools, defends writing as a therapeutic resource, and describes the process of constituting a book: from the idea to its execution. The work in question is the book “Eu Tenho Medo de Falhar”, published in digital format in September 2025 by an undergraduate student in Linguistics and author of the present work. The research is an experience report and, as such, is not based solely on a single theoretical framework. Ferdinand de Saussure, with the idea that linguistics is not limited to normative procedures, Paul-Michel Foucault, with the proposal of self-writing as a process of subjectivation, and contemporary theories on editorial design support our reflections.
